  1. CITR, this is a great poll and the results of the first few questions really shows the underlying attitude of the ES fanbase towards the FO. Don’t worry about the typos. Personally, I’d like to see one of these at the end of September (where I was saying almost every year, “Just wait until next season!” because we were already out of playoff contention by then, thanks to our wonderful front office and our equally wonderful team that was always just one player away from mediocrity).
  2. I live in Utah and took the family to Washington’s 2018 season opener against the Cardinals in Phoenix. I was most surprised by the number of Washington fans there. Will definitely be anxious to see when the Commanders will play them. My prediction for when the game will be played this year: Another uninspiring Week 1 game.
  3. Then Gibbs switched sports entirely (NASCAR) and won championships there. Somebody please name another NFL Super Bowl winning coach that has done that. [crickets 😆] He was simply amazing.
  4. I kind of see it like buying a house. You have certain particular features that you are looking for. You come up with a shortlist of, say, 5 homes. A couple more get removed due to price (or location, etc.). You’re down to three homes. You visit each one. Then, your realtor tells you that two of the three have contracts that have been submitted, and you find out that the owners have accepted the offers. You’re down to the last one, and it’s a good fit for you, so you make an offer, and it’s accepted. Call it whatever you want. I’m good with how the process went from our side. I’m happy with Quinn.
  5. Exactly: Kicking *** and taking no prisoners.
  6. Uh, yeah: We’ve been snake-bitten by an owner who screwed up and destroyed a loyal fan base one stupid move after another. From free agency to management to the stadium to off-field issues, and the list goes on and on. There was always drama going on here by an owner who could be relied on to continuously put himself at the center, trying to get the credit for looking like the smartest person in the room, when, in fact, he should never have even been in the room. He hood-winked us at the beginning into thinking that he cared about this team, only for us to realize (some of us were slower than others) that what that insecure person really cared about was himself. And it backfired on him all the time. We got taken once again by Dallas, as Jerry Jones took him under his wing to show him how to be a meddling owner, knowing that DS would forever look up to him and try to emulate him … and fail at that, too. So, yeah. This fanbase is toxic, and for good reason. May we finally be rid of the personification of failure and return respectability back to this great franchise with Josh Harris and Co.!
  7. Get ready for a loss. This team truly sucks.
  8. I feel confident that a deal will be signed with Harris, and not with Davis. With the news that broke on Thursday that Snyder has agreed to sell to Harris, and as @Andre The Giant reported that Snyder’s plane just traveled from Geneva, Switzerland to Dulles, I’d be surprised that the Snyders would pull a fast one and come to town in order to sell to Davis. I think one of the Danya team has come to sign the paperwork to sell the team to Harris. And, I also think it’s Tanya, not Dan, who is here, but I’ll wait to say why after we find out whether I’m right on this or my previous point (about selling to Harris).
  9. NFL Owners (to Dan): … and the Mary Jo White report will be devastating, and the value of the team will drop $3b … oh, and you’ll still be $1b in debt. What I don’t understand - and someone please explain this to me - is how a team which the owner has literally destroyed in every way possible, which is mired in complete ownership incompetence, which has decimated its fan base, has won nothing of significance, is under multiple investigations, needs a new stadium, and is rotting from the inside out can be expected to be sold for no less than $6b, when the Denver Broncos, an NFL team with none of these issues and a much more stellar reputation, was sold for less under a year ago.
  10. Sorry to say, but this defense will not suddenly get significantly better when Chase Young comes back. It might get marginally better, but that’s it. So, what you see right now on defense (allowing opponents to convert 3rd-and-longs to 1st downs; opponents’ WRs abusing the linebackers and secondary; no sacks; no turnovers) is what you’re going to get for the rest of the year unless the team gets rid of JDR now.
  11. How could I have left him off the list? We could also start a list of failed qb’s we’ve had that would be horrific, too … 🙄 - on a different thread, of course 🙂 .
  12. Mike Nolan Jim Haslett Joe Barry Greg Manusky Jack Del Rio … who’s next?? None of them have had a clue about how to stop an opponent on 3rd down. And it seemed to me that most of them allowed the opponents’ receivers a cushion that was beyond the first down marker. I guess as a fan of this team, it should be acceptable to me. But, it’s not.
  13. Interesting … May have to sit down and listen to that. The cassette version that I had was with Sonny, Sam, and Frank.
  14. Somewhere I believe I have cassette tapes of the radio broadcast of Super Bowl 22 (vs. Denver). Somewhere. Pretty sure that they were bought commercially, though, as my dad sent them to me when I was in college out west.
  15. I’m not on board with firing Ron Rivera. For one, I’m not sure who would be better who would take the job. Rivera took the job knowing that he basically had to clean house and change the culture. Then, he had to deal with the drama of a name change, and there is a lot behind the scenes that we don’t know about with the scandal that NFL looked into, as Tanya became the co-owner and Dan was told not to be involved with day-to-day operations of the team (I heard that right, didn’t I?) and a report by the investigator that never came out - that, in and of itself, speaks volumes. He also went through cancer treatment (and survived) on top of everything else, so I’m willing to cut him a huge amount of slack if he didn’t do something that we fans would have liked him to do during that time. This season hasn’t exactly gone according to script, either. They couldn’t get the quarterbacks they were targeting, their first-round pick pretty much dissolved, the qb they finally got lasted less than two quarters, injuries galore, and, of course, COVID. Jack Del Rio, though, is a different story. I’d ask him two questions: 1) Why was the defense so horrendously bad? 2) What are you going to do to fix it? If the answer to question two is “We’re keeping everything the same,” I’d show him the door.
  16. Happy holidays and best wishes to all on ES. I rely on ES to keep me hooked into the mood of the team and its fans, as I’ve lived out west (Utah) for the last 5+ years, and it’s harder to keep up with the team like I did when I was back in the DC area. So, … thanks to all. You’re the best!
  17. Ain’t such a great accomplishment, Philly, when you beat half a team by only 10 points. WFT, you made me proud of you tonight.
