  1. IF the Knicks don’t get the #1 pick tomorrow night, the ONLY place I see Zion going is Chicago. It wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world for the Bulls to get a gift, due to Chicago being a great basketball town, and a huge market. Forget about LA, the Lakers are not in a position to get #1. If they had sit LeBron down at the All-Star break, they might’ve had a chance to enter the top 3, but that didn’t happen. i think the top 3 tomorrow night will be New York, Phoenix and Chicago.
  2. Zion is going to the Knicks. There’s no doubt in my mind that’s happening. You have the most talked about prospect in years, along with the Knicks’ mostly 20 year irrelevancy, and you have the ingredients for the Knicks to have their fortunes turn. There’s NO way Cleveland, Phoenix or New Orleans get the #1 pick tomorrow night. Phoenix already got the #1 pick last year, and Cleveland is NOT having the fortune of getting ANOTHER #1 pick. LeBron is not going back to Cleveland again, so they’re out. Adam Silver is going to pull a David Stern tomorrow night, and set the Knicks up with the #1 pick one way or the other. It’s what’s best for business.
  3. I’m going to the game Tuesday night. This should be a real treat. Can’t wait .
  4. I thnk after yesterday, we no have no choice but to go after Josh Gordon, because we CANNOT continue to trot out these same receivers that we have this season for much longer. These guys SUCK. They can't get open, they can't catch the ball when given an opportunity, and they can't even block well when we call running plays (I'm looking at you, Doctson), which is disturbing to me. We're at Def-con 5 level at receiver, and I would argue that we have the worst corp in the NFL (next to the Cowboys). We HAVE to get a vet in soon, because we're not going to be in many games trotting out the same garbage week after week. The Colts gave the rest of the league the blueprint on how to defend the Skins offense. Put 8 or 9 in the box, and dare Alex to throw, while taking away the medium options. We better sign a vet, because we're ripe for the picking when play better defenses coming up shortly.
  5. Count me in as "Not Excited", but "Nervous" about our receiving corp. Next to secondary, this is the group I'm concerned with the most. Alex Smith has only had 3 20+ TD seasons in his 14 year career, but we've surrounded him with unproven talent, and big question marks about ability, especially if we start seeing injuries like we did last year. If I'm a D Coordinator, I'm not worried in the slightest about our WR Corp, and would stack the box just to dare Smith to throw to these unproven WR's. The question remains whether or not these guys can get the job done, but one thing that should be a big help is the return of Jordan Reed. If he's healthy, and able to play 10+ games this season, we'll be okay, but if he gets hurt and misses time, we're in big trouble. I actually think it's more likely that AP rushes for 1000 yds this year, then it is for Alex Smith to throw for 4,000 yds. The thing that irritates me the most is that we basically threw away the preseason, and didn't give Smith or the WR's time to gel. If we start off slow again, and struggle to score out of the gate, we should be grabbing our pitchforks and gathering at Redskins Park, because it's ludicrous to trot out a new QB and new WR's, but barely give them time to gel together. Gruden should be crucified if we struggle to score the first few weeks of the season.
  6. 106.7 The Fan is owned by CBS Sports Radio, so whenever there is a game like today, or you're driving late at night, or it's a weekend, they'll usually play CBS Sports Radio national programming. It just so happens Jim Rome is on CBS Sports Radio from 12-3PM everyday, so that's why you're stuck hearing him. I believe that this is the same for ESPN 980. Whenever they have a Skins or Orioles game on, they air ESPN Radio national programming in its place on the radio streaming service.
  7. Because the Nats are playing right now. Whenever the Nats are playing on 106.7, the stream will air nationally syndicated programming, since you can't stream MLB games live with local radio streams.
  8. https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/redskins/good-redskins-tickets-available-so-whos-interested/2018/08/06/046ab94e-99a6-11e8-8d5e-c6c594024954_story.html?utm_term=.7c341a230b75 Didn't want to start a new thread on tickets since we have this thread here already, but what do you think of this article? I think it's the chickens finally coming home to roost after 20+ years of arrogance & fan neglect. Oh how the mighty have fallen. Bob Ley from Outside The Lines (ESPN) yesterday just eviscerated Snyder over this very subject. It was covered some on 980 this morning, but man did he really undress Snyder and the organization as a whole.
  9. Exactly, just have two or three shows, and then have Cooley, Smoot or Koken fill in during holidays, or summer vacation. I was going to say that this town really doesn't have the capacity for 2 stations. This is primarily a football town, so we're not New York or Chicago, or Boston where we can have a deep roster of sports talk hosts that can talk intelligently about other sports. We also suffer from football obsession more than any other large sports town. Sports personalities in New York, Chicago & Boston can talk about the football team one minute, and then seamlessly transition into baseball and basketball without missing a step, and still keep the audience engaged. We're really a 1.5 team town. It's Redskins>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Nationals>>>>>>>>Wizards +Capitals. We don't have the audience here in town to spend more than a few hours talking about the Nats/Caps/Wiz, without some yahoos complaining about "lack of Redskins talk" in the middle of June.
  10. I agree with you regarding nationally syndicated programming in the morning. They should just air Wingo & Golic until 10AM, and then have Galdi on from 10-1, and Sheehan from 1-3 or 4PM, and call it a day. No one else they have on staff is interesting enough to get their own show, so just have two shows from 10AM-4PM, and that's it. If you want to have Czabe from 4-7PM, then that's okay two. Only Galdi, Sheehan & Czabe should have shows on that station, since they're the only interesting personalities.
  11. Really??? I feel the exact opposite actually. BOTH stations talk about the Redskins too damn much as it is. I can understand the Redskins being the primary topic on local sports talk here, but when it's May or June, and there literally NO Redskins news worthy of note, and they ask all those stupid questions like "Who will have a better season, Alex Smith or Kirk Cousins"?, or "Which Left Guard will make the team over Shaun Lauvao"?, It gets really old after a while. Part of the problem with this town and it's lack of true quality sports talk, is the fact that the stations around here cater too damn much to the Skins, and not enough to the other teams in the area. In the Spring/Summer, I want to hear more Nats talk, and in the Spring, I would love to hear more about the Wiz/Caps then what 7th round corner fits the Redskins scheme. My feeling is that if you can't do quality local sports talk radio, then just air national shows instead. The national shows at least are more entertaining at the end of the day.
  12. Your're 100% correct about taking calls. I can't stand sports shows that focus in on taking calls from the same 10-20 idiots that give their moronic takes. I think Sheehan & Galdi's shows would be 100x better without taking calls every 30 minutes. I actually love sports talk shows that focus in on interviews and the hosts takes than what an idiot caller has to say.
  13. Nah, I actually think that ratings will be either the same, or might even go up a little bit. 980 has a real personality problem. Other than Galdi & Sheehan, they have absolutely NO one who moves the needle, and makes you want to listen to their programming. They're already getting killed by 106.7 in the ratings (it's not even close), so they should just do local programming until 1PM, and just do national programming the rest of the day. You underestimate the transplants that live here, who don't want to listen to local sports radio, and hate being bombarded by Redskins talk. I actually think that if you air some national programming, it wouldn't be a ratings drop, simply because you're giving people who can't stand local sports talk other options. How many New Yorkers, or Bostonians, or Californians live here, and would rather listen to Golic & Wingo, or Lebatard than whatever Doc/B-Mitch/Czabe have to say about the Skins.
  14. I think that they need to seriously revamp or reorganize that whole lineup in regards to their programming. They've tried multiple times, to fix their afternoon/evening programs, but they just haven't caught on. They just need to either do a few shows during the morning, and switch to national programming for the rest of the day, or they just need to completely get rid of the sports talk format at that station all together. I liked Cooley & Kevin, and I'm sad to see Cooley go, but keep Kevin on, and have him do a solo show. Have Galdi continue to do the 5-7AM show, or move him to 11-1PM after Kevin. Those should be the ONLY two shows on that station, since everything else they've done in the afternoon/evening has been a failure. I don't care for Bram Weinstein, and I can't stand the Doc & B-Mitch afternoon show, so I'm not upset that those two shows got canned. I don't care about Czabe's late afternoon show, so I'm indifferent on him. Just cover local sports from 5AM-1PM, and do national radio the rest of the day. It's clear that they don't have any personalities or ideas that would be successful besides Sheehan & Galdi. They've also got to get an FM signal down the line, so that you don't hear static constantly after sundown.
  15. https://www.hogshaven.com/2018/7/29/17627480/redskins-training-camp-offensive-breakdowns-who-stood-out-and-who-needs-to-improve WR: This position group left the most to be desired in camp. When I say that, I’m being nice, because I am not confident at all in this group. Let’s start with the bright spots: Jamison Crowder, Brian Quick, and Robert Davis. It’s abundantly clear that Jamison Crowder is Alex Smith’s favorite target. While he isn’t Tyreek Hill, he will represent something Smith actually didn’t have in KC; a receiver that gets open at all levels of the field without depending on scheme. Crowder caught everything thrown his way at every level of the field. Quick was a pleasant surprise. He’s a physical receiver that plays the ball well in the air and found consistent success on intermediate posts, outs, and digs. He made several spectacular catches. Robert Davis looks like he’s gained significant weight when he has, in fact, lost 15 pounds. Either way, it’s clear he’s in much better shape and he looked good this week. He wasn’t just a one-trick pony running 9-routes on every play; he ran solid routes (though some of his breaks are too choppy) and caught passes on multiple routes at multiple levels of the field. Who disappointed? Most notably, Josh Doctson. His nonchalance HAS to get on the coaches’ nerves and he drew more than one passive-aggressive ‘it’s the little things’ comment from a coach. It may just be his personality, but his effort appeared to be significantly lacking in comparison to his teammates. For a player in his position, with such an important year on the horizon, you’d hope he’d show some fire. Even when DJ Swearinger forced, and then scooped, a Doctson fumble in an 11-on-11 session, the receiver didn’t even pretend to chase/atone for his mistake. Slow walks back to the sideline after drops and weak effort in and out of his routes were all too apparent for most of the weekend. Again, it’s possible Doctson is a Marvin Harrison type; a guy that can show very little passion and produce on the field. Time will tell. This is exactly what I was afraid of. I never really liked the Doctson pick, but going over it now, that was an extraordinarily weak WR draft class. He's going to have to prove a LOT to me to show me that he deserves being here long term. I thought the CB group was going to contend as being the weakest unit of our team, but I firmly believe now that the WR Corp is going to be a struggle until proven otherwise. We all better hope & pray that Jordan Reed is healthy, and that Guice turns out to be a top 10 back, because if we have to lean on this WR Corp for offense due to injuries, we're in big trouble.
  16. TBH, I'm NOT expecting much from our receiving core. I actually think it's one of our biggest weaknesses on the team next to our CB group. I don't trust Doctson at all, and there are BIG question marks regarding Paul Richardson. I only trust Crowder, but he had a bad season last year to be frank, and he needs to redeem himself this year. I think if we're going to have a good offense this year, it might have to be our rookie running back & TE group (looking at you Jordan Reed) to carry us. If Jordan Reed can play 11+ games this year, and Guice has an 1100+ yard season, we should be okay, even with the predicted lack of consistency fro the WR corp. On another note, I really think we should've gotten Allen Robinson instead of Paul Richardson this past offseason. Robinson would've been an excellent pickup, and we wouldn't have to worry so much about our outside receiving threats, since he's been proven to be a pretty good outside receiver. Doctson really has to pick it up this year. Out of all the guys with something to prove, he should be at the very top, or close to it. If he can't get a 1K season, and at least 8TD's or more as the #1 receiver, he is going to be labeled a bust, and deservedly so. He's been a big time disappointment up until now. I have low expectations of him until he proves otherwise.
  17. Wall is getting dragged and ripped on Twitter for this photo that was posted. He's actually trending on Twitter right now, hahaha. What happened to off season training regiment? This is not a good look, especially since camp opens in less about 2 months.
  18. To follow up on Dan Schneider, this man has been a creep and it's been Hollywood's worst kept secret for decades now. He's the man responsible for all of Nickelodeon's hallmark shows (Kenan & Kel, All That, The Amanda Show, iCarly, etc). Some of his previous actresses are speaking out against him (Amanda Bynes is actually speaking out against Schneider from a private account under a different handle). His sick obsession with feet are a hallmark of all of his shows on television. A couple of years ago, there was a rumor that Robert Downey Jr. blasted Dan Schneider on a private message board calling him "sick", and "the worst kind of predator there is". Here's a link to what Amanda Bynes has been saying about Schneider under her private twitter account:
  19. Dan Schneider from Nickelodeon will be the next big Hollywood executive to be exposed. Look him up, he's a real sicko. I bet we'll be hearing about him a lot real soon, since this will be much more disgusting and disturbing than Harvey Weinstein.
  20. That's true, and I agree with you, but the point remains that 980 is simply on local sports talk overload during the day. This town is simply not that big of a sports town for a station like 980 to devote 70+ hrs of local sports talk per week with no break in between. Especially between Feb and August. I love the Nats (and actually watch them more than I do the Skins the last few years), but you simply cannot find enough to talk about during the summer between the Nats/Wiz/Caps. I mean, you could spend an hour or two talking about the Nats if you're running a 4hr show, but then what? The Wiz/Caps aren't interesting enough to fill out a 4hr show in the summer. Since the Nats are so good, and there's no race to speak of in their division, you find yourself having even less to talk about this time of the year. If I were them, I would scrap at least 2 shows from their format, and replace them with national shows. That way, you don't stretch yourself out with fatigue.
  21. 980 really needs to switch up their format. from 5AM-7PM, it's nothing but local sports radio. Normally if this were NYC, or Chicago/Boston/Philly, then this would fly over fine with the sports talk radio audience, but even there, those cities at least air some national shows during the day to spice the format up a little bit. I don't care how big of a sports city you are, airing 14+ hrs a day of local sports talk, especially in a city like DC can get draining. After the Redskins stop playing in Jan every year, I check out of local sports radio until Training camp. There's no reason so many hours of the day should be devoted to local sports talk. That kills your station over time. 980 should air Cooley & Kevin in place of B-Mitch & Doc's time slot, and move Galdi to 6-10AM, or 10AM-1PM. They should air either Mike & Mike or Lebatard in the morning, so that we can get a break from the local coverage. I would get rid of Bram Weinstein's show (he adds nothing), and they should seriously consider shelving Czaban's 4-7PM show for Bomani's show, or find a better local sports radio host. 980 needs to completely revamp if they want to increase ratings.
  22. No, that's a pretty accurate picture of the crowd. I watched some of the second quarter before I turned it off, and that was pretty much the crowd last night give or take 1K. LOL @ 12K announced crowd, that's hilarious. If you were on twitter last night, pics of the small crowd were all over, and people were amazed that there was such a small crowd at an NBA game (especially in a game where your superstar scores 50. If you watch First Take, or any other ESPN show today, they'll probably comment on the pathetic crowd. I think this is it, the Dam might have cracked as far as patience & interest of this team. Nights like these go a long way towards firing the GM.
  23. The only guy who could get away with this is LeBron. I remember before he bolted for Miami, he would show up to Indians games with a Yankee hat on (even went to a Yankees-Indians playoff game in Cleveland wearing a Yankees hat). But, I don't remember Cleveland fans booing him, you know, since he was getting his team back then to ECF's and NBA Finals on the regular (something Wall has yet to do). LeBron also never complained about the fans, or lack of support in Cleveland & Miami (something Wall HAS done). I hope later this fall or winter when the Verizon Center is packed with opposing fans for teams like the Celtics, Lakers, Knicks, Golden State, etc, that Wall remembers that he has no leg to stand on when those fans are chanting "DEEEFEEENNNSSSEEE" when the Wizards have the ball, or they Boo Wall at the free throw line late in a close game like last year's Lakers game.
  24. I normally wouldn't care about this, because its his right to cheer for any team he pleases, but this is a REALLY bad look for him. I say that, because he was the one complaining about the fans this past season when the Verizon Center was filled with mostly opposing fans when the Lakers, Celtics, Knicks, etc came to town. He's the one who brought it up on the Wizards end, crying about fan support, so why would he show up to a Cowboys-Redskins game wearing an Emmitt Smith jersey yesterday? It just doesn't make sense, and it says a lot about the lack of awareness of his comments. He shouldn't be surprised that he's catching heat for that this morning. It's not just him, according to Al Galdi from 980, other Wizards players were showing support to the Cowboys during the game yesterday on Twitter like Bradley Beal & Markieef Morris. Just a bad look all around.
