  1. Yeah, most people here don't have the inside info on these players. But there are plenty of people here who know what they're looking at, spend time watching tape, etc. I don't think the talking heads at ESPN said much about either of Washington's picks this year so far, and even if they did, this crowd isn't too easily influenced by them.
  2. Looked like a fatbody chasing an oven stuffer roaster being pulled down the field on a string...
  3. My random thought for the day : the USFL isn't going to last longer this time round than it did last time.
  4. Imagine being a part of a roster where you know that good free agents and players with no-trade clauses want nothing to do with your team. How demoralizing is that? We're going into year 3 of a coaching staff that is all about culture change, yet our culture of losing and basic organizational ineptitude still hangs over the team like a dark black cloud.
  5. That's pretty much where I am with things. It's not a hard transition, as the team's performance in recent years has made me pretty blaise over winning and losing. When I was younger, a loss would ruin my week. Now, I just turn off the TV and go about the rest of my day without giving it much thought. Rebranding with a name that I dislike so much that I haven't even said it aloud since it was announced just makes me more ambivalent about it.
  6. That's a fair point, but the NFL is so inconsistent with its messaging that nothing would surprise me. Watson is a superior talent to Kaep, and the league is pretty much starving for big time QBs.
  7. Great point. Wilson being agreeable to go to Denver and not here is like a kick in the nuts to me, and many other fans, I'm sure. But it was an expected kick in the nuts. I was really hoping Rivera and company would stick to their word and make a big splash with a new QB, and I started daydreaming about having Rodgers or Wilson, or maybe even Watson if his legal issues would allow it. With the team's idea of a QB splash with Wentz, it's like getting set up with a blind date, and you hear she's a model so you're really excited. But then you meet her and find out she's a hand model.
  8. Pretty sure Wilson would have to waive a no-trade clause to go anywhere, so I guess DC really wasn't an option for him, despite having a Richmond connection. Wish I could be as hopeful as you. It would be great to see him regain his early form come September.
  9. That could be why we are in disagreement over this. You are coming at from a very optimistic point of view. I'm seeing it as yet another questionable move by a team that needs to raise the bar higher than they typically do when it comes to personnel moves. I keep thinking that they should have done more to get Wilson, but now I'm hearing they offered 3 1st round picks and got rejected, so I guess I'm wrong there. It's not you, it's me. I was hoping they'd really come through with a major move at QB and that would help push down the bile of resentment I have over the rebrand, at least a little bit. Wentz doesn't do that for me. One thing I will say about Wentz though - he could be a good ambassador for the team in the community. When he was still with Philly, I saw a piece on him becoming friends with a young Eagles fan and his family. It was very touching. From that day on, I really liked Carson as a person.
  10. Off the top of my head, I can't think of too many QBs who achieved a lot of success without having that leadership trait. Randall Cunningham was a guy like that. He'd come off the field after a series where they failed to score, and he'd sit on the bench with a towel over his head. Statistically, he was a good QB, but he couldn't get a very talented team (that had vocal leaders at other positions) over the hump.
  11. Sorry, I don't buy that as the main reason he's no longer on the Colts. If the product on the field was better, I highly doubt any owner would put so much priority on their disagreement about the vaccine. Case in point - Aaron Rodgers. He lied about his status, and when called out on it, his attitude was basically "So? I'm Aaron ****ing Rodgers. What are you going to do about it?" And that was the end of it (except for a bunch of network talking heads getting on their high horse about it). Not saying anyone would ever expect Wentz to be on par with Rodgers, but a more convincing product on the field, and a playoff berth, would have probably kept him in Indy.
  12. Hmm. So what went wrong? Why was Indy so quick to move on without him, especially given that they have no alternative on their roster?
  13. I never made an argument for TH to remain the starter. Just saying that the thing players really liked about him is something that may concern them about Wentz, based on some things that have been said by people who knew him in Philly and Indy. From a talent standpoint, he's of course an upgrade over TH. It will be a complete failure and embarrassment if he doesn't put up much better numbers than TH. It's all speculation at this point, as the trade isn't even complete yet.
  14. Someone posted earlier that there were some sources in Indy that mentioned it as being a problem.
  15. Welp, I did not see this coming, but with this team, I should have been more prepared. I was just so moved by the whole "we're going to make a big splash in the QB market" and the articles how the team was leaving no stone unturned, and were calling every team in the league to see which QBs might be available.
  16. Many players are pretty active on social media, but even when they aren't, they do have friends, ex-teammates, former college teammates, etc throughout the league, and they all talk. Guaranteed, someone in the Washington locker room knows someone in Indy's locker room, and they are getting the inside info on what Wentz is like as a teammate. Heinicke has limitations in his game, but he is an energetic guy who competes as hard as anyone on the team. He's won the respect of just about everyone on the team. Wentz is coming in as a guy with red flags about his personality and work ethic. He's got his work cut out for him as far as becoming a team leader, and his reputation for not being a galvanizing presence will make that a challenge.
  17. A lack of interest in sports might be just what the team would need in an owner. He'd hire the best people who could handle the football side of it for him and pay them very well to win. Danny was a Redskins fan. Jerruh was a college ball player. And all they do is meddle in the football side of their organizations.
  18. Fully reject the new name, logo, uniforms, etc. in any and every way possible. Don't allow the hype of the rebrand trick you into thinking it's a new dawn and don't start attending games again.
  19. After the way they ****ed up the name announcement, does anyone have any confidence in the organization building a modern complex that will rival the House That Jerruh Built or the Rams/Chargers new palace?
  20. Raiders fans I know all say he chokes. They have no confidence in him. Had one really fantastic year, and has otherwise been average, despite some good stats. I read earlier today where a publication had him valued as worth two 1sts and a third. I texted that to 2 long time Raiders fans and they both said they thought that was awfully steep.
  21. Yep. Sad day. The end of a long history. At least they ended it all with a win.
  22. Not gonna stick around for the end of the final game played by the Redskins/WFT?
