  1. Ichiro was great, no doubt, but Griffey was a .900+ OPS player. Ichiro was high .700s, low .800s. Both first ballot hall of famers with different skill sets, but I'd take prime Griffey every day first.
  2. Good tip on where Sunshine gets their meat from. Can you get their blend there?
  3. @AlvinWaltonIsMyBoy Butcher Box arrived today. Read some online reviews that people had meat arrive that was semi thawed out. The stuff I got was frozen solid. What was inside: There were two of these. I cut one in half and made it for dinner tonight, it was damn good. Put a little Old Bay on it, put it in my air fryer and it came out damn delicious. Thick, juicy, great flavor. Two strip loin steaks. The aforementioned free wings. 3 pounds of wings sounds a lot more than it really is. I'll be thawing these out later and cooking them soon. Chuck roast. Pretty good size. Burger meat Chicken breast. It's not a ton of food. Quite frankly, if I wasn't trying to cut back on portion intake a losing weight, I could house all of this in a week or so. The goal is to see how long I can make it last. That said, I'm certainly not going to try to adhere to how many portions the labels say each selection has as that's not realistic. But if the pork loin I had this evening is any indicator, it'll be really good stuff.
  4. Good calls there. I hope the Nats can retain Turner, Rendon and others now.
  5. If Harper leaves, the Nats will be better, I believe. Like the Mariners after Griffey Jr. leaving.
  6. **** the Knicks, I hate how they get attention cause they're the KNICKS. Haven't been **** for 10+ years. Just because you're NYCs basketball team doesn't make you relevant.
  7. Where are these studies? Not that I don't believe you, I'd just like to send them to my extreme/angry Fox News loving parents.
  8. Danny Carey from Tool said the new album comes out in April.
  9. Not thread worthy, but... https://www.rollingstone.com/movies/movie-features/leaving-neverland-michael-jackson-doc-sundance-784801/
  10. I think people that are whining about the PR firm are jealous that they couldn't do that for their kid, if their kid did something that was ultimately meaningless and was getting vilified in the press for it. "These rich uppity white people who are conservative jerks HIRED A PR FIRM!!! Rich white conservatives are the WORST! Look at the lengths they'll go to!"
  11. Will do. Joe Rogan has been plugging it a lot lately, too. My goal for next winter is to go hunting and source my own meat. Pretty sure I don't have the freezer space though.
  12. Alright, so I just signed up for Butcher Box. I'm not sure if you guys have seen it or used it but if you have, I'm curious to hear your thoughts. www.butcherbox.com I signed up for the curated box for 129 bucks which, according to them, means it's about 5.50 per meal (24 meals, but I'm a big guy and I like to eat so we'll see what it really comes out to). They pick the meats you get, steaks, ground beef, pork, chicken, who knows. You can also customize a box and pick what you want, but that's more expensive. Of course it's all grass-fed meat, etc, which I've never really been able to taste enough of a difference in to make me buy it over regular meat but it does seem like a good deal, it gets delivered to your door frozen. I've seen it for years, was always curious about it but never tried it. But the thing that made me try it is that they're throwing in 3 pounds of wings for free every month as long as you're a member. So in addition to all the meat they send, I'm getting 3 pounds of wings which are my absolute favorite so I'm gonna give it a shot. I figure 5.50 per meal is a good rate plus 3 more pounds of meat. I also figure this will get me to learn how to cook more, I'll let you guys know how it goes.
  13. I get it. And that's a really good response. The disconnect for me is in what you describe as the being inn-accurate. People in position of power and privilege getting away with things sucks. But that's where I think our differences are...you say sheltered kids who get to lie and spin their way out of accountability and I'm asking, essentially, what's the big deal? Accountable for what non-crime committed? I totally agree with your statement, I prefer to save my outrage for someone like you mentioned, R Kelly, Bill Clinton, the Brock Turner ordeal...when someone gets murdered, raped, etc. Yeah, this kid is probably the prime example of someone who would be able to pull off a Brock Turner move but I'm not going to make any other assumption about him. I understand the perception surrounding this kid...and in this sole, specific situation I am just more saddened by the outrage it's caused, the fact that people are going WAY overboard for a 16 year olds douchey behavior and how this is dominating the news. I think some if it is a distraction from all things Trump and the shutdown which I also understand but...as you touched on, this is the zeitgeist of our time, part of it anyway. Privileged people get away with stuff, this is not new. But the other part of the zeitgeist (for me, at least) is the all-out rage that something as insignificant that this causes, the over the top tweets by adults who are JUST AS PRIVILEGED (some of which I posted earlier) or even more so than this kid is. I talked about this earlier, I'd see kids just like this at Pentagon City Mall on field trips, they'd be at the food court. There'd be a lot of MAGA hats and I could never tell if they were really pro-Trump or just trying to be jerks. I never bothered asked but it was weird to see. I lean towards trolling, too.
  14. Yeah, but what'd he do? Wore a hat that aligns himself with Trump? If he's not wearing that stupid hat, this isn't a conversation, @Llevron was right about that. What happened here, did anyone go home with a bloody nose? Black eyes? Cracked bones? Bad behavior, he didn't make an obscene gesture, he didn't say any bad words, racist words....what bad behavior? Look, I get it, he looks like an entitled prick. I'm not denying that, I think he probably is one. I think all those kids were pricks and as a matter of fact I don't think he's the worst kid on that video. But to get so aggravated that entitled pricks exist, specifically 16 year old entitled pricks and get caught on video with a SMIRK, I can't relate. I don't get the outrage, at least not to the level where people are calling for this kids head and he's gotta get an interview on the Today show to explain himself. But the kid was correct, he had every right to stand there, just as the Native American guy did. And I know that bothers you, but it's correct. He had every right to stand there. He didn't do anything violent, he didn't do anything harmful or obscene. And I know that angers the **** out of you, I'm curious as to why. Just cause he looks like a douche?
  15. The more **** like this happens, the more I just want to go live on top of a mountain in a cabin with no internet access and just hunt for my own food and get away from people as much as I can. I'm totally aware of how that sounds, rest assured I'm not gonna pull a Kaczynski and write a manifesto and send package bombs...but man, I just want to get away from people. Read some books, hunt some deer, grow some veggies and be left alone.
  16. https://www.usatoday.com/story/life/tv/2019/01/23/nick-nicholas-sandmann-today-show-interview-savannah-guthrie-twitter/2655420002/ I think @Llevron is right. Social media, specifically twitter, is probably a bad thing. I mean, here's an article with peoples responses on twitter to the interview this morning (which I haven't watched...yet). Really, this is like a 9/11 moment? Owes America an apology? What the ****? For what, asking a kid some questions? Why are people SOOOOOOOOOO DRAMATIC? What did they expect, her to just bound this kid to a chair, hang a lightbulb over his head and grill him until he cried? I think that's the only way some people would be happy here.
  17. I will say....if an old Native American dude approached me beating a drum and chanting something I didn't understand, I wouldn't know what the **** to think. There'd be a bunch of different ways to interpret it. I'd probably ask, politely as I could, "What are you doing and what's this all about?" Phillips says he was trying to be peaceful...how about putting the drum down, going over to the kids and be like "Hey, I know those guys are shouting some really nasty stuff at you, let's ignore it and I'll stand here and wait for your bus with you, let's be above it and not escalate anything." I get that he wants to spread his culture around but it might have been done better with an explanation. When I was living in Arlington, I would walk across the street to Pentagon City Mall where there'd be a ton of kids like this on field trips. There'd always be a lot of busses from kids out of town coming into DC and they'd stop at PCM cause of the food court. There would always be a bunch of kids, probably anywhere from age 13-16 wearing MAGA hats. It was always hard to tell if they were straight up Trump supporters or if they were just trying to be trolls and jerks. Or both. But kids are jerks. Not all, of course, but there are bratty teenagers everywhere, ESPECIALLY ones that are away from mom and dad for a few days. I am so tired of this story, I know I can't be the only one. I don't want to watch another video, I don't want to read another op ed on "HOW THE MEDIA GOT THIS WRONG" or "I'M STILL STICKING TO MY GUNS EVEN THOUGH PEOPLE ARE APOLOGIZING TO THE KID, I SAW WHAT I SAW!!" https://theconcourse.deadspin.com/dont-doubt-what-you-saw-with-your-own-eyes-1831931203 The amount of outrage being sparked by a kid being a jerk (when we can agree that kids are jerks) is just so over the top. Is this really deserving of news? That a kid is being a jerk? That a white kid from Kentucky wearing a MAGA hat might be a douchebag? Why is this still on the front of CNN.com? However, the kids aren't the only ones being jerks, adults on twitter are just off the rails all day, every day. I'm not going to post Kathy Griffin's tweet here cause of the language (here's the link: https://www.dailywire.com/news/42420/kathy-griffin-viciously-targets-covington-catholic-daily-wire) , but come ON. Wanting names of the kids? Wants public shaming? And after she got hit by a lawsuit for spying on her neighbor like a ****ing creep: The Disney producer who put up a tweet about the woodchipper: https://www.rt.com/usa/449368-disney-producer-threatens-maga-kids/ Michael Rappaport saying their school should be shut down (2nd tweet) and calling them ****suckers: Really? I mean, they're from a CATHOLIC school. If you're going to take umbrage with the Catholics, how about their massive pedophile cover up machine? Michael Green: Really? Man, 16, his life is already defined. Go home, kid, no need to aspire to anything else. I hope Michael Green never has to ask for forgiveness in his life. Come on, everyone, let's get even more amped up and angry cause a 16 year old kid was a douche. 🙄 I don't know who to be more sad about in this situation, the kid probably being a jerk, or the adults who are calling for the kids head in some pretty alarming ways. (just to be clear, I'm Maverick, you can be Iceman)
  18. Yeah, the kids mocking the Native American guy with the tomahawk chop that they do at the Atlanta Braves games. Hooting and hollering, it's obvious when people are being snide and jerks. That kid who stood there and stared, it wasn't a warm, inviting look. Nice statement from the kid, though, I am sure people who will see what they want to see from that video will think he's an upstanding young citizen who'd never be a jerk. That said, I'm not sure what Phillips hoped to accomplish by approaching that group of kids. I wouldn't call him an aggressor as he didn't do anything threatening but I'm not sure what he was thinking.
  19. i thought Erykah Badu was "woke" https://thegrapevine.theroot.com/black-twitter-tells-erykah-badu-to-have-a-window-seat-a-1831910494
  20. I agree, regarding the unabashed violence. And yeah, they take a lot of injuries and keep moving (the fight in the weightroom was ridiculous) but I reminded myself it's supposed to be over the top and to suspend some belief. Even though I thought that, the last episode where Punisher gets decked in the face by a big piece of iron and kept going made me roll my eyes. It's like a 2010's version of Leon: The Professional, almost. I really enjoyed it, overall.
  21. I forgot Daredevil was canned. I guess that means Punisher won't be back, which is a shame. I liked Jessica Jones, too. I didn't know that Disney was starting their own streaming service. I found this article which explains a lot if anyone else is in the dark like me: https://www.cnet.com/how-to/disney-disneyplus-streaming-service-name-release-date-shows-movies-to-expect/
  22. They got rid of Iron Fist (which was a bad show) and Luke Cage (which was a great one). Did they get rid of Jessica Jones and Daredevil, too?
