  1. "Not a red wave but more like a pink splash.. Kinda like you get when you wash your clan robes with your MAGA hat!" - Stephen Colbert I lol'd
  2. Love Justified! Watched it from end to end a couple times now. Boyd is an awesome character and jackin with hillbillies never gets old...
  3. Middlemarch by George Eliot I knew nothing about it going in other than it routinely shows up on "greatest-classics-must read" lists. The story is just one long 19th century soap opera and it is long! I'm up to chapter 53 with 15 hrs audio left to go... The writing is absolutely superb and (in the Audible version I have) Juliet Stevenson does absolutely phenomenal work reading and bringing the characters to life.
  4. Ditto. Didn’t watch one minute and haven’t checked on any highlights. I’m not going to do that to myself. My days off are too valuable..
  5. On a scale of one to ten, I’m about a one the days compared to where I used to be as a fan. Possibly less. The quote underneath my posts is from a couple of years ago but it’s as relevant today as it was then and says it all. Nothing measurable has improved and that’s a huge disappointment for me because I believed in Ron. I don’t think he’s going to make a difference and frankly, I don’t think there’s anyone out there who could. Im not the least bit superstitious but it certainly feels like there’s a curse on the team. What other possible explanations are there, Dan? There’s another element in play for me. I’ve lost my taste for the violence inherent in the game. This is just me getting older and softer but it sours my taste for the game..
  6. Can’t say I’ve ever been disappointed with an outcum! But I am getting older so, who knows, maybe one day.. 😊
  7. Sunday morning, the wife and I are catching a flight to Seattle for a few days respite and I'm sure looking forward to that! Looking forward to missing the game as well. From where I'm sitting, this one has SUCK written all over it....
  8. I cheated sad to say, I'm old enough to remember him. He came onboard as one of Beatherd's strike replacements to play H-Back, if memory serves. I recall good hands and decent wheels but ultimately small for the position. I think he was invited to camp the following year and might have made the squad but wasn't around long... Got a ring though!!
  9. Seriously bummed out about Mathis...Crappy way to begin your pro career when you can't even get one game under your belt. Get well soon, big guy!
  10. Any report on Mathis yet or just MRI in the morning?
  11. Halfway through Guns, Germs & Steel by Jared Diamond. In honor of Salman Rushdie, I have The Satanic Verses on deck..
  12. Completely agree. Just finished Bleak House read by Simon Vance and my admiration for the job he did hard to put into words. I drive 2+ hours a day and been doing audio books for years. Vance’s work is first rate! I’m on to my third book by Dostoyevsky (The Idiot) and while his works are always guaranteed to please, I’m already missing Vance’s voice and delivery!
  13. Reminds me of the days when a certain Mod would hand out temp-bans to anyone suggesting the Redskins drafted a FB (college designation) because we ran a singleback offense. My memory is **** so I don't remember the player or the year. For what it's worth, Turner's designation is TE according to the folks paying his check and on my Madden team so, I don't require anymore information than that, thank you!
  14. On the field, in the locker room or out in the community, he was the consummate player and teammate. Thank you, Ryan!
  15. But right now, they're setting aside their partisan divisions and doing honorable work of the highest order. So, lets leave them alone to get on with it, shall we?!
  16. Just finished How the South Won the Civil War by Heather Cox Richardson If you've been wondering how the Republican Party became what it is today, I can recommend it. Nothing earth shattering though. Ultimately, the title says it all but from the birth of the nation to Donald Trump, there's a lot of good political history along the way.
  17. Christofascists are walking tall and carrying a big stick. It's time for woman to get MUCH more involved in politics and come together over woman's rights. There has to be a reckoning! Has to be...
  18. This is so very disheartening. I listened to that clown talk about god, his faith and his oath to the constitution, blah, blah, blah... Squeeze a tear even.. but he would turn around tomorrow, give Trump another crack at it and not give it a second thought!! We're doomed, people.. Effing doomed.
  19. I guess my question for all Americans that supported Donald Trump (and I count you as one of them) is why you seem to have no problem with the attempted theft of an election? I'm convinced that if the shoe were on the other foot, you would be quite indignant about it and crying for blood. But because it was perpetuated by Republicans it's quite alright? Rational people who appreciate democracy and understand the value of it have good reason to be furious about Jan 6th. But you & 74 mil other Trump supporters act like it's really no big deal! In fact, if you were honest about it, I suspect you are only sorry they didn't succeed! Is that the case? Do you wish he were in power today?
  20. JDR is a moron! He's only a football coach and as a breed they're typically not that bright but, jeebus man, keep that horse**** to yourself. Wrong time and place! Rivera should fire him today...
