  1. The problem with Jamin is that he isn’t football smart. The game is too big for him. If you’re constantly thinking, then you won’t react well and you won’t be quick to the play. When he doesn’t hustle to the ball, it’s more than likely him being frustrated with himself and just sort of giving up. Maybe by benching him, it may help him learn the game. Maybe we should start that kid Milo. Detroit has a really good slot receiver St Brown who is very similar to Kirk except bigger. Jamin is gonna be put into mismatches again where he might have to cover him. If it’s the same thing again, bench the guy!
  2. I had Swift on one of my fantasy teams last year. Guy always was hurt and was questionable often but always seemed to play. We need to load the box and make Detroit pass the ball. Goff can be rattled and I see us winning the turnover battle. We sack Goff at least 4 times!
  3. This is for you Jamin from JDR. 😂😂😂
  4. VERY WELL SAID! I agree the days of the Parcells calling Keyshawn a girl or berating a player on national tv should be long gone. It’s not professional. If you watch the presser, JDR didn’t beat him up. He wasn’t ranting and raving about how awful Jamin is. He simply said he played okay and they expected more. The one thing I would disagree with you is that I actually like JDR and think he’s been one of our better defensive coordinators. I much rather have him than Joe Barry. I don’t think he feels any more pressure than anyone else. He’s been a player and coach for a long time. He knows how it goes. Finally yes only one game but pretty soon you look up and the season is over and Jamin is still awful. I worry about that.
  5. I agree. The coaches have all tried to get this guy going and he hasn’t responded. I don’t believe a coach should call out players all the time but I do think it’s about time to do it now with Jamin. We desperately need him to play well if we have any shot this year. I think Jack knows it Ron knows it and the other players know it too. Coaches nowadays having to deal with prima Donna athletes is difficult but going a bit old school may be what is needed. Cuddling and building up his confidence up to this point hasn’t worked.
  6. Sorry but boo hoo. I’m sure Jamin is crying into the millions of dollars he has.
  7. Okay fair enough. I thought you were saying that it is lunacy that a coach actually called out a player. This “participation trophy” mindset is something I just don’t get. This is the pros and Jamin is not a kid playing in peewee football. He’s making millions playing a child’s game. He needs to strap it up and play better. It’s not like JDR said Jamin was completely awful. He said he was okay but needed to play better. As for him covering Kirk, I agree that’s not ideal. But do you think it may have had something to do with how Pedersen drew up a scheme to gain a mismatch? It happened a few times throughout the game but it wasn’t the norm. The coverage by Jamin on Eitnenne was really bad! Linebackers are expected to be able to cover backs and Jamin completely failed.
  8. Parcells was a pretty good coach and he would call out players all the time. JDR normally doesn’t do that but it may have been necessary. There’s obviously some things behind the scene going on with him that we are not aware of. The coaches have been cuddling the guy since he was drafted. Maybe he doesn’t have the work ethic needed to develop. Im completely fine with him being called out. We need Jamin to play well if this season is going somewhere.
  9. You said its lunacy that JDR called out Jamin. What’s the problem with him doing that? I don’t get all of you who is calling JDR a d&*@ because he called him out. This is football not Ted Lasso. Jamin needs to step it up and right away. So you want to replace Jamin with a corner? Then our run defense suffers. Or do you want Jamin to go man against a slot receiver? He’ll get burnt every time.
  10. Why is this lunacy? Did you watch the game? Jamin was slow to react, had all of 3 tackles on the day, and looked lost at times. When you’re in your base defense (2 backers) and the offense has 3 wideouts and 1 tight end, then the outside backer will need to sometimes cover in a zone the slot receiver. Not saying it’s ideal on every play but if you simply go nickel, you become more susceptible to the run. Keep in mind that Jamin ran a 4.47 40. Dotson was 4.43.
  11. Say what you wanna say how we are better than Detroit but they are favored … granted because it’s an away game. I live in the Philly area so I had the Eagles game on in the background while watching us on my IPad. Swift was tearing up the Eagles defensive line. Remember the Eagles signed Reddick, drafted Davis, and got back Brandon Graham. You could say their defensive line is better than ours at least on paper. Swift was dinged up a lot last year but still managed to play a lot. If he’s out that will be good for us as Williams is tough runner but not as dynamic. Goff has a couple good wideouts but will make mistakes especially under pressure. Our line needs to get to him and quickly as he likes to get the ball out of his hands quick. Detroit blitzed a lot. In fact they blitzed 50% of the time. I don’t see them doing that against us with a less mobile qb. I think we should be able to handle their defensive line. Their backers are good but their secondary is suspect. We should be able to throw on them. With all that said, I think we win fairly comfortably. Good guys - 31 Dan “we’ll cut their knees” Team - 21
  12. On every play, there are always gonna be open receivers. If you look at that play Wentz went to the right read in my opinion. Jags safeties were in 2 deep coverage. Sure he could have pushed it downfield and he did later to Terry but you can’t do it on every play. Just rewatched it and Jags were single high safety not 2 deep but again Wentz probably wasn’t sure where the safety was gonna cover. I do think we will have the ability to score more points than the 28 we scored Sunday. I just don’t wanna see Wentz force it.
  13. Detroit blitzed Hurts almost 50% of the time against the Eagles. Hurts ran quickly and right away. They were very aggressive on defense. Carson will need to release the ball quickly. Look at his first couple reads and if not there, check it down or throw it away.
  14. Not sure if this was posted anywhere but looks like Ryan Anderson is back in the league. Good for him. Hope he does well. https://www.profootballrumors.com/2022/09/steelers-t-j-watt-will-not-require-surgery
  15. I just watched a video of all the touches against the Jags by Antonio today. I need to apologize to him because I was calling for him to actually be cut before BRob got shot. Like many on here, I wad tired of the team trying to put a square peg into a round hole experiment. He is not an in between 20 carry running back, doesn’t hit or read the hole like a true running back, hesitates and the doesnt show the 4.3 speed and of course fumbles too much. I love how Scott used him on Sunday, spread him around, limited his carries, and Gibby showed some speed and great hands. I also heard he actually volunteered to do kickoff returns which is surprising since he could have pouted after it was apparent BRob was gonna start. If we continue to spread the ball around even when BRob returns, how will defenses game plan? We obviously will have games where we will need to rely on the run game and BRob will be such a great fit for that plus he has hands too. I just wanted to show some appreciation for Antonio! Hail Gibby!
  16. I agree but pressure is sometimes better than a sack since it can cause errant throws. Goff made some real bad throws against the Eagles when he felt pressure. Wentz made a real bad decision on that screen pass when he was under a lot of pressure. It will be real interesting against Hurts in week 3 because he literally looked to run as soon as he felt any type of pressure. Gotta contain that guy in the pocket.
  17. If you heard after Kerrigan was hired, he mentioned how the line needed to play as one unit. Based on the scheme I could see lots more stunts this year instead of 1 on 1 matchups. It will be interesting to see how Chase takes to it once he comes back.
  18. If you watch that sack by Allen, it was a stunt with Sweat. I don’t recall a game in which we stunted as much as we did. It allowed Allen and Payne to be in the backfield often. I’ll give Jack, the new DL coach and Kerrigan lots of credit on how well the line played.
  19. Heres some film breakdown on Jeter. I don’t know about the guy. He does have ideal size for the 1 technique but didn’t have a sack for Michigan his senior year on a great defense. Ron did say he would bring in young guys instead of a vet so I guess they believe in Wise as the backup to Payne. Obada is too small to play tackle and is better suited to play on passing downs. It will be interesting to see how our run defense performs in the latter part of a game when they rotate Allen and Payne out. https://steelersdepot.com/2022/05/2022-udfa-player-profiles-michigan-dl-donovan-jeter/
  20. What happened to Randy Moss on MNF? I guess the You Got Mossed is over
  21. Just turned out MNF pregame and saw RGlll is on there. Not sure of him racing birds. 🤣 Maybe one of the birds can carry Booger away. He’s awful on that show.
  22. We should have traded for him a few weeks back. It’s time for the Jamin Davis experiment to end but don’t think that will happen as Ron seemed to shy away about a question of why Jamin was covering the slot during his presser today. Maybe they think if they can build confidence in Jamin, it will help. After last year Jamin may be battered goods.
  23. Maybe it’s a joke but I don’t get it. He said we won yesterday and he has no complaints about the defense. I responded that our defense can’t play like it did yesterday. If he wants to say let’s enjoy the win. Fine but it’s the 1st game against a team on paper we were favored to win. I’m on cloud 9 after the win but also realistic to understand we didn’t win crap yesterday. Hopefully the team doesn’t sit on it’s laurels replacing Mathis and trying to figure out a way to get Jamin corrected.
  24. What are you talking about it? I’m an objective fan, not some bandwagon fan. I don’t look at the team thru rosey colored glasses. We won yesterday but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be looking at improving the defense. Plenty of opportunities to improve the defense especially with St Juste and Jamin.
  25. I’m not sure how good the Lions defense is or will be with Aaron Glenn as their defensive coordinator. He was a great corner but not sure how he calling a defense. I live in Philly and had the Eagles game on in the background. Lions made zero adjustments to Hurts scrambling. He ran so easily through that defense. Saw Hutchinson huffing and puffing chasing him down all day.
