  1. Gibby was not a full time receiver in college. He was a hybrid and now we are switching him to do the same. While he made some strides as a full time running back, I don’t expect much from him lining up strictly as a wide receiver. Hopefully he can do some Deebo like stuff from a rb/slot formation. He does have some comparables to Deebo (Gibby is slightly taller, a few lbs more and has a better 40 time than Deebo). I don’t see Curtis playing that role very well so hopefully Gibson can be that guy.
  2. I was saying that when we first drafted him and people were trying to figure out his position. Once he got 24 I thought square peg round hole. Why wouldn’t we make him our swiss army knife type player. I think the coaches thought he would easily transition to rb but obviously the experiment is over.
  3. I tend to agree with this. I like Cole but he isn’t stout against the run. Linemen just swallow him up. I do think he’s fairly solid in zone coverage but in man to man he’s seems slow to react. With all the veteran linebackers that were available this offseason I just don’t understand why we didn’t go after one of them. If Davis doesn’t step up this year our d will continue to struggle.
  4. Well I’ll admit I was wrong on Logan since he was activated from PUP today. The pickup of Blanton seems odd if they knew Logan was coming off PUP today. More likely we are only keeping 3 TEs so you got Logan, Bates, and Turner. I don’t think they keep 4 and one less wideout and while practice squad is expanded you’re not gonna keep 3 TEs on it. Interesting.
  5. Logan got hurt in December so September would be about 10 months from an ACL injury. Generally it takes a year for a player to feel comfortable. He is not in football shape and has spent no time working with Wentz. Why not give him 4 weeks to practice and get in shape. Doesn’t make sense to have him start game one.
  6. I could see Blanton starting the season at tight end. Logan will be on PUP, Bates will probably be #2 and I suppose they’re concerned that Turner may be more injured than what they’re saying plus he’s a rookie. Rogers hasn’t shown much and the same could be said of Hodges. One of these guys is practice squad bound with the other being cut. Hes 6’6 so I’m excited to see what he can do. Get in there and develop some chemistry with Wentz pronto!
  7. He went down early from one injury, came back and then got the acl injury I believe against the Raiders as he played in that game but not the following week. He only played in 6 games last year so another reason to ease him into the season wouldn’t putting pressure to start game one.
  8. I get that but I would prefer to have Logan sit for a bit. It usually takes a player a full year (didn’t he get injured in December) before they’re comfortable from an ACL injury and he has had zero playing time with Wentz. With the team being careful with Cole Turner I can see him starting the season.
  9. I believe the new PUP rule is that a player only misses 4 games this year. If so and since Logan would need to get in football shape, I think it makes sense for him to go onto PUP. We just need the rookie tight ends to step it up in the beginning of the year. We will keep Turner, Bates and Rogers with Hodges on PS. That should be good enough, much better than our prior tight end depth chart.
  10. I think Dyami is making it. We need someone to stretch the field and while Terry and Dotson can go long, they are gonna run a good amount of short to intermediate routes. While Dyami isn’t Desean, he can still run the fly pattern much better than Harmon or Simms. We need more than possession receivers. You gotta have some guys who can hit the home run.
  11. Yup Wentz has a propensity for the hero play and will hold onto the ball way too long at times and try to extend the play. Those times he will get the ball knocked out or try some stupid gadget throw like his left handed interception last year. He needs to get that 5 second clock going where he’s making quicker reads and getting the ball out.
  12. We don’t need a running back who is “dynamic “. We need a guy who’s gonna churn out 4-5 tough yards on first down. Not one who gets to the line, doesn’t see the hole, hesitates and gains zero or loses yards. Where is he supposed 4.3 speed? Last year he had one play on a screen pass where he looked dynamic. We have given him opportunities. He is a square peg in a round hole situation. Is he viable running back in this league. Yes but he’s still has a long way to go when it comes to understanding how to play the position. Along the way, he continues to fumble and gets hurt too often. He supposedly dropped weight this offseason but still was hurt at the beginning of training camp. Im ready to move on. Give me some BRob!
  13. I think Gibby practicing returns is pretty much a guarantee that BRob is starting. Usually you don’t have a starter playing special teams. As for trading him, I would in a heartbeat. The only saving grace is that he’s on his rookie deal so he doesn’t cost much. No way we are resigning him.
  14. Yea that’s all we need is Gibby fumbling punts. WTF .. why would we want him returning punts?
  15. Im worried that Payne is gonna go for sacks and abandon the run. In the preseason game I think it was 3rd and 3 and Payne did a swim move to get to Mayfield and opened up a huge hole for Chubu had an easy first down. I hope we see Mathis rotating in a lot on obvious running plays.
  16. Darn it! There goes another vet I would have liked to sign as depth for our backers. https://www.profootballrumors.com/2022/08/broncos-to-sign-lb-joe-schobert
  17. It’s great to see Samuels out there. Yes Wentz loves his tall targets like Alshon or Pittman but he loves his tight ends too. Ertz was a pro bowler under him. Hell even Mo Cox had like 10 tds last year. One guy Wentz relied on his last year in Philly was Greg Ward. Similar in size to Samuels and was a safety valve for Wentz. Hopefully Samuels turns to him when he needs those 5-6 yards for a first. Of course JD is an option as well.
  18. There are a few things I’m impressed with about Howell. First for a shorter qb, he stands tall in the pocket. He’s mainly on his front foot during his release and his knees are not bending so he can see over the linemen. Second obviously he has a strong arm and he releases the ball without a lot of windup needed. He has a rather quick release. Lastly and it was pointed out by a few people but when he scrambles he’s looking downfield rather than looking to where to run. He has some wheels but I want our qb looking for that downfield throw not a 12 yard scramble. On that 40 yard pass play where he broke loose to his left, he didn’t need to set his feet to throw a dart to Erickson. His athletic ability is pretty evident. Ive seen enough to know that he should be our #2!
  19. 7 seconds and Doc is saying plenty of time.
  20. Darn it I wanted a win but looks like our defense and their stupid mistakes is gonna give Carolina the win.
  21. I forgot about Gerry. He has playing experience. Maybe he can be a quality backup instead of Mayo
  22. Hopefully no one is calling for Howell to be the starter this year but number 2 is definitely in play. He is definitely a gunslinger type qb.
  23. Erickson and Milne could be twinsies. After that catch and run by Erickson it will be interesting to see who makes the team. A vet or a 2nd year guy. If Dax doesn’t make it he always has Zach Wilson’s girlfriend to cry to.
  24. If Howell was 6’4 he would have been the first qb taken. Regardless he stands in the pocket taller than his 6’1 frame ala Brees.
  25. Yea I wasn’t a big fan of him being our return guy last year as a rookie and now that he has a year under him I’m comfortable with him being our punt returner. He does give more than Erickson as a back up receiver.
