  1. Of course letting any talented player go for a 7 win team is not ideal and yes amazingly the Rams somehow through salary cap magic was able to extend Stafford, Kupp and Donald while signing Robinson and keeping Ramsey. The Bucs were able to keep their core because Bradys contract is reasonable and guys signed for less than market value. Look at the 49ers, they traded Buckner a while ago and still have to sign Bosa and their other linemen aren’t as highly regarded as ours. Look I’m all for keeping Payne but it just doesn’t make sense from a perspective of how to construct a football team.
  2. I agree with you Chase is a wildcard but let’s say he gets double digit sacks this year. Then it would be hard to not pick up his 5th year option and then resign him to an extension for the #2 overall pick.
  3. Is Payne a good player? Does he have high upside? Yes to both questions and I like him however…. You can’t pay all 4 guys. It’s as simple as that. Who knows what the market will be for Sweat or Chase? We are already paying Allen $20 million per. I imagine Chase and Sweat will be more than that by a lot. Even if you take a conservative number like $25 mil, that’s over $70 million for 3 guys. The cap is $185 mil for this year (of course it will increase) but those 3 guys would take up almost 40% of our cap? I understand there’s some maneuvering that can be done to take more of a hit in latter years but it doesn’t make sense to have 3 guys on defense account for that much of your cap. The dilemma with Payne is that if he has an outstanding year and Mathis doesn’t show much in his rookie year, then it leaves a gaping hole at the one technique. He’s as good as gone and hopefully we can get a third round supplement pick for him and bring in a rookie or see Mathis fill that role.
  4. I couldn’t disagree with you more. Yes familiarity is huge for an offensive line but we had a make shift line last year and did just fine. Turner and Norwell are better and usually are more reliable than Schreff and Flowers in my opinion. Schreff hasn’t played a full season since 2016. Roullier played half a season last year and we rolled out guys like Ismael to replace him. The key denominator is Matsko who seems to get the most out of everyone. Im not saying our line is gonna be a huge strength but certainly not a liability. Camp will be important to make sure we have the right kind of depth.
  5. I’m with you guys on Dyami. I think he was more of a product of Mack Brown and his offense than his individual abilities. However the one thing to keep in mind is that he is going into his second year. I know a lot of rookie wide receivers now come in and make an impact right away. But it wasn’t that long ago it took 3 years for receivers to get in their stride. Let’s see how he does in camp before writing him off. Good to see Wentz bringing in the boys to work out with!
  6. They certainly slow rolled the Terry negotiations. He put up numbers ever since he was drafted, he has been a model player, a team captain and missed what 3 games in 3 years. It’s not like overnight, they thought hey maybe we need to extend this guy. And it’s not a situation where he was looking for a renegotiation on a current contract. His rookie contract was 4 years and would expire this year. He is a completely different situation than Deebo and Metcalf. Deebo had an amazing year last season. Prior to that it could be argued he was kind of a bust. He missed a ton of games due to injury and had a whopping 33 catches in 2020 in 7 games. Metcalf has produced since being drafted but I don’t think Seattle knows what they want to do. Rebuilding and paying him $100 mil may not make sense. Plus I believe he certainly has that prototypical diva attitude at wide receiver that some don’t like.
  7. I seriously doubt we extend either considering the way they slow rolled resigning Terry. If they were smart, they would negotiate with Holcomb to try and get him on the cheap but that’s the MO of this front office. I think they are gonna be concerned with signing Montez next year to really worry about resigning key contributors like Holcomb and some others like Curl.
  8. Congrats Terry! Well deserved for such a good person. Now get into Redskins Park, start building some chemistry w Wentz and the other receivers and win us some games!
  9. Im not sure what is more sad and pathetic? Is it me looking at this thread or other outlets almost everyday to see if we made progress on resigning Terry or is it the fact that Dan is still the owner?!?! Either way can we just get it done so we can move onto camp?
  10. If Ron and company had negotiated right after the season, Terry would be here and probably signed for $15-18 million per! This reactive posture needs to stop. Be ahead of the curve front office!
  11. If there ever was a play to be the reason to resign Terry this one is it!
  12. https://www.instagram.com/p/CYh-XtIMXJC/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y= This is Terry’s IG account. This post is from early January saying “see you next year” with fingers crossed. Interesting. Why weren’t we negotiating with him at this time!?!? He also has a pic of himself fishing back on June 5th during OTAs.
  13. He is the head of this organization and should understand he is going to be asked about Terry every day! You may be annoyed by it but that’s the job. If Ron doesn’t understand then get the hell out.
  14. Watch Rons body swaying side to side as he talks about wanting to keep Terry. Usually an indication that he is nervous and trying to relieve stress. I really think he is worried that they may not be able to sign him or he is worried the backlash the team is getting from us fans.
  15. I couldn’t disagree with you more on the negative impact of Terry missing playing time during minicamp. Yes he has shown that he can play with any qb but Wentz is definitely the most highly regarded qb we have had in years. Plus to me it goes beyond just the qb and the wideout but how he is integrated into the system. Turner has already said the offense will adjust because Wentz has a strong arm. Plus Terry has no chemistry with Curtis besides a couple games. He has never played with Dotson, Turner, and Robinson. There’s a reason why this minicamp is mandatory.
  16. Yes, we have talked at nauseam that Dan is having cash flow issues and signing Terry and any other high priced free agent is not possible. The point of the JD situation is that was a small contract and Ron and company dropped the ball handling it. I’m sure Dan has a say in any contract but we’re not talking about a huge contract or guarantee (3.5 mil).
  17. Cmon fellas. Can we get beyond the whole back and forth with JD and all the recent signings and admit there’s some culpability on the front office and Dan! Everyone has their opinion on how much fault should be placed on them. Me I think a lot of fault should be placed, some others feel much less. Bottom line if there was none Terry would be at camp catching balls w Wentz and we would be focused on that and not on Terry and his contract.
  18. Bottom line when it comes to our front office. Ron/Mayhew = EBAY Their strategy is wait till the last second to make a bid when the price has jacked up too high and then hoping the seller will take their paltry offer. Reactive as opposed to proactive.
  19. I agree that the team said they PUBLICLY wanted to keep JD. But that shows the ineptness of the team. They should be in constant communication with the agent and player to express they want to keep him. Again they screwed up on this situation and doing the same with Terry.
  20. Not sure what @Conn is saying but my original point is that our front office is inept with Ron at the helm. It’s one thing for them to say they want to keep a player. Another thing when they don’t even make any kind of concrete offer and then have to be reactive to the situation. We got lucky that JD wanted to stay here and backed out of the Bills offer. As for Terry, the front office should have done something way before free agency started when Christian Kirk signed a 4 year $72mil contract and started the whole wr market craziness. The guy never had a 1000 yard season and got 32mil guaranteed. The problem I think with Ron and Mayhew is that they think players like Terry will want to sign a hometown discount but then the market went crazy. I don’t blame Terry for wanting to get the most. Again Ron as the defacto GM is just not working. He reminds me of Mike Holmgren when he went to Seattle.
  21. Sorry but what I wrote is what happened. Here’s some background on the situation with JD. It appears that Commanders running back J.D. McKissic had a change of heart on where he wanted to play next season. McKissic, who reportedly signed a two-year deal worth $7 million with the Bills on Tuesday, made a decision to remain with Washington on Wednesday for the same price, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The Commanders initially didn’t offer McKissic a deal until he agreed to one in Buffalo, according to his agents Doug Hendrickson and CJ LaBoy. Per Schefter, when McKissic heard the Commanders were willing to match his Bills’ offer, he decided that he did not want to leave Washington. Before Tuesday’s report of him signing a deal with Buffalo, McKissic had previously stated that he wanted to remain with the Commanders in January. According to The Washington Post, in addition to McKissic’s desire, the Commanders publicly expressed interest in keeping the running back on the team.
  22. None of us knows what Terry is asking for. We are all guessing at this point. All the posts are mostly about getting him signed especially before the wide receiver market blew up. Ron and company should have seen this coming especially when Kirk who sucks got his new deal from the Jags.
  23. I said earlier this is on Ron. Period! I’m sure a big contract has Dan’s final say but I think the front office is just not efficient. Look at the JD situation. It’s not like the Bills offered him a huge contract but we didn’t offer him anything prior to him committing to the Bills. You can’t blame JD and luckily he changed his mind after we finally offered the same contract. This shows me the ineptness of the front office. Ron being defacto GM with Mayhew with the title just isn’t working!
  24. Now they have the money to resign Terry. Woo hoo! 💩
