  1. Our defense has been so much better on 3rd down. We had been awful the last couple years. The one thing I noticed during our streak is that we aren’t necessarily getting lots of sacks but we have good pressure up the middle with Allen Payne and Ionandis. Our ends help contain the qb by keeping their rush lanes honest forcing the qb to throw from the pocket, on their back foot or rushing throws causing errant throws. Sweat and Young would freelance too much which would allow wide open free lanes for the qb to get outside the pocket or open lanes to make throws. The next coming weeks will be interesting with mobile qbs in Dak and Hurts. If we force these guys to throw from a tight pocket, we should continue to play well on defense.
  2. Not accurate. Allen is signed thru 2025. Youngs option year is thru 2024. My point is that we can’t put all that money into 4 defensive lineman. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/washington-football-team/jonathan-allen-21758/ https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/washington-football-team/chase-young-47595/
  3. You can’t just say we need to resign Payne as signing him is an implication on who stays and goes on the entire defensive line. We need to plan ahead. We have to decide on the option year for Sweat at the end of next year. Usually that decision comes earlier before the end of the 4th year.
  4. I would too but financially you can’t tie up all that money into 4 defensive lineman. We see that we can rotate young guys in who can perform well. So if we resign Payne, then it’s either Chase or Sweat. We don’t need to make a decision on him till after the end of next year.
  5. Ive been a big fan of resigning Payne even more so than Allen before he got his extension. We can’t resign everyone so I could see Sweat being the odd man out and being traded.
  6. It’s frickin Dallas week! Besides the rivalry, this goes toward the division title. On paper Cowboys are a better team and getting a lot of players back but football is not played on paper. Have you noticed Ron being much more emotional during the post game speech. Hopefully those feelings go towards the players and we come out and win this frickin game!!
  7. WTF happened to Hudson? Great now Everett is gonna have to play more if Landon is out again. Anyone know the status of LC?
  8. I’m a big fan of Heinicke back after the Giants win and consider him a certain possibility as our starting qb for the foreseeable future but cmon can we cool it with the signing him to a new contract until we see what happens the rest of the season? If he gets us in the playoffs and we even win a playoff game, then we can and should discuss an extension but not now. Next year Fitzs contract will be off the book but we still have some young players on defense and Terry on offense to sign. I understand how you may want to be ahead of the curve so we can sign him for less.
  9. I agree the team likes Heinicke but every team will come to the defense of their qb.
  10. Regardless of the injury I believe Logan will be back into form next year. He may be older but he hasn’t played a lot in his career. He was never a speed guy so don’t the injury will affect that. Of course it would be nice if we had Logan down the stretch. Im excited to see Bates play more. If Reyes gets significant playing time, we get to see what he can finally do and whether we need to resign RSG or draft a TE.
  11. Yes you can improve arm strength. It’s not about building your muscles in your arm but in your hips and legs. Heinicke is young enough and hasn’t played much football the last few years, that I think he can improve it. I don’t think he will ever be Mahomes. He can also improve his footwork so he is throwing more upright rather than bending over. Better arm angle is helpful.
  12. Who cares? The point of my post is that Manning was a shell of himself from his hey days and as a qb he lacked arm strength but the Broncos still won. So when all those who are saying that we can’t win it all because we don’t have a franchise qb, the Broncos and the Ravens are two examples that you don’t need one.
  13. Wrong! Good defense but I wouldn’t say top ten of all time. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/2015/opp.htm
  14. Remember when Peyton won w the Broncos? He literally had no zip on in his passes and zero mobility. He succeeded based on timing and reading the defense. His passes literally were ducks and had very little spiral to them but he did manage to get the ball to the receiver as needed. Heinicke may stumble during the next six games but it’s ludicrous to say we can’t win it all with him at quarterback. A healthy Samuels, Thomas, and JD along with Antonio running strong and a defense that continues to play well and you never know what can happen in the playoffs if we can get in.
  15. I think what has helped his velocity is that he is releasing the ball quicker. He’s being more decisive. When you’re standing up in the pocket and have your legs underneath you, the ball will have more zip. Can we just cool it with the arm strength issue? Is he ever gonna be Josh Allen? NO! But I think you can see that he can get the ball where it is needed on most plays.
  16. How about that pass to Carter? I’m not completely sure he wasn’t throwing it to Thomas but if not that was one hell of a throw to get it over Thomas and the defender. A play like that shows me Heinicke could be our guy!
  17. Steve Young just said something that make a whole lot of sense. He said Taylor isn’t gonna get worse he can only get better. Taylor may never have the physical attributes of a Josh Allen but give him the offseason and some of his limitations could get better. If someone else comes along that will be the man great bring him in. Taylor’s contract is cheap enough for him to stick around.
  18. Looked it up but Curl is signed through the end of the 2023 season. This year and next year he’s making less than a million a season chump change for a 22 year old safety that is home grown. Ever since Jack put him back into the z role covering the slot/rb/TE he has excelled. He is easily our best coverage guy. i started the thread but again reiterate we need to extend him beyond 2023. Ron give him a pay raise!
  19. No I’m not talking about literally locking him up but can we resign Curl to a long term deal. Obviously our defense has been playing much better the last couple weeks and it’s no coincidence that Curl has been all over the field usually on the best players. Yesterday it was CMC amd against the Bucs he had 8 tackles covering Fournette and their tight ends. The guy is a baller and is quickly becoming one of my favorite players. Show the rest of the team the commitment we have in young guys who bust their tail on defense and lock him up for the next 4 years at minimum.
  20. For those who are saying Chase was having a decent season prior to his injury, just stop! He is a defensive end paid to sack the qb and make tackles for losses. 1.5 sacks and 3 tackles for loss in 8 games. These are impactful stats. Don’t give me the whole narrative that he does so much more for other players and the overall defense. Bullcrap .. thats like saying a loss is a good loss! Bottom line is that I hope this injury helps him get refocused on his game and his “love for football”. Hopefully it doesn’t turn into another RGIII debacle.
  21. As much as I’m down on Chase and his prima donna persona, I’m still gonna root for the guy and the team. However I do think the rest of the season will be vital to change the fan bases perception of him. We will see how he reacts to it or if he will crawl into a bubble and ignore the criticism. He has got to know the fans are not w him right now. I wonder what the coaches were doing during the offseason as he clearly did not work on his game? By the way with some of you defending Chase saying he does love football, that’s not the case if a player isn’t constantly working at refining and improving his game. Sean Taylor did. He became so much a smarter, mature football player not just simply relying on his athletic talent. No doubt Chase is super talented but it’s obvious what he did last year he isn’t going to work. He simply can’t bull rush or speed rush grown man like he did in college. It sounds like Ron addressed this slightly w Chase this week. We will see how he responds. Chase time to step up!
  22. I actually was against drafting Chase. I saw his game against Clemson and thought he wasn’t of the caliber of the Bosa brothers. Those guys hustle on every play. Against Clemson I saw Chase make zero impact plays in the biggest game of his college career. If you think the fan base is awful for criticizing Chase after 1.5 years of football and really half a season of production then you can ignore us. Give me a guy who actually will put in the work to improve his game. The NFL is not for long especially if you aren’t getting better instead going to shoot commercials. 💩
  23. We are not turning our back because of what he said but his lack of performance on the field! If he had 10+ sacks right now, no one would care what he says. Is this a guy we are gonna give a 100 million dollar contract? Trade his a$$! Give me a guy who loves football!
  24. Sure Tua might have been the pick but give me a guy who has played multiple seasons which Herbert did at Oregon. It’s the Peyton Manning over Ryan Leaf situation. Obviously this is a pointless opinion but MY POINT is always take a qb with a top 2 pick. You may miss but if you hit you have a guy who will actually be a game changer, not a defensive player who did nothing in his biggest college game and was a complete non factor.
  25. The problem I believe is that we may have not done our due diligence looking at the qbs in that draft. If I recall Ron made a reference to drafting Chase right from the beginning. My point is that I don’t believe any defensive player should be drafted in the first 3 picks. IMO you hit better on qbs than defensive players.
