Destiny 2 - Xbox One/PS4/PC

So Destiny 2 dropped earlier this week and I've been playing the hell out of it.  Hit level 20 last night and got to 200 power.  Been playing it on PS4, will get it on PC later to play with one of my friends.  I love it so far, very well done.  The story (what little I've listened to) is pretty good, I'm not big on story/lore and really just want to play the game, so I found myself skipping the cut scenes, but what I did listen to/watch early on was pretty good.

They did a very good job with the mechanics and game modes (Crucible).  I mixed in a lot of Crucible matches in the beginning after I unlocked the Crucible, my advice is to just do the main story quest line until it's completed (crucible is one small portion of that) as in doing so unlocks parts of the game.  Basically, you have to complete it to unlock everything anyhow, so power through it.

It's taken me some getting used to the changes with the weapons, they are now based on energy, so you can have two auto rifles or hand cannons equipped and they heavy slot is now called power(shotguns, rocket launchers, etc.).  Not happy about my shotty being in that slot, makes it less accessible due ammo availability (purple ammo now, not green).  I wasn't sure I'd like the Crucible only being 4 vs 4, and not sure why they made that change, but it's still loads of fun, imo, and the map sizes are perfect for the number of people.

Only thing I really don't like about the Crucible is that it's split up into two sections (quickplay and competitive) and then its completely random on what mode you get.  I liked being able to pick what game modes I wanted to play.  Competitive gives you a set amount of lives/revives in the matches and quickplay is standard, endless amount lives/revives.

Classes, I started with the Titan as it's my favorite class from Destiny.  It strips you of the former Titan sub-classes (striker and sunbreaker - defender is completely gone) and starts you with the new subclass called Sentinel which gives you a shield.  I personally hate it and could not unlock my striker sub-class fast enough (love that fist of havoc).  In order to unlock the other sub-classes you have to be a certain level (8-10 for the first one and 14-16 for the second one) and find a relic.

The relic is a random drop in a loot chest that spawns on the planets or at the end of public events.  Once you get the class relic, you then have to charge it up which can be done through public events or crucible matches.  I found the first one at level 9 in a public event chest, which unlocked the striker sub-class, second one I got at level 17 in another public event, it unlocked the sunbreaker sub-class.

There is tons of content starting off and they are going to release stuff like factions, raids, etc. in the future, I think we get factions next week (per what one of my friends told me yesterday).  All in all, solid game, picks right up where the first one left off.

I haven't had a chance to try out the other new sub-classes for the Hunter and Warlock, but from what I saw, they are pretty cool.  I plan to get max power level on my Titan first, then level alts.

Also am level 20 225 power. I've tried PVP twice and got my ass whooped as I'm not used to FPS with a controller. Frustrating to say the least but that was at level two for the quest. Game is great though. As someone that didn't play the first game, the story seems sort of meh but that's not why people play these RNG loot casino games.

For anyone interested, I have a clan started and we are recruiting. Sadly, I haven't been able to spend much time on the game right now, but plan on grinding in the next few days.

I know a bunch of the guys I have directly recruited are used to team play and great on communication.

Ya'all should try the clan: "Dad's of Destiny Relics" it is a very active and fun group on PS4 for us folks in the EST. Highly recommend this group. (We even take non-Dads). We have raiders, pvp'ers, sherpas, etc...

ps... how can I only have 5 posts? I've been here since 2003!

Power level is only 221, but I gotta do the last mission in EDZ (Enhance) so I can get the Mida Mini-Tool and quest to unlock the Mida Multi-Tool.  It's level 260 power, so......we shall see if I can pull it off solo with this Titan lol

Holy ****, 225 power level sucks for this quest/mission........no way I can complete it when I get to the no respawning from this point forward lol.  Guess I gotta grind out some other missions on other planets and get that power level up to 260.

Its pretty easy to level up in this game. But they punish you with making it almost impossible to go too far above your light level lol

I hate the small jumps in light/power level.  Like you get some legs to drop at 225 and the ones you have on are 223/224.........GTFO and give me some 235+ legs or something.

Thats exactly where it slowed down for me. 225. I hope there is a way to make this move faster. The good news is this game is a ****ing blast and sometimes I forget I even need new gear.

Yall know about the 'Heroic' public events right? That give you a better chance (dont know how much better but hey) at an Epic drop from public events? I feel like im getting pretty good levels from those. Even get a few purples here and there. If you dont here is the link.

Fyi link shows videos and may contain spoilers. Not sure as I havent watched them all.

That game looks awesome. Almost makes me want to purchase a new console.

I'll watch the walkthrough, Do they still rent consoles ? Hmm...

It's a pretty cool game bro.  I don't know of any place that rents consoles anymore.  Wasn't it Blockbuster Video or Hollywood Video that did that back in the day?

One or both of the places. Just had a conversation with my wife about that after the initial post.

I just know it would be something I bought that would gather dust. My original XBox is somewhere packed away. I gave all of my other consoles away over the years. No idea why I still have that XBox. Hmm.

Whoa, games are pennies. Might have to look for it.

So I had unlocked the nightfall and queued for it. It sent me in solo so I figured I might be able to do it. I got freaking worked over wow. What's the best weapon to use? I use the auto rifle for kinetic and really anything for power as a Titan but seems like other classes do more DPS than me. I could be just playing with people who played Destiny 1 for years but I figure I have to be doing something wrong as even during strikes I'm always towards rhe bottom with kills. Also it seems I should just hold all my tokens because as my power creeps up so does the power level of the set items at vendors making the purps I'm getting useless after a couple hours. Is that the right strategy? I have been turning them in. Also last question is is there anything you can buy at endgame? My credits are maxed out at 99,999+. Am I missing something? I bought some treasure maps.

Ok I sort of figured out my own questions, have to infuse items which costs some money and makes stuff better. Anything else you can spend glimmer on? Sort of dumb you can't buy silver with glimmer.

@codeorama is probably one of the best (if not the best) on here for discussing strikes/nightfall/raids and what works best/well for those (weapons/armor and mods, etc.).  I was always at a disadvantage in Destiny because my gear was geared almost 100% towards PvP (talking perks/extras/etc.) so they carried me though and I was always last in total kills, etc.  My guess it's most likely the mods or lack of mods to your gear and weapons resulting in lower DPS.

I'm not 100%, but since every class has access to the same weapons, it's most likely related to your armor/mods and what type of mobs/bosses you are fighting in the Strikes/Nightfall as that determines what best weapon to use on them (energy - void, solar, arc).  I think the kinetic weapons all do the main damage to health with energy weapons taking down shields better and killing certain mobs easier;   If I'm wrong, slightly off or missed something, anyone please feel free to jump in to correct/acknowledge.

When to turn in your tokens really is up to you.  If you want to hold on to them until you get your power level near or at max (whatever that is) then turn them in so your rewards are legendary/exotics at that level, it might not be a bad strategy.  I've been turning them in real time in bunches, leveling power as I go as the way I look at it, when I get a legendary/exotic I like, you will still get blue drops that are higher power levels you can use to infuse the piece you like and keep leveling it with you.  Honestly, it probably is a wash when it's all said and done.

Don't look at the purples as useless after a few hours, as mentioned above, you can always infuse a piece of armor or weapon that you like (say they have excellent mods/perks) and keep it leveled up.  You're way ahead of me, so I don't know what is available for you at endgame.  But since the game has only been out a week, I'd say you haven't reached endgame yet as they are releasing content in batches (from what I've been told) and we will get new strikes/nightfalls/raids/etc.

I thought the first quest to get the MIDA Multi-tool was a power level 260 in the EDZ. If I could get mini-tool before doing that 260 mission I'll definitely do it. I've seen a lot of mini-tools in PvP. I'm currently at 250, so I should be at 260 very soon anyway.
