Doozinbrah
Comcast just repoted that Smoot took a 14 million signing bonus. Though have yet to find a link. Just thought I would pass on what I heard.
spjunkies
If he got 14 I can't blame him for taking it, but the Vikes would be crazy to offer it.
RWJ
If true, alot of poster on ES will feel better. Reality is that Smoot is gone. We must move on.
STaylorLayintheWOOD
i wouldnt be nearly as mad if that winded up being true as that is a significant increase as to what we offered plus that is what he was asking for all along. i wouldnt put it against the vikings not to offer that with all that 31 mill under the cap that they are
mcees4life
i saw this too......Comcast says the deal is 5 years for 35 million with a 14 million bonus. If true, then I can get over him leaving a little bit easier
wwninja420
It would feel great to know that in actuality he didnt break his promise.
KingGibbs
Yeah I saw it to, but I didn't want to post it and get lectured again. So no, it's not a rumor it's an unconfirmed report and you had every right to post it. They also had a phone conversation with Springs and he said that it will be harder replace Peirce than it will Smoot.

Doozinbrah
Thats why I posted RUMOR in bold. And there is no print yet that confirms it so I still think it is rumor or unconfirmed report, its all the same to me.
Skins11
Damnit Smoot! The extra three million you would get from the Vikings would only cover the de-thawing costs inherent in living in Minnesota. Just for a couple million, why would you leave the huge fan base you built here and the awesome defense you get to play in? This sucks....

mookie0720
14 Million SB for Smoot? I guess you can do that when you're 30+ mill under the cap.

The WP article stated the bonus was 10 Mil but that he was scheduled to earn around 6 Mil for the first 3 seasons. Don't know how the signing bonus pro-rates because of the CBA expiring soon but that is pretty significant in terms of base sallary in which we usually pay vet min. I don't blame him, that's a lot of money.

scruffylookin
If true, this is much much easier to deal with. Congratulations to Fred Smoot on getting that SB. and Congratulations to the Washington Redskins Front Office for being smart and not matching it. AkaD
That is just a total disgrace that he went for the extra 4 million when he's already a rich ass player. 10 million wasn't enough for him I guess. WTF is that??? He was always so "i'm a Redskin for life", blah blah blah, "I love the Skins", blah blah blah. What a hypocrite man. Lates.
Chris Worthy
I can care less if the Bonus was 20 million. Dont talk crap all year saying you are about the Skins and the fans, especially the FANS, then roll. Dont blow smoke in my face and tell me we are in a Sauna.
Fitz
George Michaels is reporting that the contract is $34 million for 6 years with a $10.8 million signing bonus... EDIT: Woops, didn't see the mega merged thread reporting the same numbers. Just got home and caught George on the late news. Is Comcast's info considered newer and more reliable?
