(Merged) Jonathan Vilma wins defensive rookie of the year

How did ST only get 3 votes...BS

Because he is a safety, the lowest profile position on the defense. DE's, DT's, LB's CB's... then safeties. It is somewhat of an invisible position where they do not seem to be involved in as many plays. This is also why it is the lowest paying position on D.

A safety has the least possibility to make an impact when compared to the other positions. You would have to be ridiculously all world to draw that much attention from the safety position. And if these voters base their opinions from what they see on TV, then Keshan's catch didn't help much either

Not that out of the question. DJ Williams had an All-Pro type year. Just because we all think Taylor is the man (he is) doesn't mean other guys weren't worthy of the votes they got.

You know I would have bought that line of reasoning except for the fact that Ed Reed won Defensive POY and hes a safety. If a safety can win the biggun then a safety should be able to win the littlun'

Bullsh*t...anyone who watched Taylor closely as the year progressed knows he deserved DROY. Much like the Pro Bowl seclection process, it is all obviously a function of the team's record.

F'em...Taylor will be a Hall of Famer when people won't even remember Vilma's name in 5 years.

... and anybody that has watched any of the other vote getters would surely agree that some of those guys played just as good and even better than Sean Taylor.

Vilma deserves all the credit he gets, take off those burgundy glasses for a change.

Indeed Vilma and Robinson, who I thought should have been DROY, definately deserved to be the top players in votes.

All 3 of the players in front of Taylor started from day 1, I believe. Otherwise he got completely disrespected. Of course, those 3 or 4 TDs he gave up in the last few games didn't help him (granted there isn't a player in the league who could've prevented Moss from making that TD catch). That's something the national media would take in a heartbeat to use against a Skin.

vilma didnt start till about week three

safetys are the Qbs of the offense. they have to step and support the run and they have to cover the pass. theyre just quicker smaller linebackers. theyre the second most important position on the defense

Who cares anyway? Taylor is still better then all them other cats. He changes gameplans and is a playmaker. How many other guys can shut down Chad Johnson, Randy Moss, and TO TWICE?

Do you watch the games?

Moss caught that touchdown over Taylor. TO did end up scoring on us once. Johnson I believed had a very good game against us.

boy
