Golgo-13
I'm making a mix of love songs for my new girlfriend. I am looking for some good ones. Hit me up with suggestions or links to old threads talking about this. Thanks guys.
KingJeremy
What kinds of love songs? Slow and sappy ballads? Mid-tempo? Rockin' paens to love and beauty? I've always hated the stereotype of love song as being one step short of elevator music because "it's a love song...it can't rock." I say rock her pants off... Commander PK
"If you asked me to" by Celine Dion is a good one for new girlfriends. "Here without You" by 3 doors down. Wherever you will go" The Calling. "Back to One" Brian McNight. All decent songs. Edit: I forgot some 80's ballads like: Journey "Open Arms" Foreigner "Waiting for a girl like you" Styx "Lady" (isn't really a ballad, has a great rock groove when it kicks in) These are oldies but goodies. SkinFaninOKC
You need to have a theme. "Slow Jams" or "Rock Ballads". Stick with one theme and don't mix styles. "Slow Jams" include songs by artists such as Keith Sweat, Prince, Guy, and Alexander O'Neal. "Rock Ballads" include such artists as Bon Jovi, Warrant, Motley Crue, Skid Row, and Stryper. Montilar
If you want to be blunt about it and give a very non-subtle hint, there's always sophie B. The Ronettes: Be My Baby (old) The Honey Drippers: Sea Of Love UB40: Baby I Love Your Way (a cover of someone elses song?) Only Fools Rush In/Can't Help Falling In Love (cover of Elvis presley I think) The Way You Do The Things You Do Lobo: I'd Love You To Want Me Barry White: Can't get Enough Of Your Love Luther Vandross: Always and Forever (he has others) The supremes: My Baby Love Marvin Gaye: When A Man Loves A Woman Smokey Robinson: My Girl Everlasting Love: by whoever it was Alias: More Than Words Can Say Andy gibb/Beegees: If I Can't Have You Billy Ocean: Suddenly (your in love) The Colour of Love Bonnie Tyler??: Total Eclipse of the Heart Diana Ross and the supremes: Stop In the name of love Heart: What About Love Little River Band: Lady Peter Cetera: Glory of Love Even a Fool Can see The next time I fall Feels Like Heaven

Ghost of
I like Lionel Ritchie's "Do it to Me One More Time," excellent song. But I am stumped--what is a "love song?" I once sung "I'll Make Love to You" with my old girl back in the day(meaning both of us sung it to each other) but is that a classic love song? YES. YES IT IS. But what about songs with a hint of sadness? Hey, Course of Nature's "Caught in the Sun" is pretty good for that kind of thing.
Burgold
I can't believe no one mentioned "Love Stinks" or "What's Love Got to Do With It?" Here's an odd choice, but it works pretty well... Maria from West Side Story.
