The Ridgeway suplex was not violent in the least. Its not like he dropped him on his head or threw him violently to the ground.

Officials blow the whistle on run plays quicker than anyone has ever seen and that is likely a factor but otherwise that was just brute strength not a penalty.

It wasn't as violent as it looked, but it was completely unnecessary and so easy to go so wrong safety wise. I know it wasn't bad this time, but all it takes is Ridgeway or the RB to get hit from behind, lose his grip, and then dump him straight onto his head. It should be flagged, as odds are something real bad will happen if that move keeps being allowed.

It's awesome in the old game NFL Blitz, but not in real life.

Didn't throw him to the ground? LMFAO.

Ridgeway and Smith-Williams threw him violently to the ground together, but Ridgeway was the one that picked him up. If that was Jordan Reed we watched, Washington fans would be demanding a season-long suspension.

I think he had a wrestling flashback...but regardless, Ridgeway is an AMAZING addition.  He's a great run defender...not much of a pass rusher but he's a beast of a run stuffer.  He's one nasty son of a gun

Ridgeway is actually lucky as **** that he didn't get ejected from the game + a fine and/or suspension. I have no clue how anyone is defending that, it's incredibly dangerous. That isn't even legal in wrestling and BJJ, let alone football.

Incredibly dangerous? Fact that he didn't get suspended says otherwise. At no point was he close to being dropped straight down on his head. Pierce popped Ridgeway up off his feet and should have gone down instead of face the wrath of John 'The Animal' Ridgeway. Helmet to helmet collisions are violent. A slant at Mike or Free is violent. A guy being flipped onto his back is no where near as violent as many other hits that happen every game. We can call that Unncessary roughness and move on but the game has turned very soft. "Tackling" an RB without going down happens almost every drive now even when forward progress hasn't been conclusively stopped.

Pierce was more likely to get injured when he got slammed down on this snap by Allen @ 00:45. Take a look at the semi suplex at 4:39 as well
