RonArtest15
I was going to hold off until Thursday, but on the heels of the big "trade" that's about to be approved between the Clippers and C's, I figured I would get the new thread started. This should be a very interesting off-season. We have the draft in a couple of days, free agency around the corner, guys like Boogie demanding a max deal (or wants to be traded), etc. 2012-13 season was amazing, and this year should be no different. Destino
Not sure if Rivers is enough to push the Clippers in the post season. They need more guys that can create offense in the starting unit. Point guards are often relied upon too much and that doesn't seem to work in the post season,

RonArtest15
The Rivers trade pretty much ensures that CP3 will be coming back. One thing, they need to move DeAndre Jordan. For as breathtaking as his highlights are, he's extremely overrated. *Speaking of centers, what's going to happen with Andrew Bynum?
Destino
Deandre Jordan isn't really over rated, he's just not a good center in a league filled with not very good centers. Billups and Butler could certainly be upgraded though.
RonArtest15
Billups is off the books and Butler is expiring.... Maybe they can find someone in the 2nd round (or through FA) who can take Butler's eventual place. If not, they'll probably try to move him. Remember, there was a rumor that had Butler/Bledsoe going to Orl for Afflalo.
Going Commando
I think CP3 was always going to sign in LA. He wasn't going to walk away from the money. He was just trying to use the only leverage he had to exert influence on the decisions of the FA. Had his cake and ate it too. If they hadn't gotten Doc Rivers, I bet he would signed. But I bet he would have been surly and not totally invested and have forced a trade somewhere down the line. Bad situation for everyone averted. I think Orlando should trade for Bledsoe so they can draft McLemore or Oladipo and still have a PG. They'd be awfully young, but Bledsoe + McLemore/Dipo + Harkless + Harris + Vucevic is a nice starting five on paper. Good long term upside. It could be a Memphis style group that grows up together, no one dominant guy, but a good unit collectively. I don't think it makes sense for LA to bogart two good, similar PGs when the backup is potentially a valuable trade chip. Neither Bledsoe nor Paul are big time shooters/scorers. Both are a little undersized and can't easily play the 2. Playing them together isn't ideal. You obviously want Paul over Bledsoe. So deal Bledsoe for some help at other positions. I think the Nuggets messed up a good thing. How do you go to the triangle from the runningest and gunningest team since Dantoni's Suns. Maybe even more than those Suns teams. Because the triangle is better than running gunning point guard reliant offenses that always seem to come up short in the post season? It is a bit strange to change everything now though especially when their post season failure can largely be attributed to injuries and a Golden State team that suddenly realized they were good. It's not small thing to have the teams second leading scorer (Gallinari) out and also have Faried slowed by injury. Looking at their salary info Ty Lawson is their highest paid player going into next season now that Iggy opted out of his final year. He makes about 37,000 more than their second highest paid player next season... JaVale McGee. Edited June 25, 2013 by Destino
Going Commando
That JaVale contract was a big mistake. How do you go from buyer's remorse on the Nene extension to going out and spending all that money on JaVale McGee the very next offseason?? Denver could have been pretty good if not for mistakes like that. Lawson & Faried are something. Koufos and Chandler aren't terrible. Iggy was a nice get and Gallinari was ok. A legit star to pair with Lawson and they could have had something. They're going to get deconstructed. GS and Houston are passing them.

It's not small thing to have the teams second leading scorer (Gallinari) out and also have Faried slowed by injury. Glad to see somebody else acknowledge that I'm the resident ES Nuggets fanby. Hi. I know injuries are part of the game, but when Gallinari went down 10 days before the playoffs, I knew the Nuggets were done. As you said, he's there second highest scorer on the team, but most importantly he was the Nuggets best shooter. I was really bummed out about it too, because all I ever heard across the internet was "teams need a superstar in the playoffs." and I was so sure this Nuggets team could help me tell the entire internet to suck it LOL. But when Gallinari went down and grabbed his knee and started rolling around on the floor, I knew their playoff hopes were done. Nuggets nation has mixed feelings about the Brian Shaw hiring. local sports radio has been going bonkers. A lot of folks are excited about the player development aspect Shaw brings, as the Nuggets are one of the youngest teams in the league. But on the other hand, a lot of folks are wondering if he might try to implement the triangle offense, which is exactly what this team isn't. The Nuggets are the fastest team in the NBA. They led the league in total points scored, fast break points, and points in the paint. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. The half court offense is probably Denver's weak spot, and they don't even have the right personnel to run the triangle. #1 priority for Denver is to resign Igoudala, and then go find themselves a shooter since Gallinari will probably be out until Christmas. CrypticVillain
Whatever Chewy, the Nuggets sucked. There was a debate on Mike & Mike this morning about how Durant might want to go to NY or a bigger market now that he is with Jay-Z. I'm not sure I buy that. I am not talking out the side of my neck when I say this, but THE ONLY TEAM Durant would leave OKC for at this time is the Wizards. And even then it would only be because somebody did him wrong in the Thunder organization. Dude loves it in OKC, he is a borderline idol down there lol

Sure it's a smaller market, but Durant doesn't seem like the guy who wants to be constanty in the spotlight. I don't seem him leaing OKC either unless somethig goes teribly wrong there. Plus he's there for 3 more years anyway.
