BRAVEONAWARPATH
http://terrapinstationmd.com/2014/06/12/4-star-kareem-ali-terp/ Timber Creek CB Kareem Ali Commits To The Terps The good news just keeps on rolling for the Maryland football program. On Thursday afternoon, Timber Creek (NJ) four-star cornerback Kareem Ali picked the Terrapins over Louisville and Pittsburgh in a recruitment that Maryland seemed to be the only constant. Ali originally had a top four of Louisville, Maryland, Pittsburgh, and West Virginia. Not only did Ali visit Maryland, but he also visited Louisville and Pittsburgh over the past week leading up to his announcement. Ali is a top 15 player in New Jersey and the 44th best cornerback in the 2015 class, according to 247Sports’ Composite rankings. The Sicklerville native will also play in the 2015 U.S. Army All-American Bowl, which is nationally televised on NBC. Before Penn State hired James Franklin, Ali seemed destined for the Nittany Lions and was ready to commit. Then Franklin came and did not contact Ali. That obviously changed things and forced a reset on his recruitment. However, Maryland continued recruiting him hard because they saw all the potential and fundamentals in this young man. Gus Little, a 6-foot-3, 220-pound inside linebacker who plays at Massaponax High School in Fredericksburg, committed early Thursday evening, several weeks after he picked up an offer from Maryland. He took to Twitter shortly after to announce his decision. Little is considered a three-star prospect by Rivals and also carried offers from Virginia, Old Dominion and Boston College, among others. Junior Brett Zanotto (Murraysville, Pa.) became the Terps’ second commitment several hours later. The outside linebacker, who plays at Franklin Regional High School, also picked up traction on the recruiting circuit over the past year, holding offers from Syracuse, Temple and Boston College. Maryland has secured eight commitments, four of them on the defense, in the past 12 days. The Terps also picked up pledges from New Jersey corner Kareem Ali and Mbi Tanyi on the same day last week. At Ridge Point High School, Cook has been used as an inside and outside linebacker, as well as a kick returner and wide receiver. On special teams, the 6'1" 190-pound defensive back was able to cut corners with his explosive speed to block a few punts. Cook is considered a three-star prospect by the 247sports composite, ranking him as the 95th-best safety in the nation and the 156th-best prospect in the state of Texas. His highlight reel speaks for itself, showcasing his ability to rush the passer, track down offensive players from behind and force fumbles. The class of 2015 recruit received his first offer from Colorado in early February, getting two more from Missouri and Maryland later that month. He later picked up offers from Kentucky, Arizona State, Minnesota and Iowa State, among others. Cook is the son of former NFL fullback Jameel Cook and the brother of two-star running back prospect Remus Bulmer. Cook is Maryland's 13th commitment in the class and the second of the day, following Florida wide receiver Jahrvis Davenport. He joins cornerback Kareem Ali as the Terps' two secondary commits in the class.

Savage is Maryland's 14th commitment in the class, joining cornerback Kareem Ali and safety Jameel Cook as the Terps' secondary commits. Savage, listed at 5'10" and 172 pounds, attends Carvel Academy in Delaware, and is considered the second-best prospect in the state by the 247sports composite. He is rated as a three-star recruit, and is considered the 63rd-best cornerback in the nation. That's probably the most likely position for him at the next level, but he is also listed as a running back and holds the vague tag of "athlete." Cornerback is a position of high importance for the Terps in this class, as they look to replace the graduations of Dexter McDougle, Isaac Goins and Jeremiah Johnson over the course of two seasons. Savage was one of the top corner targets for the Terps, and helps strengthen their pipeline in the small state. He'll join three-/four-star cornerback Kareem Ali as the Terps' two players currently committed at corner.

Memorabilia from the Big Ten Open at Congressional Country Club sat on a top shelf. A 2014 football schedulewas taped to a cabinet. Stacks of paper were sprawled on the desk before him, some crammed into binders labeled “Big Ten Handbook” and “Big Ten Integration Committee,” atop three legal pads with handwritten notes about the school’s new home. “These are my Big Ten piles,” the associate athletic director said on a recent afternoon. “I can’t believe it’s almost here.”

Fresh off an improbable BCS bowl run at Connecticut, he replaced reigning ACC Coach of the Year Ralph Friedgen as the program aimed to improve from "good to great," in the words of Maryland athletic director Kevin Anderson. The transition didn't go according to plan, as Edsall dropped 14 of his first 17 conference games, including a 63-0 loss at Florida State in the 2013 ACC opener. The Terrapins steadily gained stability last fall, capitalizing on crucial road victories at Virginia Tech and North Carolina State to reach a bowl game for the first time in three years. Maryland enters its fourth season of the Edsall era in uncharted territory, becoming a new kid on the block in Big Ten Conference circles. The move, and some key coaching changes, have restored a sense of excitement more than three months before Ohio State comes to town for the team's Big Ten home opener. Cornerback Kareem Ali, who committed to Maryland earlier this month over the likes of Louisville, Pittsburgh and Florida, sums up the sentiment. "They're on the come up," the New Jersey native said. BRAVEONAWARPATH
Click on the link to read the rest. http://247sports.com/Article/Big-Time-Prospects-Headed-To-The-Big-Show-At-Maryland-29366202 The Big Show At Maryland Is A Big Event The Big Show at Maryland on Saturday evening certainly has a lot of big names. Many of the nation’s top prospects are in College Park this weekend for the Terrapins premier football camp, where they’ll get a chance to interact with head coach Randy Edsall and his coaching staff along with players on the team, in what should be an awesome environment. Familiar Faces Expected The Terrapins head into the weekend with 15 commits in the class-of-2015, a recruiting haul that ranks No. 25 nationally according to 247Sports, good for No. 5 in the Big Ten. Three expected to visit that would add serious star power to the group, and three that Maryland currently leads on the 247Sports Crystal Ball for, will be back on campus in four-star quarterbackKai Locksley, Top100 offensive tackle Isaiah Prince, and four-star offensive guard Quarvez Boulware. Maryland is batting national heavyweights for all three, with the competition for Prince including Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Ohio State and Tennessee, while Locksley is also high on Auburn, Florida State and Texas among others. Besides the Terrapins, Boulware’s lead group includes Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Miami, North Carolina and Wake Forest. As Edsall and his staff continue to talk about landing the right guys in the DMV area to build the program, adding prospects like Prince, Boulware and Locksley, especially a summer commitment from Locksley, could prove to be huge moving forward. More Big Timers At The Big Show A strong group from the Sunshine State is in town as Edsall and company want to connect top players from around the nation, getting them to talk about Maryland, perhaps playing together at a Maryland, while on the Terrapins campus. This is a return trip for Tampa (Fla.) Sickles Top247 running back Ray-Ray McCloud III. A pair of 247Sports Composite five-stars will get their first look at Maryland in defensive end Byron Cowart from Seffner (Fla.) Armwood and receiver George Campbell from Tarpon Springs (Fla.) East Lake. Another big-time playmaker with a long-list of offers checking out the Terps is Top247 receiver Auden Tate from Tampa (Fla.) Wharton. Not from Florida, but a couple other key targets include Haddonfield (N.J.) Paul Vi Top247 receiver Irvin Charles and Philadelphia (Pa.) Imhotep receiver D.J. Moore. Moore has his offer from Maryland among his leaders alongside Duke and Virginia heading into the weekend. Charles is a good friend of Maryland commit Kareem Ali. Maryland is battling the likes of Florida, Miami and Penn State for his services.
BRAVEONAWARPATH
http://www.nfl.com/photoessays/0ap2000000361531 14 for '14: Top recruiters in college football Recruiting is the lifeblood of college football programs and responsible for winning games just as much as the NFL draft is for every team in the league. With a recruiting cycle that has stretched earlier and earlier, coaches are tasked with developing relationships with teenage phenoms longer than ever and selling them on their program. College Football 24/7’s 14 for ’14 series continues with a look at some of the top recruiters in the game in recent years. 2 Mike Locksley, Maryland It seems like Locksley has been a mainstay at Maryland as an assistant, but he's left a mark as a recruiter at just about every stop save for the one as a head coach at New Mexico. He paid immediate dividends for Randy Edsall by landing players like stud receiver Stefon Diggs despite a 2-10 season the year before. He is close to unbeatable with Washington D.C.-area prospects and is a big reason why the Terps' program has seen an infusion of young talent as it heads off to the Big Ten.
