@DCGoldPants
when they find Captain America frozen down there, they'll regret it. Seriously,. I'm sure the science is amazing. Probably species that have evolved there for millions of years if not many times older, without any outside influence.
Unforgiven
They made it. http://www.washingtonpost.com/national/health-science/russians-drill-into-previously-untouched-lake-vostok-below-antarctica/2012/02/06/gIQAGziNuQ_story.html "Russian scientists have drilled into the vast, dark and never-before-touched Lake Vostok 2.2 miles below the surface of Antarctica, according to a source quoted Monday by Ria Novosti, a state-run Russian news agency...." Elessar78
The Russians’ plan for this year’s Lake Vostok expedition has been to use a thermal drill on the last 30 feet of ice and then pierce the lake and, in effect, suck some of the water a short way up the borehole. The ice will then freeze and be extracted late this year. I think they'll suck some water to the surface and sell it for $20,000/liter. What Russian billionaire wouldn't pay for 14 million year old mineral water?? No one else would have it at their swank party. That **** is baller!! grhqofb5
I don't know. Isn't most the stuff in there dead by now?
More Complete
So they are going to let some water up the shaft, freeze it, then remove and analyze it? Seems if anything was alive it would move away from the freezing temps or die. I was hoping they would pump up some of the liquid stuff.
GibbsFactor
Very Exciting. Hope we get to hear details about what they find. You've never seen Transformers or Alien Vs Predator? We already know what they will find. And it will be the doom of all of us. I predict that in about 10 months we will see first hand. :paranoid:
