i'd start him over Markieff

The reason I wouldn't, probably the only reason, is becasue of that energy Oubre brings. Today was the ideal situation that shows why I like him off the bench.

I can't stand Fraizer or Mahinmi man. They just take every ounce of excitement from me.

I'm 100% down for trading for okafor. And I was trying to get him last year too. But it can't include the first.

Imo, we thrive with hungry players trying to prove themselves ( Morris, Caron, Arenas, etc). I can't think of a dude in the league right now more thirsty than Jahil.

Two possible years of deandre would be nice too.

Brooks broke a lot of bad habits tonight and coached very well.  Hero ball is garbage, we didn't go to that today and the offense kept generating quality shots in crunch time.  He also played a much stronger defensive lineup to close out the game.  It helps that Ian probably played his best game of the season.

Some thoughts:

- Mahinmi needs to play with the starters.  He is USELESS with the bench 99% of the time.  But he can be a fifth option defensive specialist with the starters.

- Scott could play with the starters more too, like he did in crunch time.  He's a little better on defense than Morris, although it's close enough between the two that they're interchangeable on that end.  He's a better shot maker, Morris is a better shot creator.  At any rate, when Wall gets back, Beal won't be playing PG in crunch time so I think you leave both on the bench in favor of Oubre.

- Morris + Gortat with the bench makes for a much smoother offense from that unit.  I am for getting rid of the bench mob rotation and having those two lead the unit.  Make them early subs and have them come back in with a couple minutes to go in the first.  Frazier + Meeks + Sato/Oubre + Morris + Gortat is pretty good.

- The only way we're going to get better play from Gortat is if he's only playing 20-24 minutes a night.

- Beal running point down the stretch went better than I thought it would.  He couldn't hit to save his life but he was getting himself decent looks and the ball wasn't stopping.  It helped that Otto was also much more assertive tonight.  He kept up the search for shots once he checked back in around the three minute mark, instead of pulling his disappearing act.  I suspect that him being such a late sub in the fourth might have been a factor in why he was more assertive tonight.  I honestly don't think Otto's conditioning is that good.  I think he's been getting worn down by wings who are stronger than him almost every night, and it's why he tends to disappear late in games.

They ran plays for Otto late, I think Beal mentioned it after the game.  It wasn't Otto just being aggressive.  If you have a player that can score, but isn't great dribbling the ball, there is no avoiding the need to call plays for them.  There's no excuse not to.

Problem is Sato isn't really a natural PG either.

But I agree that, at this point, you have to find a way to get him on the floor.  We need to go positionless.

Brooks needs to outgrow the point guard over dribble offense.  Wall and Westbrook can succeed at that because they are absurdly talented, but that's never going to work for bench caliber guards.  Even Beal can't run it and he's pretty damned talented.

I agree with you about positionless ball, but that requires a lot of off ball action and a more structured offense.  Built in ball movement.  We did a lot of that last night and it worked great.  Granted, it was against a terrible defense, but the more this team runs set plays the better their execution will be.

And with Walls health, it would probably be a good idea to make things easier on him as well.  Running through much larger players to create anything for anyone isn't a recipe for a long healthy career.

I was so frustrated by Beal’s ice cold shooting, runs by the Wolves and seeing shot after shot rattle out of the basket that I bailed on the game and went to bed.  Can’t believe we came back and won this one!

You missed a fun game.  It's not often that a Wizards bench annihilates an opponent or outscores the starting unit.
