Deion: McNabb deal 'dumbest trade ever'

In the past, Deion Sanders has made two things clear:

1. He's a Donovan McNabb fan.

2. He can't stand Eagles fans.

So it should really come as no surprise that Sanders sounded off during an NFL Network appearance tonight when asked what his first thought was when he heard the news that the Eagles had dealt McNabb to the Redskins.

"First of all, I gathered myself and sat down because I couldn't believe that this was the dumbest thing I've ever heard in my entire life, except for that Herschel Walker 'shibocle' years ago," Sanders said, apparently so distraught that he had to make up a new word. "But you trade a guy in your own division that you got to see him twice, and you have [Kevin] Kolb, [LeSean] McCoy, [Jeremy] Maclin and DeSean Jackson - seven years amongst the complete trio of playmakers that you have for an 11-year guy that has taken you to five NFC championships and a Super Bowl. Man, are you kidding me?"

Sanders was asked if the Redskins have leapfrogged the Eagles in the NFC East pecking order. He said the Cowboys and Giants are at the top of the division, and then it's a toss-up between the Eagles and the Redskins.

That's when co-host Warren Sapp jumped in.

"You look at these two teams... they swapped quarterbacks," Sapp said. "Now the Philadelphia Eagles have the worst quarterback in the division, and the Redskins have one of the best defenses, and now you give him a veteran quarterback. Prime, Philadelphia's at the bottom of this division right now." :ols:

That's all it took to convince Sanders.

"You know what, I would agree with you, big fella. I would," he said. "Dumbest trade ever. I'm still mad about this trade."

Maybe we can get Deion and Brian Baldinger to duke it out?

You may remember that a couple years ago after the Eagles beat the eventual NFC champion Cardinals at home on Thanksgiving, McNabb made an NFL Network appearance where Sanders called Eagles fans "idiotic" and admitted that he couldn't stand them.

One Andy Reid sidenote to all this. For the first time in years, he'll be able to play the whole "nobody thinks we're any good" angle. Almost every season during the McNabb/Reid era, the Eagles have been a popular or trendy pick to make noise in the NFC.

But in 2010?

It doesn't look like that'll be the case. I don't know exactly what that different mindset counts for. Ultimately, it will come down to whether the players are good enough. But as we see athletes create feelings of disrespect for added motivation all the time, it certainly can't hurt.

Philly is building themselves some kind of offensive monster that they are going to let grow up and play together. Kolb (25), Shady (21), DeSean (23), Maclin (21), and Celek (25) are going to potentially be a scary combo in the coming years.

Except in a few years, when it comes time for all of their second contracts, and Philly won't pony up. Then they'll be scary for other teams. :ols:

Adam Schefter is reporting that there are whispers around the NFL that the Eagles sent McNabb to us because they were worried that we may get Bradford, and they don't want to face Bradford twice a year for the next 10 seasons? They felt that the trade would greatly diminish our chances to get SB.

Can that be true, that we are so stupid with talent evaluation we now have other teams controlling who or how we draft? I had that feeling that that was exactly what was going on with Holmgrens statement about Clausen, he said he wished that he liked Clausen more, I thought the moment I heard him say that that it was a ploy to sway us not to draft him, and keep the price down if he needs to move up? I think personally Holmgren is in love with Clausen, Clausen looks like a better version of Hasselbech, I would love to see him pass Clausen up if he's there when Seattle picks?

Personally I would call his bluff and bait him into moving up, I still think we will have a nice opportunity to recoup our draft with a couple of trade downs, and I think at this point that is what we should do, I don't think there is a huge drop off in OT's later in the 1st and the 2nd rd, I don't see Okung as a great OT just maybe the best available this draft.

I really hope that you are smart enough to not believe such a thing. No team is dictating what the Redskins are doing.

I agree they could be potentially very good for a long time. The only thing is if Kolb doesn't pan out they could be set back for years. When you have a franchise QB you ride him till his arm falls off you don't trade him at 33. The Packers got lucky as ****, god was smiling on their asses when they got Aaron Rodgers. Getting back to back franchise QB's just doesn't happen, hell we haven't had one since Theisman. We were one pick from having Aaron Rodgers, but thats another issue. Hopefully McNabb plays great and Kolb plays like crap and all will be happy in Redskins land.

When a show boating mindless idiot like Neon Deion can see that we robbed the Eagles it makes you wonder what the heck is wrong with these people around here.

Yes, , clearly when an idiot has one opinion, then people who disagree must be Super Idiots. That's the only possible explanation there.

Kind of naive, teams have been manipulating us with trades the entire Snyder era, why would this be any different?

It comes down to the ability to evaluate talent, if the Eagles know what they are doing then they may be right about both McNabb, and Bradford, it's not like we have shown the ability to make those kind of evaluations.

Those of us who didn't like the trade think Andy Reid knows more about Donovan than a show-boating mindless idiot like Deion knows about Donovan.:D

And were not? If DM turns out to be finished after all' date=' and Kolb goes onto a pro bowl season, who looks like the schmuck then?

I think we have more to lose than the Eagles on this one.[/quote']

The Eagles definetely have more to lose. The Redskins are already a laughingstock so if it turns out that this is another bad offseason aquisition, it's just more of the same.

The Eagles on the other hand, are used to being playoff competitors. If this doesn't work out, they could end up like, well... the Redskins.

If Vinny was still in the FO, I might be more concerned about such thing, so I can see your point. However, I feel confident that Allen/Shanny are smart enough and have the ability to make those kind of evaluations.
