ixcuincle
They will get a stud player out of the deal hopefully. Roy didn't want to hang around there anyways, so he might as well be dealt for young pitching arms. Either way, Roy or no Roy, the Jays are not even close to sniffing the playoffs for at least 3 years

pjfootballer
Nick Johnson starting back where he came from. Glad the Yankees didn't get Halladay and lost Matsui and now possibly Damon.
StillUnknown
http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=4764085 Yankees trade Melky Cabrera to the Braves for Javier Vazquez. Vazquez broke down during the 2nd half of his 1st stint with the Yanks, but if all they need him is as 3rd or 4th starter, then this a good deal for them
JMURedskins
I don't get this trade for the Braves. I would be willing to bet that they could have found a team willing to give more after the way that he pitched last year.

He was their best pitcher and they basically gave him away for nothing.

He was their best pitcher and they basically gave him away for nothing. yeah i'm surprised they let him go for Cabrera. Vazquez always struck me as more of a national league pitcher though. i'm not sure how well he'll do with the yanks. he wont have as much pressure this time around as he will be 3rd in the rotation this move probably means that Joba will be the primary setup man for Rivera next season since they definitely want to move Hughes back into the rotation

MattFancy
I didn't think he wanted to go there. I guess there was no where else for him to go. Not sure how this helps the Mets. They need pitching more than anything. Bay will help, but I don't think this puts them any closer to the Phillies.
Hitman#21
Love the move, as a mets fan. Now lets hope Omar has some tricks up his sleeve for SP.

Bubble Screen
vazquez wasn't that expensive relative to his performance. getting rid of Derrick Lowe would've constituted a salary dump True. But no one wanted Lowe. And the Braves HAD to unload one of them, in order to get another bat or two. In this case, Cabrera and Glaus.

jbooma
Beltre is close to a deal with the Red Sox It is done Beltre signed with the Red Sox. The sox are transforming their team to pitching and defense which is going to help them a lot.
MattFancy
Good move by the Red Sox. I like what they are doing. Instead of loading up on hitter to try to out hit the Yankees, which will be tough to do, they decided to load up on pitching and defense. The Red Sox won't be winning by scoring 8 to 10 runs a game anymore. They'll have a lot of low scoring games, which should work to their advantage. MattFancy
Good move for the Cards to re-sign Holliday. Now they need to work on locking up Pujols long-term. Sad to see Randy Johnson go. Easily one of the best pitchers of all-time. He pretty much accomplished everything he could. Won a World Series, World Series MVP, 5 time Cy Young Winner, perfect game, no-hitter, 300 wins, and 2nd all-time in Ks. 1st ballot HoFer for sure! ixcuincle
Good for RJ. Save a forgettable few years in NYC (and he really didn't do that bad for the Pinstripes IMO) he was a fine pitcher. Several Randy Johnson memories - The time he hit a bird while pitching - The time he appeared in a commercial with Jim Rome staffer Kyle Brandt - The time he told that reporter "Don't talk back to me all right"
