Obama's blackness plays a role in the hate we are seeing. Obviously they would not be as upset if a white man had won.

Are you saying that 47 mil voted for the other guy because Obama is black? People were calling me a racist when I didn't vote for Obama. Any time you disagree with Obama you are called a racist. I think an overwhelming portion of the intensely demonstrated animosity toward President Barack Obama is based on the fact that he is a black man, that he is African-American.

For the record, the only non-obvious portion of Carter's quote is "overwhelming". He may or may not be right in that. He would be stating the obvious if he had said "some" instead of "overwhelming". It was certainly not productive for him to say that, and WH did the right thing by distancing themselves from it.
