So far, the following are not participating in the scrimmage: Clinton Portis, Santana Moss, Albert Haynesworth, DeAngelo Hall, Devin Thomas, Randy Thomas, Cornelius Griffin, Carlos Rogers, Phillip Daniels, and Mike Williams. Stephon Heyer is also unlikely to play, but we have no confirmation of this at this time.

To this point, the traffic is not bad. So, get in your vehicle and get out here!!

REFFKIN'S RAMBLINGS

The scrimmage just wrapped up at Redskins Park. I would certainly give the nod to the defense. The offense moved the ball some, but mostly just dinked and dunked. Jeremy Bridges (starting right tackle today), went down with a right sprained ankle. I feel that Jeremy Jarmon stood out. Justin Tryon played well until a pass interference penalty that gave the offense their biggest gain of the day. Brian Orakpo is truly the real deal. He is going to be a very good player for a long time.

The offensive line opened up a couple of holes for the young backs, but struggled in pass protection. With Williams and Heyer out, the right side did not show well. The line was somewhat protected by the quick short passing strategy of the scripted plays.

Quarterback play was spotty. Colt did not impress. Campbell threw a pick and only threw check down routes. Daniel was inconsistent. Collins looked poised and threw well.

With Portis out and Betts only getting a couple of passes, Mason, Rock, and Alridge got the majority of the repetitions. Mason looked solid. Rock is consistent, but not very explosive. Alridge has great quickness and speed, but fumbled again. His days are numbered.

Here is the play by play:

First Offense V Second Defense

1. Campbell scrambles for 2

2. Dixon off side

Oh what I would give to be seem some video of this scrimmage. If anyone is going to tape or knows of a website that will PLEASE post.

Let us warn everyone now, the PR guys have already come in and said we'll be able to shoot drills before the scrimmage, but that once it begins, we'll only be able to shoot the scrimmage for a couple minutes.

Out of curiousity Murf, why do you believe that is?

Is it some copyright thing? Someone else has the rights? Or is it for the purposes of secrecy?

I'm guessing here, but I would think it has something to do with the pros capturing too much in their photos or video (specific formations, etc.) and then putting it out there for the world to see. In the NFL, everyone is overly cautious when it comes to letting opponents see what you're doing.

That being said, it's funny that I, with a credential, have to stop as soon as the scrimmage begins, but the person with a VIP pass standing behind me can shoot the entire session. Oh well. Such is life.

Cool. Thanks for the coverage.

I guess I'll have to keep an eye on youtube for scrimmage video then...of course it will be shakey cam, probably out of focus and have garbage audio :silly:

I guess so. It just doesn't seem like that big of a deal though.

Preseason games are televised. All four of them.

Yes, but most preseason offenses are vanilla. I'd guess in a scrimmage the coaches might want to try some new things to test out without anyone seeing them.

Only speculation though.

So, what was the general impression? Was the O-line able to compete at all? Were they able to rush? Did Campbell look sharp or rusty? Do his receivers have hands? Is the D as nasty as training camp reports led us to believe?

The offensive line played the way they did the entire camp. Bridges went down to make things worse. Rinehart and Burley wrapped things up. Burley was not very good. Hopefully Heyer and/or Williams can get some snaps versus the Ravens.
