TradeTheBeal!
Jeff Loomis from Nevermore. I love his style. He's freakin amazing at shred guitar but his ability to mix in melodic licks with shred is crazy. I love the range of the stuff he's wrote for Nevermore and his solo album Zero Order Phase is genius.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UjfUMLeKd5E - my favorite song from his solo album - song Psalm of Lydia from his band Nevermorehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XxUm1hzYWCA - Believe in Nothing He is amazing and I barely hear people mention him... Another guy I really like is Michael Romeo from Symphony X. It's too bad I can't listen to Symphony X because of their singer. Romeo is amazing though. All Hail the mighty Jeff Loomis! The dude is a monster.
John Lydon
1. Jim "Reverand Horton Heat" Heath - Greatest Rockabilly guitarist ever. Saw him live twice and he's just as good live as on his albums. Definately worth checking out if you like blues, country, rockabilly, or punk. 2. Jason Becker - someone already listed him and I second it. 3. Michaelangelo Batio - Serious speed! This guy is BLAZING quick!

Bliz
Derek Trucks Derek Trucks is a bad bad man, but I'm not really into the DTB. His stuff with the Allman Bros, on the other hand, is fantastic. Derek Trucks and Warren Haynes are an insane combo. But I don't know that he's underappreciated http://www.rollingstone.com/news/coverstory/the_new_guitar_gods_john_mayer_john_frusciante_derek_trucks Igor Presnyakov. He has a lot of solo acoustic covers on youtube, and he is absolutely ridiculous. Beat it Sweet Child O Mine Californication Fur Elise

DieselPwr44
I think alot of folks over look this guy because: 1: They know him more for the movies he's been in 2: He was early rockabilly/country So I'll use his words to describe him. MartinC
Johnny Marr anyone? Such a jangly riff,, catchy as all hell, especially from 2.25 on to the end. ~Bang I'm a huge Johnny Marr fan. There is more to playing guitar than blazing speed and 10 minute solos. Dave Gilmour is another favourite of mine though I guess its hard to call him underappreciated. Love his solo work for the melody and feeling. Finally I would throw in Robbie Robertson from The Band for similar reasons to Dave Gilmour. The link below is to 'What Difference does it Make' which is anothe example of Johnny Marr at his absolute best - what a riff. Jimmy is the Govenor though.
