fire3fighter4
Brought up earlier by the announcers....what are your thoughts about icing the kickers?..(selecting multiple options is an option).
AirMayo21
I've always thought that icing the kicker is a stupid idea. How often does it work? I wish someone had that stat. Whenever I see an opposing coach ice the kicker, it doesnt work. I dont think it ever has...
Riggins77
it doesn't work. Here's an idea, play defense until the end of the game and stop them from getting into field goal range. Beat yet again, by a horrible NFC West team by a field goal with no time left in the 4th qtr. Pisses me right off.
MSB 21
Did not work this time
kwitt
Doesn't work. Garbage.
JuicyJ
It doesn't work. There's a good debate/article with strong stats & numbers out there somewhere that pretty much nullifies the "icing the kicker" argument...I'll try to find it and throw it up here~
Commander PK
Icing the Kicker = Epic Fail I've seen more missed kicks a split second after the timeout is called, and then the kicker gets a second chance. Usually, he makes it the second time. Let them play the game. If your defense had done their job, you wouldn't have to "ice" the kicker.
hail2skins
I'm OK with it as long as you don't call two timeouts in a row
Burgundy&Gold4Ever
W/ the way the NFL plays these days, it'll rattle the kicker more if you don't call the timeout b/c it's expected. I've never seen any stats about it, but I don't think icing the kicker does anything, anyway.
ArsheimSkins
It's a whatever thing for me. I'd prefer just let em kick it
Hunter_R
It's such a good idea that a former coach did it twice.
PCG21
Better Question is why do you call a timeout on 4th and goal with over a minute left???? Let the playclock go all the way down and then call the timeout. Then the 49er's would only have about 30 seconds to come back down the field. Our defense could of been better in the last minute though.
Gracelander
I think if it's used properly it could be effective. Also I think it may depend on the distance the kicker has to kick, but 20 to 30 is/should be a gimme.
Dan T.
Icing the kicker doesn't work. The 30-second time out is just enough time for him to get settled down and focusing on the task at hand. In 95% of the cases it helps rather than hinders the kicker. Better Question is why do you call a timeout on 4th and goal with over a minute left???? Zorn may have too much going on with play calling and communicating with Campbell, but where are his assistants to remind him of things like this? D'KanSkinFan
Icing the kicker~ well, who knows! This kicker hasn't been consistant~ "who whould have thought?"~ Oh well~ Hail~ Next year
Capt. Kaos
It is silly and played out... why give the kicker time to settle down.... I just dont get it.
CounterTrey75
Not a good idea at all. If anything, it gives the kicker time to focus on making the kick...
Big Mac Patty Wack
How about we stop relying on icing the kicker? Let's finally play an outright dominant game that doesn't hinge on a last second field goal. I'm sick and tired of making excuses for this sorry team.
