gentry000
I wanted to reflect and share a moment that supersedes the game and the emotional let down we all experienced, in hopes that it lifts our spirits. As all the Skins were heading to the locker room after pre-game warm-ups, Jason Taylor ran to the sideline, grabbed his helmet and jogged to the middle of the field. By this time the rest of the team was down the tunnel and he was the only player left on the field. He knelt on the painted tribute to Sean Taylor and said a prayer. When he was done with his prayer, he kissed his hand and placed his hand on the emblem and promptly got up and made his way to the locker room. The stands were only ~20% full at the time, so a lot of people missed it. I was touched by the gesture, so much so that I forgot to snap a picture. Jason hasn't been a Redskin for an entire season yet, was not a teammate of Sean's but respected him as a player and person enough to make this gesture. There was just something special in that moment. This was all before Sean's family was escorted to the field. He didn't have to do it, but wanted to. Very classy act by Jason. :logo:
BigRedskinDaddy
I had not heard that. That's a nice move by JT. Thanks for sharing that brother.
#98QBKiller
They actually showed that on the Fox Pregame show. Jason Taylor is a very classy player and I know that his performance this year is not indicative of what he is actually capable of on the field. Another example of Jason being a class-act was when he took out that ad in the Miami newspaper thanking all of his fans when he was coming here. MintHillSkinsFan
Riggins had a little different take on it on 980 on Monday morning. He said something to the effect that that's what you'd expect from someone on dancing with the stars. Anything for a little publicity. I love Riggo but thought that was a low class comment. kubstix
Everyone does love Riggo as a player but the guy is a JOKE. As a person, he is the dumbest/jealous person I've ever heard talk. Hang up the mic already the guy is a jealous piece of garbage. Everyone does love Riggo as a player but the guy is a JOKE. As a person, he is the dumbest/jealous person I've ever heard talk. Brandon Lloyd Christmas
i loathe jason taylor. the dude might be a classy guy, but hes utterly worthless and is robbing this team currently of money and the future with the picks we gave up for him. i wouldnt care if he was cut in 5 minutes, that way he can go do some more tanning and childrens hospital commericals. maybe we could get someone who cares about producing on the field. damn i hate this guy. but the taylor thing is cool on his part. too bad his on field performance is absolutely worthless. dwbiggs
Sounds like it was a "look at me" moment for JT. He's got Hollywood on his mind and the more press/exposure he can get helps him out when we cut him and he goes to looneyville to make movies. big z
Class act by JT... as for Riggo...i know the history, but i jumped on in '87, so to me he's just a pompous ass when he says such things...
Rocky52Mc
Sounds like it was a "look at me" moment for JT. He's got Hollywood on his mind and the more press/exposure he can get helps him out when we cut him and he goes to looneyville to make movies. Not at all actually...it's a JT ritual. I've seen other games with JT in pre-game and he ALWAYS goes to the 50 yard line (but not the middle) and kneels and prays. Don't question someones religion if they wanna do it with him they can. He went to the emblem to pay respect for a fallen soldier he played opposite sides of the field with. You wouldn't understand unless you were in the situation, unless you were in the NFL. The highest elite form of players to play the game. Respect is beyond what people such as ourselves can understand unless you can truly BE in that situation for such a time like JT. It doesn't matter if you've been in the Army, Navy, Airforce, Marines, what have you..it's a different respect for guys who lay it on the line for peoples entertainment and for one special warrior who died, not on the field but off the field. I wouldn't expect that comment from a Skins fan, I'd expect that from a Dallas fan. Jason Taylor doesn't have Hollywood on his mind. When you play ball you have 2 things on your mind, butterflies and ball. We were 7-4 at the time and had a chance to keep our playoff lead in a game in which we were remember our beloved fallen saftey. In a game in which, the team we played were exact opposites of what happened to himself last year. The #1 pick, the #32nd pick. You play football to win, I don't care WHAT you say. ThePreciating
Those of you trashing Riggo should wash your mouths out with soap. Chanhillbilly
During training camp, he had worked his way down the entire sideline signing autographs for folks and he started to jog towards the building when a young individual in a wheel chair called out for him. He stopped dead in his tracks and reversed field to go sign the kids football and have his picture taken with him. It was about 98 degrees, everyone was beat. I thought it was a real class act for him to take the time despite being tired, beat, hurting, hot and having signed about 300 autographs already. With that said, he isn't the right guy at the moment for this team. Maybe a passing situations only guy? maybe he is still really hurting from the operations. I know I would be. He's got Hollywood on his mind and the more press/exposure he can get helps him out when we cut him and he goes to looneyville to make movies. No offense, but comments like this really make me question whether some of the fans on this site really have any sort of grasp of reality. People only see him for an underachieving player because that's all they care about when it comes to the 'skins. People just can't accept the fact that a player struggling on the field could be a good person off of it.

erock353
It gave me goose bumps when I saw this. I'm sure at the time everyone was a little emotional. Wished we could have beaten them, but we caught the Giants at the wrong time. They look strong.
herb mul-key
I think JT is a neat guy and all...a little weird to do this away from the team... He definitely has not lived up to the hype as a great defensive end...hopefully he finishes strong.
Burgundy&Gold4Ever
I saw this on the Fox pregame show, and I was really touched by it. It would be moving to watch any player do that, but especially someone who never was Sean's teammate. Very classy by JT!
