Receiver Stat Rankings (League Wide, Redskins 25th)

Ok, so it's Sunday and I had nothing better to do. So I quickly (meaning, there may be a few small errors, but the gist is there) went through each team and calculated how many receptions and yards their wide receivers are responsible for. Again, RBs, TEs or anyone else are NOT included in these statistics.

Keep in mind, I'm not sure if some of the games were updated with the early games or not. Like I said, I was curious, so I did some research.

Here's what I came up with:

1. Arizona Cardinals 248 receptions 3127 yards

2. New Orleans Saints 126 receptions 2178 yards

3. Philadelphia Eagles 160 receptions 2140 yards

4. Green Bay Packers 154 receptions 2132 yards

5. Denver Broncos 171 receptions 2085 yards

6. Houston Texans 152 receptions 2081 yards

7. New England Patriots 168 receptions 1990 yards

8. Indianapolis Colts 159 receptions 1958 yards

9. Atlanta Falcons 131 receptions 1897 yards

10. Carolina Panthers 120 receptions 1878 yards

11. San Francisco 49ers 127 receptions 1793 yards

12. Pittsburgh Steelers 123 receptions 1753 yards

13. Miami Dolphins 138 receptions 1709 yards

14. Dallas Cowboys 108 receptions 1665 yards

15. Buffalo Bills 120 receptions 1639 yards

16. St. Louis Rams 127 receptions 1606 yards

17. Cincinnati Bengals 163 receptions 1583 yards

18. Detroit Lions 111 receptions 1582 yards

19. Tampa Bay Buccaneers 139 receptions 1556 yards

20. New York Jets 135 receptions 1552 yards

21. Baltimore Ravens 104 receptions 1509 yards

22. San Diego Chargers 84 receptions 1437 yards

23. New York Giants 153 receptions 1434 yards

24. Jacksonville Jaguars 126 receptions 1421 yards

25. Washington Redskins 113 receptions 1410 yards

26. Minnesota Vikings 96 receptions 1312 yards

27. Kansas City Chiefs 98 receptions 1254 yards

28. Tennessee Titans 86 receptions 1209 yards

29. Chicago Bears 90 receptions 1206 yards

30. Seattle Seahawks 98 receptions 1133 yards

31. Cleveland Browns 73 receptions 1021 yards

32. Oakland Raiders 56 receptions 834 yards

While we're not Oakland pathetic, we are pretty low on this list. Hopefully our rookies start to step up soon. :)

I'm not measuring success off of this. Remember, these are ONLY receivers.

The Titans hve used the screen game and also have two runningbacks who are producing huge numbers.

The Giants use Kevin Boss quite often, as well as their backs in the receiving game. Again, these AREN'T passing stats. These are ONLY for RECEIVER production.

I don't think this proves what you think it proves. It's not a solid indicator of performance by the unit. It's a function of playcalling, the team's other assets, and the ability of the QB.

I think it proves exactly what I think it proves. Our receivers, regardless as to why, are the 25th best receiving corps in terms of production.

That includes playcalling.

I simply set out to see the production of all the teams in the leagues receivers. I'm not saying anything other than in terms of WR production, we're 25th. Not saying why. Just saying where.

Damn. ARZ's numbers are impressive.

Yup!

Take a look at this:

Anquan Boldin has 78 receptions for 942 yards and 11 TD

Larry Fitzgerald has 77 receptions for 1075 yards and 8 TD

Steve Breaston has 60 receptions for 773 and 2 TD

Santana Moss has 57 receptions for 828 and 5 TD.

He's our leading receiver except for receptions, which is Cooley with 66.

It's crazy that all 3 of them are on Moss' level. And yes, that's scheme, QB and Moss dropping alot of passes combining for that effect. But it's still something to sit back and scratch your head at.

you can't use this to measure success because the Titans are 28th and the Giants are 23rd. But we def need more production from our receivers. I don't know why Thomas wasn' on the field more today.

It BOGGLES the mind. To see what the guy could do with the ball in his hands, then to see nothing ever thrown his way. Trailing, desperately needing some vertical threat, some big play potential, someone to take the defensive halo pressure off Moss... and all we see is a million 2WR sets with Randel El, and another dozen+ where Thrash is the 3rd WR runing the only route beyond 6-7 yards?? Not only is the personnel usage utterly faulty by this staff, but the logic behind the scheme is completely befuddled.

Sending 2 guys out into a pattern on 2nd and 3rd and long, and then wondering why 5 DBs successfully deny the pass, is extraordinary.

Thomas can't learn the playbook? I bet he can figure out not to run his pattern 3 yards short of the sticks on 3rd down like Randel El did innumerable times.

I wonder where we stack up in Yards After Catch?

- I'd bet we're pretty low there too.

Our running game is productive and we control the ball well. That is the game we are playing this year. New coach, young QB, leaning on what is proven and works.

Arizona and NO have great passing games, but stink running the ball. NO isn't even Playoff bound so why would we want to be more like them.

It takes a few years for a rookie WR to develop and we all knew that going in. The position has already been addressed. Problem there is solved (I hope, to soon to tell).

Next, we fix the O line and see where that puts us. JC/JZ with an entire year and offseason together, along with a year under our rookies belts and maybe we have something.

Portis should be rocking for another few years, despite the pounding he takes (and gives).
