this game looked just like the giants game. when teams bring massive amounts of heat, our Oline just crumbles, and we cant get rid of the ball. we need to figure out what were gonna do against the giants again, or any other pressure defenses we face this season. and if we expect to play in the playoffs, this kinda stuff needs to be addressed.

and jansen needs to go. hes awful. hopefully heyer can come back because jansen gets blown up constantly.

just got back from the game and i have to say, this is the most embarrassing game i have ever witnessed. OUr Offense is pathetic as usual. I knew soon or a later we would get picked apart going up against a good defense just like we got owned against the giants. Our offense is at best moving the ball against bad teams like the lions browns...etc and get a field goal. this team couldnt score a TD even if their lives depended on it. Zorn's play calls are pathetic and predictable which is shocking cause during the 4 game winning streak, he was mixing it up. and people keep talking about campbells string of no INT. nice but he gets no TD! ball management or do we want him to throw TDs? exactly! and there goes inconsistent carlos roger. at best a decent that cant never have string of good games. he has like two good games, then gets burned like a rookie ..... today, this guy carlos rogers coudlve won the game for us. he got bunred like 6 times giving up big plays, then again, he had that sure INT but what does he do? that was a TD all the way. nobody was near him. Enough is enough. no more excuses.

above all, i just want to say that of all the yrs going to the redskins game, i have never seen so many opponent fans in the stadium in my life. when the redskins were on offense, it was so freaking loud cause all the steelers fans were yelling. it was like being at an away game. wow. and the reason why i know there were so many steelers fans other than hearing them yell is because i so freaking those terrible towels being waved everywhere. when it was 5 mins left, all the skins fans had gone and all i saw was steelers fans with that freaking towel being waved in the air. i swear, there had to be at least 30 thousand steelers fans in the stadium

dude, take your stats and put them on a message board where logic is used at least every once in awhile.

your great research will just go wasted here ...

Most offenses do do poorly against high-pressure defense.

This is the importance of being able to pressure the QB, talent in the trenches, etc. Games like this one happen, especially when your RT is busy getting knocked on his back by the opposing 3-4 linebacker.

Exactly.

This team can handle "high pressure teams".

Tonight was just not their night.

Yeah, I tend to agree. This loss just seemed like we got a little outcoached and out executed. Z didnt really get us going nor did he effectively adapt to the pressure being thrown at us. Got to execute a little better if youre going to keep it that vanilla

You have to hand it to the Steelers. They were blitzing from a lot of different looks while still playing a cover 2 shell. You would expect 1:1 matchups somewhere but there were none. You saw JC hesitating a lot because of it and generally ended in a sack or 3-4 yard pass. The most frustrating thing was the inability to figure out how to move against it.

yea people are blowin this loss out of proportion. This is a Steelers D that is completely DOMINANT.

And Portis still managed to reel of a run of 22 yards, which was the longest against the Steelers all season.

Our team can def. handle high pressure D's. IMO we just were tired and today was a result of that. Add that to the fact that we have mad injuries that will heal over the bye and you have a loss.

i was aware of these stats when i posted the original thread. first of all i think the steelers and giants have better overall Ds than all 3 of these teams. but for some reason we could not execute anything against either of these two teams, yet we could against these other teams.

you cant just say "it just wasnt our day". the rams game "just wasnt our day". we turned the ball over like idiots and played unfocused ball. but today and the giants game looked identical. campbell running for his life, nothing going in the pass game, shutdown run game. something about these two defenses destroyed us. someone explain it without just saying "this wasnt our day".

we dont have big physical go to WR's. that hurts us against teams with aggressive strong attacking styles. Our little WRs cant run block, are easily jammed in the 5 yard zone, by the time they are 6 yds down field, Jason is under pressure because these teams use stunts and dont worry about bull rushing in their lanes. A big WR that can muscle up to and use his body to shield defenders, missing, is really exposed in games like tonight. Our tiny WR's were invisible, just like against the Giants.

The Oline just looked tired tonight.

No reason to panic and assume they will play poorly against ALL pressure defenses especially considering this team owned Philly in their own building.

These guys need a rest and should look better after the bye week.

Here is something that is particularly troubling. when the Steelers lost to the Giants last week, they had no sacks on Manning, I am pretty sure.

If that is the case, it doesn't speak well at all for our offensive line and what does it say about our chances against the Giants??

I think the reason is simple. We won the games against Dallas, Philly, and Arizona because we were able to run the ball and temper their rush a little bit. The Giants and Steelers were different in that they can get pressure every play and still defend our run game. It was pretty obvious the whole game last night we weren't going to be able to establish our running game, so the Steelers were able to tee off on us. And when they did that, they just straight up, man for man, beat our offensive line. Wasn't even close.

9th game as a play caller for Zorn, hopefully he'll use last night as a learning experience and be able to have a counter punch next time.

The Redskins have trouble with pressure D's because JC is still prone to hold the ball a little too long, his delivery is not that quick, and he is not as accurate when pressured. I know this is true of many QB's, but some handle pressure better than others.

Many factors contributed to the loss. I think Zorn was clearly out coached, he tried to max protect against the pressure instead of dropping JC in shotgun with spread formation. I also think a two tight end set with Cooley and Davis instead of Yoder would have helped. The Steelers matched up Troy P against Cooley but they would have had problems with Davis. In the end Steelers played great, and we need to re-calibrate for a tough stretch run to get in the playoffs.
