The Redskins have trouble with pressure D's because JC is still prone to hold the ball a little too long, his delivery is not that quick, and he is not as accurate when pressured. I know this is true of many QB's, but some handle pressure better than others.

Many factors contributed to the loss. I think Zorn was clearly out coached, he tried to max protect against the pressure instead of dropping JC in shotgun with spread formation. I also think a two tight end set with Cooley and Davis instead of Yoder would have helped. The Steelers matched up Troy P against Cooley but they would have had problems with Davis. In the end Steelers played great, and we need to re-calibrate for a tough stretch run to get in the playoffs.

Yep regroup and move on.Steelers D ...wow

Our offense is not terrible. Last night, Zorn did not utilize all the receivers like he did against Dallas and Detroit. When we played Detroit we utilized a lot of people that barely ever get the ball such as Cooley. Lets not mention last week we ran the punt return with Santana Moss, which was unexpected. Last night we only utilized Moss and Portis and the Steelers D-line read all those plays. We should have got more people involved in the game. That way the Steelers D would not have known who and where to cover.

I believe that if we had switched QB's a brand new set of plays would have came into effect. In case you didn't know, the Redskins have a lot of plays that they done use and part of them may never get used unless we get more players involved in the game. The Redskins offensive coordinator has different set of plays depending on which QB is in effect. If Campbell is in, then we only use that book of plays. If Collins is in, there are a brand new set of plays that come into effect. Many of you may find this hard to believe but Collins has better plays written for him, due to the favoritism by Al Saunders and Joe Gibbs. Thats why we won those last 4 games last season.

I was mystified at the play calling...our O did not rise up to the level the Steelers were playing...

The play for me that stands out was in the first half when Polimalu just BLEW UP Sellars and Portis on the same play just submarined a 90 press lead and killed them both.

Also JC getting just rag dolled by Farrior...I thought he was concussed and out...JC showed some toughness...but damn we could not match up.

ouch PJ, i wasnt aware of those numbers. suishams leg is going to fall off by week 12 if we keep not scoring in the red zone.

Yes. If we kick one more goddamn FG, I'm personally taking a road trip to Fed Ex and stealing the goalposts so we will be forced to go for TD's every time. They'll be in a storage shed in Rock Hill if anyone wants them.

You mean our offense that was ranked #7 going into the game? We have a top 10 producing offense.

the Steelers D just dominates. Our offense is fine and MUCH improved over past years.

Top as in "YARDS". Offensive stats/rankings are by yards.

Giants- 1 TD 0 FGs

Saints- 3 TDs 3 FGs

Cardinals- 3 TDs 1 FG

Cowboys- 2 TDs 4 FGs

Eagles- 2 TDs 3 FGs

Rams- 2 TDs 1 FG

Browns- 2 TDs 0 FGs

Lions- 1 offensive TD 4 FGs

Steelers- 0 TDs 2 FGs

16 TDs and 18 FGs. When you are kicking more FGs then scoring TD's, it will catch up to you and you will lose. last 4 weeks, 5 TDs and 7 FGs- hence 2-2 record. Gotta get it in the endzone. Yards don't count for squat. You can be #1 offense in yards, but if you can't score, you're running in circles.

A healthy Moss opens things up for our other receivers. Our other receivers just weren't getting it done with Moss out for the majority of the game.

Heyer would have been a better fit against their pressure D, imo.

Also, I thought last night would have been the perfect opportunity to get F. Davis involved. 2 WR 2 TE sets with Cooley and Davis could have kept their D off balance.

Any reports on how M. Kelly is progressing? Will he be ready for Dallas or is it looking like we will IR him?

Pittsburgh's D is on a totally different level then those 3 teams. Expect us to really struggle against Balt too.

If Pittsburgh is the only high pressure defense, then it doesn't matter. Unless they make the Super Bowl, we have no chance of seeing them for another 4 years.

Baltimore is not a high pressure defense. They only sacked Big Ben 3 times to our 5, and they only have 2 more sacks than us on the season.

I'd give it to them if they had a big sack year last year, but they didn't. They were 19th and had fewer sacks than us.

If Philly is not a high pressure defense, then certainly Baltimore isn't.

i was aware of these stats when i posted the original thread. first of all i think the steelers and giants have better overall Ds than all 3 of these teams. but for some reason we could not execute anything against either of these two teams, yet we could against these other teams.

you cant just say "it just wasnt our day". the rams game "just wasnt our day". we turned the ball over like idiots and played unfocused ball. but today and the giants game looked identical. campbell running for his life, nothing going in the pass game, shutdown run game. something about these two defenses destroyed us. someone explain it without just saying "this wasnt our day".

The Giants game was Zorn's first game, so it's not the best game to judge our offense by.

The previous game against the Giants we had around 200 yards and 16 points in the first half before we went into Gibbs play not to lose mode in a 22-10 blowout.

The Giants had their Super Bowl trophy celebration for our game this season. They always have big games against us when something like that happens. Before it was Wellington Mara, and then the wounded Army officer that gave them a motivational speech. Those kind of games tend to be anomalies since we blew the Giants out in the 2nd game during those seasons.

This year's Giants game wasn't like the Steelers game. Campbell wasn't really running for his life like this game. He was sacked once, and that was because he ran right into Tuck. Portis had 84 yards. Not great, but hardly shut down.

I think it was just sloppy. A lot of bad passes and drops. Seemed like the problem was adjustments to a new offense and rust more than excessive pressure from the Giants. They are a high pressure defense, but there wasn't a lot of pressure in that game. Certainly not like the Steelers game.

We played great against those other high sack teams, so it doesn't seem like there is a pattern of constantly getting mauled by high pressure defenses.

Also keep in mind, that, while they did play, Moss, Portis and Samuels were all injured for the Steelers game.

this game looked just like the giants game. when teams bring massive amounts of heat, our Oline just crumbles, and we cant get rid of the ball. we need to figure out what were gonna do against the giants again, or any other pressure defenses we face this season. and if we expect to play in the playoffs, this kinda stuff needs to be addressed.

and jansen needs to go. hes awful. hopefully heyer can come back because jansen gets blown up constantly.

Saw Coach Zorn's presser ... and, he stated that Jason missed wide open WRs. He indicated he had the choice to pick side to go to, and a couple of instances went to Santana's side, while the ARE and James were free on seperate plays on the other.

Jason Campbell has made some plays and obviously has come a long way under Zorn, but he is still far from the quarterback he will be this time NEXT year. That's just a fact.

Is Campbell good enough to get the Redskins into the postseason in 2008?

My gut feeling is YES if Zorn is able to get the offense back to the sound fundamentals from earlier games where the Redskins were able to pick up the free blitzer and that allowed Campbell to find receivers and convert third downs.

Right now that is not happening.

One move the Redskins need to make is to re-insert Stephon Heyer into the lineup at RT.

He is the future at the position for the team and doesn't need the TE to help him in pass protection as Jansen does.

Jon has played well in the run game and put together 4 solid weeks of work in relief at age 32, but he is a limited player athletically. He has lost the first step to the outside that he really didn't have to begin with :)

I'm not sure if I'm understanding you correctly or not.

Are you saying that Todd Collins would've done better because he would've had a different set of plays?

Yeah, if Gibbs would have brought him in then Saunders could have called some of the better plays.:2cents:

This is ridiculous!! The Eagles pressure the QB, and the Skins played well against them. Give the Steelers credit. Dick Lebeau is the best DC in the league, no doubt. He runs the zone blitz scheme, out of the 3-4 defense. And he has been running it for years. There is a reason why the Steelers are always near the top in total defense. DICK LEBEAU!!

It has nothing to do with the Skins not playing well against pressure defenses.

It seems like every time the Skins lose, dumb threads start. This board is great when the Skins win, but when they lose..............OMG!!! Some of you fans need to STFU!!! Stop whining, stop crying, Stop pointing fingers. I will guarantee you if the Skins beat the Cowboys, all will be forgotten. And the kiss *ss threads will start. Just like always. ****ing MORONS!!!!!!
