Farbod21
Clinton Portis is just now being mentioned with LT as one of the best RB in the league. Check out some amazing stats: Average Yards Per Game: Clinton ranks 5th all time and 2nd Active only .2 yards less per game than LT. http://www.pro-football-reference.com/leaders/rush_yds_per_g_career.htm Average Yards per Carry: Clinton ranks 5th on the active list, 1st if you only count players with over 1000 carries. http://www.pro-football-reference.com/leaders/rush_yds_per_att_active.htm Rushing TDs: Ranks 4th on the active list http://www.pro-football-reference.com/leaders/rush_td_active.htm Pretty remarkable for a back that has only been to one F$ing Pro-Bowl! apickmans
Got screwed in 05, he should gone to Pro Powl that year. Could of made a case for him last year too I think.
redskns21
I think that a significant reason he didn't make the Pro Bowl in 2005 and 2007 is that his best running occurred in the later part of the season after the rosters had largely been decided. Didn't he though, turn down an opportunity to play in the Pro Bowl in 2005 as a first alternate after someone got hurt?

Pretty amazing comparison.
ArmchairRedskin
Portis is one of only three Running backs to ever run for 120+ yards in 4 consecutive games in 2 separate streaks. The other two are Jim Brown and OJ Simpson.
Pedro
But I thought Portis was only a top RB when it comes to protecting the QB. Every RB in the league near enough is better at actually running with the ball.

When he goes for 200 this weekend, you can knock out Brown and put him up with the memorabilia bandit as the only backs to rush for 120+ in 5 straight games twice in their career! sjinhan
Pretty remarkable for a back that has only been to one F$ing Pro-Bowl! now of course when and if there is any discussion about Portis going to the Hall of Fame... some people will use that one Pro-Bowl stat against him... I dont think Portis is gonna get mentioned for the Hall yet but who knows if he does lead the skins to the one SB or two... probably he will be in contention for the honors... SkinsKin26
If you look at career rushing yards, Portis is 31st, but if you compare his age and yardage to the other backs ahead of him, he could finish 1st among active running backs and in the top ten all time, if he stays healthy over the next few years. AllBusiness
Portis should come out of the tunnel Sunday wearing one of those 30's style leather helmets. Why? Because he's Clinton Portis and can. Why? Because he's BADD@$$!

TSO
You know what makes these stats even more impressive? For most of his career, he was running the ball in an offense that had the identity of "running the ball". He really never had the chance to run in an offense that opposing defenses really had to respect when it comes to the pass. Whenever our passing game became threatening (with Brunell in 05, Collins in 07, and now Campbell), he's absolutely torn it up. Gibbs tried to be balanced, and I think a lot of us really overblow the whole "Gibbs loves to run" mantra... but for most of his second tenure he was forced to lean on the run due to bad QB play, inexperienced QB play, and injuries. Tom10Y
Pro Bowl is a popularity contest. They don't reward players that show consistent numbers and longevity. They reward who ever is hot ***** that year.
iMeast
That fact that Clinton Portis has never been to a Pro Bowl while a Redskins and only going once in his career is a travesty. :lionsuck: HTTR
laurent
Portis should have made the Pro Bowl in 2005 and last year. Barber representing the NFC last year was a joke, he can't hold Clinton's jock.

scruffylookin
Whoa Whoa Whoa Wait a sec Let's calm down here. Remember, Clinton is a system back who's interchangeable with Ladell Betts. On a serious note, it's great that Clinton is now once again being recognized as a premiere back who's name should be mentioned with Tomlinson as being the best in the sport. I always thought he was if not the best, right there in the top 3 or 5 but the lack of talent around him held him back. Now he's got a viable QB throwing the ball and needs to be respected by defenses and the offensive line is finally living up to the hype they've received for the last 5 years by playing consistently and finishing games strong instead of just starting strong and then come up small in the 4th quarter like years past. Enjoy the ride folks, we're watching the best running back in the history of our beloved franchise in his prime and finally beginning to get some help from others around him.
