FletchRedskins
-------------- 46 Fincher, Alfred LB 6-1 238 3 Connecticut 08-15-1983 46 Betts, Ladell RB 5-11 224 6 Iowa 08-27-1979 http://www.redskins.com/team/default.jsp?sortBy=number -------------- What's up with this guy wearing Bett's #46? I checked the roster and both guys are listed. Anybody know why they would allow that? Just curious. HTTR by the way. The Zorn era has begun with quite a bang - even if it is preseason! bugski1210
In preseason as long as the players aren't on the field at the same time there can be 2 of the same number.
DButz65
Its only allowed in preseason because of the # of players on the "roster" Some #s are retired and unusable, etc etc During the regular season its not allowed.
Oldskool
But hey we want to retire every number, right? Now entering the game for the Washington, number 46a, Alfred Fincher!
KDawg
They ran out of numbers. Betts wasn't playing. Betts will have 46 when they season begins and Finc will have a different number once they cut some guys.
Zen-like Todd
Happens all the time. We also have two #75s on the roster.
Grimm
Both Schweigert and Broughton were wearing 36 tonight as well.
Dan T.
I noticed that with Fincher, and thought that has to be a bad sign for the guy. But then I watched him have a pretty decent game - he batted a ball down and had a couple of other good plays... So he made the most of his chances. pgray1111
This may have been covered already, but did anyone else notice a defensive player in last nights game wearing a #46 jersey? I didn't catch his name, but they showed him on screen a couple times, and he made a bunch of plays, he was maybe a DE or OLB. Didn't know what was up with that, mainly because it's betts #. Anyone have any info on this?
HailSkinz1
That was the new LB Fincher. There aren't enough numbers to go around, considering the numbers we won't allow, so he had to double up on a number that's all. He played well. After the first round of cuts, he'll probably be able to get his own number. Hail, H
Chanhillbilly
80 players in camp, several numbers are no longer handed out (28, 81, 44,7,9,70 etc), only WR's can wear the 1-19 in addition to the QB's and kickers, therefore some numbers are used 2x (one O and one D). It happens every year.
pgray1111
Thanks for the info. I've been playing catch up on skins news lately, and wasn't sure if I'd missed something about betts.
hoosandskinsMUSTwin
Fincher at the very least earned a longer look. We have some serious LB depth issues so I hope he can have a postive impact.
Dan T.
Fincher made the most of his opportunities. He batted down one pass, and made a couple other plays. He may be getting his own number soon...
tml6157
Fincher was very impressive considering he has been with the team for about 3-4 days.

Gracelander
If this was written about then please delete this, it just dawned on me something my brother in law and I saw at the game the other night. Bett's is #46, but sometime in the late 3rd quarter or early 4th quarter there was another Redskin wearing #46. I didn't catch his name or even what position he was. We were just surprised that someone else was in Bett's number, but we just assumed it was allowed because it was pre-season.. anybody else see him and know who he was? :point2sky
BringBackMcCants
Fincher-LB I think you can have two as long as they play on opposite ends of the ball
Rdskn4Lyf21
Alfred Fincher...don't worry, we'll be cutting Betts so he can keep the number Here ya go: http://extremeskins.com/forums/showthread.php?t=255113
DButz65
Preseason games multiple #'s are allowed because of the # of players on the roster but they cant be on the field at the same time , sometimes they run out of #s. Its not allowed during the regular season.

MichiganTerp
I watched Fincher a lot during the game because I noticed he was wearing 46. He was around the ball every time he was on the field. he looked really good out there.

ViceReVersa
I was at the Bills game on Saturday and noticed that 2 Redskins players were wearing the number 46. Ladell Betts and some middle linebacker I believe named Vintner. They must not have much faith in this guy making the roster if they cant even get him a unique number.
