Trading up for a D-lineman

We do need a D-lineman badly. Carter and Daniels were good, but they weren't at the super bowl level that the Giants were. If you don't have a pass rush, then you are going to have a world of trouble. Carter is good and he would be really good if he had another rusher to help him out. Daniels is good, but he is far too old to be effective all the time and he gets hurt quite a bit.

I know I am probably going to get fried here for saying this, but Santana Moss doesn't impress me much. He drops to many easy ones and I think he has problems with going over the middle. He will make a circus catch and then drop one that hits him in the chest. I think ARE is a better receiver right now. I would like to get a big possession type receiver. I don't care about the big play, give me another Art Monk any day of the week. I want someone who is going to make those third down catches and turn them into firsts.

WTF ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? DO YOU NOT REMEMBER "05?" THE GUY SAVED THE TEAM EVERY 3RD DOWN.

I couldnt believe it two years ago, I couldnt believe it one year ago, and I STILL CANNOT BELIEVE IT!!!!! We do NOT need a damn DT! Montgomery is a beast, Golston's coming along nicely, Cornelius will be back in 08....

If we draft anything in the form of a D-Linemen in round one, it better be Campbell or Long.

Actually, having a DT would help us alot. Griff is always hurt and at his age the wear and tear is slowing him down. I would go with the best possible DE/DT/ Guard/Tackle in the first couple rounds

With all this nonsense about trading our 1st rounder to cinncy for ocho cinco i was thinking wouldnt it make more sense to trade up to the top 5 ,a first and second rounder to potentiolly get a chris long at DE or Glen Dorsey at DT? i would much rather bring some youth to the line rather than bring in a explosice reciever when our recievers can work the west coast offense perferctly fine.

Opinions?

Our receivers are NOT fine, especially in the WCO. You need sure hands in the WCO. Chris Long is a good 3-4 DE, but how would he fare in a 4-3?

And it would take much more to trade up to top 5 then to get Ocho Cinco. Not to mention, it would not cost us our First Rounder.

I here Blache is a CB guy. If we trade up in the draft, we will try to get McKelvin of Troy or Flowers of VT.

I would rather trade down a few spots for a second third round pick and a forth rounder. Of course that may make to much sense seeing all the hell bent desire to go with free agents instead of building though the draft. If I were to wake up from this dream and it was in fact my job instead of Vinny, my draft as is without any trades would look like this.

Rd. 1= James Hardy WR Indiana

Rd. 2= Trevor Laws DT Norte Dame

Rd. 3= Chevis Jackson CB LSU

Rd. 5= Dennis Dickson QB Oregon

Rd. 6= Marcus Monk WR Arkansas

Rd. 7= Adam Spieker C Missouri

Yes I think that we could revamp the D-LINE more easily if we made some position switches. Like moving Griff to DE and getting Phillip Daniels OUT of there (finally). Then draft a DT thats available to us @ #21.

The rest of the draft would depend on if we are able to re-sign Springs. IF NOT, we draft CD in the 2nd and O-Line the rest of the draft.

IF WE DO resign Springs, then we should go WR in the 2nd and then the rest O-LINE

JLC reported that Blache's first priority was for a 3 technique DT. Neither Montgomery nor Golston are the 3 technique unless I'm mistaken. Griffin has been hurt every year. A penetrating DT will definitely improve the pass rush by collapsing the pocket. Wilson is the pass rushing DE specialist but not an every down DE. So we also need a DE.

I've heard from some posters that the draft is "DEEP" at DL. To me, "DEEP" implies that there is really high talent available in the second and third rounds. But, at least at NFLdraftcountdown the reviews seems to drop off considerably after the top 3 DEs and top 3 DTs. The top 3 at each position may be gone by the 21st pick. Long should be a top 6 pick. Calais Campbell may be available at 21. Skins will need to sift through the hype to make sure he doesn't have serious flaws (can't get proper leverage due to height, or takes too many plays off).
