MCnDaHouse
Coach has had a couple weeks to think things over. Is there any possibility that given the situation that has developed with the search and the supposed icy relationship between GW and Cerrato, could it be possible that Coach Gibbs could come back? You know we didn't think he'd come back the last time. He apparently just called the assistants and apologized publicly for what has happened. Could guilt and/or a change of heart bring him back? Currahee
It is over. He bailed because he saw the writing on the wall, and didn't have the energy or desire to put more work into this team and see the same or simular results at the end of next season. It is time for a new face and new direction for this organization. Time to move on.
moviedude25
Gibbs saw the mess that happened after he left the first time and didn't immediately come back to rescue the team. I have no doubt that he wont come back here now. His coaching days are over.
LuvtheSkins428
Looking at the situation as it stands, this is not an entirely bad idea. At least it would quell the circus going on right now. And it would give them a solid year to pursue someone else, with Gibbs' help hopefully. I mean, if the only other option is Fassel, I'd take Gibbs in a second. GW would be great, but at this point does he even want the job?

We have had so many new faces and going in so many new directions since Danny brought this team, it's only going in circles. Yeah, let's try this again...

MonkeySkin
I wouldn't be surprised if working for a demon like Snyder is one of the reasons he left, so I doubt it.
Thirtyfive2seven
He isn't coming back. Trust me, I felt the same way in 92. I was shocked and what followed was just misery. When he came back I was overjoyed but I KNEW he wouldn't only be here a few seasons so this time it wasn't as bad.

laxracer
I'll ask this... Why didn't Gibbs just quit being coach and stay as Pres ???
WSHRedskins3ATLBraves3
He was fired. Obviously. I don't see what's obvious about it. Why fire him? He's done more than any of the candidates that Snyder has looked at has ever done.
ECU-ALUM
To paraphrase Rick Pitino, "Joe Jackson Gibbs is not going to walk through that door." Gibbs has walked away to be with his family...I don't fault him for that.
corsair_joe
I think the well is now so poisoned that even Gibbs coming back for one more year couldn't save it. None of the assistants want to stay, bringing Gibbs back wouldn't change that.

sentimental47
What's done is done. Whether it's Fassel [shudder] or whoever walks through that door it's going to be more ''transition'' just like every season since Danny bought the team and it won't get any better any time soon. eaudio5
He's long gone. Rightfully so. He just looked incredibly miserable and pained most of the time. Even when we won, he could only eek out a very small smile.

I thought about that as well. Anything is possible at this point...but if the staff only thinks it has one year left, it may not bode well for next season even if he did come back.
