ACW
pretty good weekend of fights:Friday Night: Andre Ward vs. Jerson Ravelo (ShoBox) Saturday Night: Andre Berto vs. Miki Rodriguez (HBO Boxing After Dark) Edison Miranda vs. Arthur Abraham II (Showtime) Miranda/Abraham II will be a great fight Also local boxer Horace Ray Grant may be on Friday Night Fights tonight. I've seen him twice at live events; dude's a POWERHOUSE.
ACW
Grant landed a KO punch JUST after the bell of the last round One of the guys (Tessitore or Atlas) doesn't know anything about b-ball though: he said it was like a last-minute shot that goes off just before the buzzer but goes in just after...um, that shot would then count :dunce:
StillUnknown
that was one of the craziest finishes i've seen to a fight. Grant clocked him just as the final bell rang and the dude just barely made it back to his feet
ACW
From boxingalongthebeltway.blogspot.com: 15Rounds.com is reporting that undefeated DC junior welterweight Lamont Peterson has an opponent for his important nationally televised Saturday, July 5 bout at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, NV.Peterson's opponent will be Rogelio Castaneda, Jr. of Sacramento, California. Castaneda (24-13-3, eight KO's) has come very close to world title contention, losing an IBF title elimination bout to Demetrius Hopkins in November 2006. It has been reported that should Peterson (24-0, 11 KO's) win, he will get a world title bout against the winner of the main event of this card -- the WBO Junior Welterweight championship rematch between champion Ricardo Torres and Kendall Holt. The card will be televised by Showtime. Come on Lamont!

StillUnknown
Abraham looked great against Miranda, hell he finished him earlier and in a more brutal fashion than Pavlik did. i want to see Pavlik fight Abraham to unify the middleweight division. that would be a great fight Andre Berto continues to look dominant. his handspeed is his best asset, unbelievable quickness in those hands. even though he's a smaller welterweight at 5'8, he still utilizes his jab to great effectiveness. i look forward to seeing him in the ring with a recognized top 10 fighter his next time out. eagleskins
Berto is good, but he can't compete with bigger welters like Mosley, Margo, or Cotto. He should actually think about dropping down a weight class.

Pavlik is the best boxer alive. Yes, Abraham looked good, but Pavlik did this to Miranda when he was 24. Pav will go down as one of the best boxers ever. StillUnknown
Pavlik needs to fight some more credible people before getting the "best boxer alive" tag. the only names on his resume are Jermain Taylor & Miranda. there are a few guys ahead of him for "best boxer alive"

Chachie
Pavlik is the best boxer alive. You might be better suited saying, "the best boxer active." Until Floyd Mayweather retired, Pavlik was a clear number 2. (I'm a Mayweather hater but the man is the best. Hands down.)

(I'm a Mayweather hater but the man is the best. Hands down.) Pavlik wasn't a clear #2 Ring Magazine (the most respected ranking system around these days) has had Manny Pacquiao as #2 on their pound 4 pound list for awhile now based on the quality of his opposition. Pavlik is an absolute beast, but i have a hard time putting him top 5 pound 4 pound when really the only good name he has on his record is Jermain Taylor

(I'm a Mayweather hater but the man is the best. Hands down.) I disagree. Floyd is soft as hell. The DLH fight was as close to a wash as possible. Margorita and Cotto would destroy Floyd. If Floyd had the sack to move up in weight, Pavlik would kill him in the ring. Mayweather is like Tyson. A very overated fighter that never had a marquee win. Tyson fought in the weakest era of heavyweights ever, and got destroyed by the only real fighters he ever faced(Holyfield and Lewis).

He was 39-0. 25 of those wins (nearly 2/3) were by KO. 'Nuff said. EDIT: No marquee win? Corrales, Zab, Hatton, no bums they.
Gator Bait
I like Pavlik a lot....but I can't believe a previous post said he was the best fighter alive.... I can think of many who are better right now.... Pacman cotto pbf (even though he has retired) I'd like to see Paul Williams fight Berto....and the winner of that fight the winner of Cotto Margarito. but I have a feeling Oscar will fight the winner of Margarito/Cotto in December. Forehead
I have to say, I wish there was this kind of talent in the heavyweight ranks. The heavyweight division is supposed to be "the" big show in boxing, and it's so weak right now. I love seeing all these great middleweight and welterweight fights, but a strong heavyweight division is what draws casual fan interest, and hopefully that would help regrow the sport. I don't know of any real eye-popping prospects coming out though, and I can only take so much of the Klitschko brothers or the Frankenstein resembling Nicolay Valuev.
