The Hall of Fame’s Board of Selectors chose the 26 semi-finalists from the recently announced list of 124 preliminary nominees. The list includes one more than the required 25 since there was a tie for the twenty-fifth position. Hall of Fame selection by-laws provide for the inclusion of all ties for the twenty-fifth position on the ballot. [...] To be considered for election to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, a nominated player or coach must have been retired at least five years. A contributor, who is a nominee who has made outstanding contributions to pro football in capacities other than playing and coaching, may still be active in his pro football career. dfbovey
I don't consider Andre Reed a Redskin. He's a Buffalo Bill. Congrats to the 4 actual Redskins who made the list though. And to Reed.
stinkpalmd
Gosh, could you imagine trying to pick 2 or 3 of those 5 that you'd want to make it through? Impossible...
hail2thegibb
No it would be easy... Green and Monk... Done....
DjTj
The next cut is to 15 a month from now ... I think Monk, Grimm, and Green will make it. Reed might make it too ... Jacoby will be right on the line. The day before the Super Bowl, they'll cut it to 10, which will probably leave only Monk and Green, and then they will induct 7, which will definitely include Green and will hopefully include Monk as well. The competition isn't that tough this year, with only Darrell Green and Cris Carter as legitimate first-ballot Hall of Famers. Darrell Green, Cris Carter, Fred Dean, Bob Kuechenberg, Art Monk, Marshall Goldberg, and Emmitt Thomas ... that's my 2008 HOF class.

dfbovey
All 4 of them deserve it, Green is a shoe in and I hope Monk finally makes it in. Grimm should also make it in eventually. Jacoby is probably one of those guys that's borderline but as a Redskin fan I think he belongs. It's retarded that the only player from those great teams in the 80's and early 90's that have made it in, is John Riggins. 4 Superbowls... winning 3 of them over that time, and only one hall of fame player from that decade to show for it. jimster
Green and Monk should both make it this year, but could see the political crap of the sports writers making them decide to put one of them on the back burner because they don't want two players from the same team to make it the same year. But hopefully that won't happen. Grimm I'm sure will get in someday, but probably not this year.
cjrugger
Might be making my first trip to Canton this summer. What are the chances we could play the HOF game and get Monk and Green in. What a weekend that would be

Passizle
I know it would never happen, but how SWEET would it be if we had a Washington Redskins sweep of the HOF ceremony next summer!

Darrell Green, what can you say? Russ Grimm and Joe Jacoby, about the two best O-linemen to ever play the game (and statistics should back that up). Last but not least, Art Monk, who keeps getting robbed every year and should have been inducted in his first year of eligibility. All four of those players have played in 3-4 Super Bowls with the Redskins and have played in numerous Pro Bowls. If these four do not make it together this year then I'll loose what little respect I have left for that institution as it has turned into nothing but a popularity contest. :logo:

arrowhead
Just say no to Cris Carter. He should NOT be a first ballot HOF'er, but he's kissed so much arse anything is possible.
Bang
GOOD to see Joe Jacoby on the list. It's about damn time he gets recognized. he was our best all around lineman, and he set the prototype for the BIG HUGE lineman who can move. He set the standard. ~Bang
ZRagone
It will be the biggest HOF travesty known to man if Cris Carter makes it in first ballot but Art Monk still doesn't get put in
