"Top Teams" Taking "Bad" Players???

With New England taking "bad boy" Moss and Dallas taking T.O. and now

Tank Johnson does that make anybody want to reconsider the

long held position that the skins have taken ref "quality" players?

I am not sure how I would proceed myself.

NE at least has the benefit of an unquestionable coach and vetern leadership and a history of dropping players the moment they cause problems (w/o it causing massive cap problems that interfere w/ them winning). We don't.

The Dallas situation will go well as long as they are winning. I'd be surprised if there aren't issues there if they hit some real adversity- even losing two games in a row, especially if they lose because Romo sits to pee has problems getting TO the ball (even if it is because TO is well covered).

Some time's it pay's off people learn from there mistake's...with that said next year i think that the skin's should really take a look at D.Hall next year we dont even know if springs is going to come back nor if he will make it a whole season again if he make's this one..(god i sure hope so)

We have taken our share of redemption cases. Smoot became pretty infamous because of the Love Boat scandel. Lloyd last year who already had a iffy reputation. It can go either way when giving a guy a second chance.

Na I mean the high profile guys ... like T.O. and Tank Johns

I don't think that Fred Smoot is quite in the category.:D

Well said. - I think Smoot got the benefit of the doubt because Gibbs already knew what kind of person he is.

TO never got in trouble off the field, but is a risk because of the the way he treats other people, potentialy affecting your team chemistry.

is DeAngelo Hall a FA after this year?

that would be a nice addition.

There are never any problems when teams are winning. It is the cure all, the bad rep comes from losing and being bored with the team. Moss had a bad rep, went to a bad team in Oakland, got a worse rep, then went to a winner in NE and is now not a problem. People ingore problems for the sake of winning.

It's all about risk/reward. Moss for a fourth rounder was a no-brainer because it is the perfect situation for him.

TO to Dallas, a pass-happy team, another no-brainer.

Tank to anybody...we'll see but I don't think you can change those stripes.

i've brought this up before. i wanted TO when he was available and seeing him go to Dallas made me sick. I got clowned whenever i brought it up.

now we got randy moss in NE. we could've gotten him too, but we refuse to go after him because he's supposedly "not a gibbs guy."

now we have tank in big d.

remember all of these are positions where we have a glaring need. (big wr, dline help). it's times like this, we need to acknowledge that a GM is needed. a GM will look at what the team needs, evaluate risk vs reward and make that kind of gamble.

TO left his last two teams in shambles. When you hear things like him saying he told his coaches not to talk to him unless he speaks to them first, you stay away from that drama.

Now Randy Moss, I personally woulda loved to see us take a gamble on.

The Moss situation wasn't up to us even if we wanted him. Moss had to restructure his contract to make the trade work, which is why GB couldn't get ahold of him. He chose NE, and thats' where he went.

"Bad" players can work on good teams. NE has veteran leadership. Look at a team like Cincinati. They rolled the dice on Ahmad Brooks, Odell Thurman, Chris Henry, and a few others and it bit them in the ass. It's hard to win games when you have multiple players suspended. If we're having the issues we are now with a guy like Lloyd, imagine what some of these other guys could do to us. I personally don't think we have the leadership to handle any "bad" players.

I cannot tell a lie. My overwhelming desire to see the Redskins win and win dominantly has had me consider all of the following:

Ricky Williams- Let him bludgeon the defense and then bring in Portis to finish them off. If he hits Mari again, we really haven't lost anything. We still have a well rested and capable Portis.

Adam "Pac Man" Jones- Better than Carlos, Smoot, Macklin, Torrence, Eubanks and Westbrook

De'Angelo Hal - Ditto

I have even imagined MVick when he gets out of jail as a third down specialist. He can pass, run, catch, kickoff returns, punt returns etc. He could be a new Slash. He will never be a quarterback again except in an emergency situation.

Gibbs does not equal Belicheck as far as ethics and morals are concerned. I am sure that Gibbs is doing the right thing with his character requirement. But I want to see them be dominant again, so badly.

Desperation will make a fan try anything.

Exactly! Something to think about. Here's one: "You play to win the Game!" or how bout "Just win baby." or as Bill Belichick would say, by any means necessary!

You don't dismiss a talented player cause he MIGHT be a problem.. measure the talent against the potential.
