According to Dallass' website, the new stadium will seat around 80,000, but can be expanded for big events such as the Superbowl, to 100,000 seats. It will be only a matter of time when Jerry Jones decides to use 100k seats for every game.

But will it have a Johnny Rockets?

Well I know the stadium can sell an additional 30,000 standing room only tickets for the area of cowboys stadium that is open in the end zone. They are $24 per game and sold on game day. This is designed to bring in more money for the facility but its probably not a great idea for cowboys fans. Opposing teams fans can purchase thee tickets and take over that entire section in the endzone... lol I just might be flying to Dallas in the fall for the Redskins matchup!

I added the figures for 2000. I'll add 2001 thru 2005 in the coming days. The capacity in 2000 was lower than today though.

Current capacity = 91704

Original capacity = 80116

Does anyone know the capacities vs year for 2000 thru present?

If so, please post here and I will add to post #1.

Thanks.

RFK was tiny but the home-field advantage was much greater than it is at FedEx. Being big is nice, selling out is of course important, but all I really want is a stadium that's loud as hell, impossible for other teams to play in, and gives opposing QBs headaches when they try and audible. Something like Qwest Field up in Seattle, which is deafening. When the Skins' new house gets built in D.C. someday, I pray to heaven that Snyder brings in some acoustics specialists and builds a loud, loud stadium.

It's based on tickets sold not fannies in seats.

Blackout rules only applies to general admission seats. Premium seats do not count. So a "sellout" to make sure the game is shown on local TV requires all the general admission seats to be sold. Technically, I think they also exclude seats set aside for the visiting team and media...but you're probably counting only a few hundred seats.

In reality the redskins do not sell out. The lower level bowl tickets that are not sold are just converted to available tailgate club tickets. Since tailgate club is probably not considered general admission they can get away with this. I also wonder about the upper level endzone tickets....are they really sold out? I bet they just re-classify them as media and visiting team tickets.

I fully agree with your notion.;) Otherwise we wouldn't get email offers begging us to buy extra GA tix for all regular season games except Dallas.

I'm not sure how he classifies them apart from GAs, or if it even matters to anyone as long as the visiting team gets their cut of the would be ticket revenue. This why I say we'll never have local tv blackouts b/c the actual number of red seats sold doesn't matter to Danny (particularly in the upper deck).

I don't believe that the upper deck sells out, nor has it for years. There are entire rows of empty seats visable in the corners at some games. Even for the last two Philly games. I can't imagine that all 24 ticket holders per row happen to be out of their seats at the same time. I'm talking in the middle of the second quarter of a game when we have the ball and more people are in their seats than at any other time.

It's not like this at other NFL stadiums where the home teams boasts of sellout streaks and season ticket waiting lists.
