cjcdaman
No problem, because I agree with you 100% percent about both those styles of music. Only because I believe there is limited musical talent in both. And yes, I am very musically involved. I'm majoring in guitar... My cousin is totally into this kinda stuff. I'll ask him what he enjoys better, Writing the songs for himself or entertaining a crowd with his music. And he always says that writing the song is great, but to have a crowd give you an ovation for a greatly played and/or written song is the "ultimate." Granted, I'm not talking 60,000 fans, he only plays in local bars. Good luck to you in your major.

The Sir
I'd love to list mine, but it'd take too long to think about it. I'll respond to this eventually, that's a real tough question to answer. So many songs that are equally good in my mind, it'd be hard to pick 15. There's only a few songs that I'd definitely put on it.
jrockster21
I didn't mean to be ignorant in any way. You obviously are more musically involved than me. I like stuff that gets me pumped up. I hate the "MY Wife Just Died" Country stuff and I hate the "I Love You so Much" R & B stuff. Totally not meant as an insult to you. Just out of curiousity...which songs on my list fall into either of those categories? Ok jrock, but the I'm not abiding by the one song rule That's not a rule...just one I chose to follow! Manish Boy -- great choice! You didn't include enough genre's, in my opinion. American music is great and all, but you didn't include one song from the Specials, which is arguably one of the most innovative bands of all time. Don't listen to British music? Well, then you have no right to finalize ANY CD of all time. Zeppelin and The Clash are both British bands... Besides, the list isn't finished yet! ( -- just realized you were probably talking to our resident music expert cjc...)

Chopper Dave
My kind of thread... This is tough, considering I've got over 10000 songs to choose from in my collection. Coming up with 22 songs is hard but not impossible, although 22 songs that will fit on 1 CD probably won't happen. BTW, I'm not only putting my favorite songs on there, I'm designing the CD to flow perfectly. Here goes: 1) Sublime - What I Got 2) The Mighty Mighty Bosstones - The Impression That I Get 3) The Beatles - I'll Follow the Sun 4) Jimi Hendrix - All Along the Watchtower 5) Outkast - Hey Ya! 6) Radiohead - Paranoid Android 7) Green Day - Scattered 8) Johnny Cash - Hurt 9) The Beatles - Strawberry Fields Forever 10) Don McLean - American Pie 11) Bob Dylan - Like a Rolling Stone 12) David Bowie - Space Oddity 13) The Flaming Lips - Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots, Pt. 1 14) The Beatles - A Day in the Life 15) Manfred Mann - Blinded by the Light 16) Smashing Pumpkins - Tonight, Tonight 17) David Bowie - Rock and Roll Suicide 18) The Beatles - Her Majesty Damn. I'm making this disc right now. What a good idea.
jrockster21
4) Jurassic 5 - Quality Control Awesome song!! Didn't know you were into hip-hop... 6) Outkast - Hey Ya!7) Radiohead - Paranoid Android I need some Outkast and Radiohead on my list...but I would choose different songs. Maybe So Fresh, So Clean from Outkast and The Bends from Radiohead...
Chopper Dave
Awesome song!! Didn't know you were into hip-hop...I need some Outkast and Radiohead on my list...but I would choose different songs. Maybe So Fresh, So Clean from Outkast and The Bends from Radiohead... J5 are sick. I like alot hip-hop, actually. I dunno, if I were to put a different Outkast song on there, I'd put Gasoline Dreams or BOB. As far as the Radiohead goes, there are alot of songs I could put instead of Paranoid Android, but that's the most quintessential. Karma Police, Electioneering, Idioteque, The National Anthem, Creep, etc., they're all great songs, but PA is the one they should be remembered by. Chopper Dave
Jane's Addiction are right before my time. I have trouble getting into them for the same reasons I can't get into The Cure or REM (who really like, but according to my musical tastes, I should love). They're at that point where they were so close to my generations music but just outside of it, so I don't really have any exposure. SP, on the other hand, are right up my alley. MCatIS was like the 3rd album I ever bought, after Dookie and Tragic Kingdom, in like 2nd or 3rd grade.
