#1SkinsFan
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2005/football/nfl/12/14/bc.fbn.jets.abraham.ap/index.html Guys I saw this and really think we should trade for him. We need a D-lineman, and he would be perfect for the system. We should think about dealing Ramsey to the Jets, for him. What do ya'll think? jimster
probably more like Ramsey and a draft pick.
bird_1972
probably more like Ramsey and a draft pick. Not willing to do that. He's injury prone, not a locker room guy, and has been inconsistant this year. I would only trade Ramsey for him and no more. Otherwise, look elsewhere. Burgold
Yeah, but which pick of theirs should we ask for. I realize he is a good player, but I really dislike the idea of aquiring a player who quit on his team in the playoffs, because he was worried that if he got hurt it would affect his big contract payday. Also, isn't he getting long in the tooth... We've been talking about him for three-four years now.

Dead Money
We need a D-lineman, and he would be perfect for the system. I find it so funny that you know what "the system needs". I've heard GW explain time and time again why he likes big, run stopping ends, but you people keep saying that this is what we "need". Not that Im happy about it. Lombardi's_kid_brother
I don't know if we have enough to trade for him. Maybe the Jets would give him up for Ramsey and our 2nd rounder. But they probably want more. And can we even afford him under the cap?

I'm saying that they wouldn't trade for Ramsey straight up. - Realistically, we're probably going to be getting around a 3rd round pick for Ramsey. - I'd rather get Vandenbosch in FA. TimmySmith
The Jets are screwed right now because of Pennington's contract, so they will almost certainly have to draft a position other than QB because that would give them 2 huge QB contracts. Most likely they will trade their high 1st rounder for more picks. Ramsey will be a cheaper alternative, but it wouldn't make sense to do this until draft day. The Jets will be draft day movers for sure.
Redskins4ever
I do agree that we need a Julius Peppers/Jevon Kearse kind of defensive end. Could you imagine having Cornelius Griffin and John Abraham on the same defensive line with blitz packages? Man, no one would be able to move the ball. I say Ramsey and a 2nd rounder in exchange for this man. It's worth a shot.
SRBFan
I'm tellin ya...a cheaper, more productive end in terms of run AND pass defense is Kyle Vanden Bosch. Hell, we might even be able to sign him AND Aaron Kampman. Both of these guys are lunch pail players who, unlike Abraham, have some character. Right now I would take Kampman straight up over Abraham -- and like u said -- he is gonna ADD to the locker room -- not detract from it. :dallasuck
DieselPwr44
Why would the Jets trade for Ramsey now when they have a good shot at drafting Leinhart of USC?? Makes no sense. Besides, who wants a DE that takes himself out of Play-off games out of fear for his future contract?? Not exactly a Gibbs-type player to begin with. Pass on Abraham. :2cents:

Building through the draft is ideal, but those two guys you mentioned are Great players who would really fit in.
mcarey032
There is no way we get a 3rd round pick out of ramsey. I would say that we are more likely to get a fifth. Edgerrin James couldn't get a second round pick.
SRBFan
Agreed. I think Ramsey might get us a decent starter in return (I'd trade him in a HEARTBEAT for Eric Moulds!), but his value in relation to a draft pick is minimal...
Whiskeypeet
Please...no more Jets on the team.....we need to find another team to find players.... Actually we need to trade with the Jets to restart the cycle. You see, the cycle begins with a Jets trade/acquisition in which the Redskins absolutely fleece the Jets. Subsequent to that fleecing the Redskins then initiate a trade with the Broncos in which the Redskins get screwed. And on and on it goes.
illone
Abraham sat out to protect himself. Players do that all the time. Does nobody remember the fact that Ramsey held out of training camp? Sure, from a business standpoint he screwed his team, but that wouldn't have happened if he WAS NOT in a contract year. He wants a long term deal which is what 99% of NFL players want. This is nothing new. You sign this guy to a long term deal with incentives and a nice bonus and you never look back. From a football sense this guy is the answer. His sacks are down a bit from last year but I've watched him play this year. He makes a living in the backfield disrupting plays and pressuring QBs. Just the type of player this team has lacked for many years now. Forget the system, Williams has said countless times he likes good Football Players and he builds his system around their strengths. And enough with this "Joe Gibbs type of player" crap. It's becoming way too cliche around here. I bet anyone $500 that three years ago when Portis was running around the sidelines in Denver wearing a big gold boxing belt nobody would have guessed him to be a Gibbs type of player. I'll let Gibbs and Williams be the judge of that stuff. Now, time to make a deal for Abraham. :deal:

That way we can use our 2nd rounder on a big possession WR. And use the rest of the picks for backups along both lines.

The Jets needed their "franchise player"( the Jets words, not mine.) in the playoffs but where was he?? Counting his greenbacks and the future probability of more. Now contrast that to the players Gibbs has brought here since his return(blue collar and team orientented). BIG difference. No way Abraham is coming here. Nor should we want him.
