Romans 5:1 tells us that we are Justified by Faith & made right with God through Christ.

Justified = Just as in I had never done it

I wish i could find the other verse i was looking for , it says that His Grace is suffecent , meaning it is enough:eaglesuck

I just afriad that salvation alone is not good enought-- there are commandements to keep and its difficult to read and keep virtually every commandement in the books. I fail nearly everyday, plus dont pray enought or read the bible enought, I would like to find another chruch family but mom would go ballistic, I am natrually not a loving Titus 2 woman and ect.

There is salvation, and there are rewards/punishments. Be careful not to confuse the two.

Biblically, the thing that determines your final destination (heaven or hell) is the status of your sins. If you have any, it's off to the big oven with you. If you have no sin, you get the golden streets. And the only way to be without sin is to have your sins taken away from you. And the only one who can do that is Jesus Christ. Everything else is irrelevant to this question.

However, once your destination is established, then there's the matter of rewards in heaven and punishments in hell. The Bible is clear that hell will be hotter for some than for others. And in heaven there will be people with an abundance of rewards, based on the life they lived here -- and there will be people in heaven dressed in their underware and smelling like smoke, so to speak, also based on the life they lived here.

So you fail. Welcome to the human race.

I'm not afraid of death. I'm afraid of the pain involved in dying.

As a Christian, I know my soul/sprit will continue even after the body decays. My sins have been taken care of, and the eternity ahead of me looks good.

If you haven't yet addressed that part of the equation, I'd recommend looking into it.

God bless you for that, Talon!

Death? No. I know my final destination through the grace of Christ. Dying? A little maybe. Actually, only the thought of dying one way gives me pause. That is at the hands of another when there is nothing I can do about it. An execution type death. That would be so frustrating. Knowing I'm gonna die, not being able to do anything about it, and knowing the person whacking me won that round.

Like most everyone else that posted, I'm not afraid, I just don't want to. I'm hoping to live long enough to irritate my children into their adulthood and beyond.

I've told my wife that when I go, I want enough money put aside so that there can be a big party and people will celebrate my life and the friend that I was to them and not mourn my death.

You are one odd fella! ;)

OK, I haven't looked at all the replys yet but I have a few thoughts.

First off, I'm not scared of dying. That doesn't mean I don't want to live a long and full life, but I have always done dangerous things through out my life, without fear of death. When it's your time, it's your time, and there's nothing you can do about it.

Secondly, you may not feel anything once your dead, but you sure as hell can while you go. I've seen this first hand.

The best way to go IMO is to freeze to death. You get numb, and fall asleep. Of course, living in Florida, I'm SOL on that front. ;)

I'm afraid of dying suddenly, because I wouldn't have a chance to destroy my hidden stash of porn. Someone would stumble upon it eventually.

That is hilarious (and Master Shake, GREAT username by the way).

It is very interesting to take a step back and look at how we collectively view death as a culture.

We traditionally believe it has a beginning and an end, whereas the Native Americans (and other cultures) believe(d) we were a part of a continuous life cycle. However, we don't even know everything there is to know about the life/universe we live in now, how can we make assumptions about what happens after we die?

And why do we as a culture think of death with such negative connotations? That is the sad part to me. Why is death not viewed as another step along the way? Maybe death is much more satisfying than our physical lives ever will be, we wouldn't know. . . no one has ever died and come back (well, almost no one ;))

For me personally, I do not fear death. I think death is beautiful (and I have my personal reasons).

I'm certainly not afraid to die; despite all of my sins and willful defiance of God, I know that Christ's grace is sufficient.

However, I would also agree with many previous posters insofar as I do have other fears: 1) the care of my family after I'm gone; 2) the deaths of family members before my death; 3) a horrible cause of death; and 4) an accident/injury/or sickness which would leave me to live in a crippled state.

I had this all fairly well fleshed out for me while in the Army as a tanker, and more specifically in Iraq. I've certainly seen some ways I don't want to go. Immolation would be at the top of the list. In fact, it played a part in a career change for me.

A few years back, right after I'd left my job as an XO for a tank company, my former company had a pretty terrible accident during tank gunnery. Moreorless, a loader pulled a main gun round out of the breach (barrel of the gun) -- and as he was pushing it into the ammo well -- for some reason it blew up. Miraculously, and unfortunately, he lived for quite a while. The gunner and commander somehow got out of the tank -- but the driver couldn't, and ended up asphyxiating. Pretty horrible stuff. Tank fires have a way of making you not want to tank anymore. Certainly brings the reality of death home.
