  1. I perpetually worry about Del Rio as our D coordinator. He is not clever and doesn't even try. Worse, he barely blitzes. I hope things are better in the regular season.
  2. Couple caveats to Cooley's take- 1. It only evaluated Howell's senior year, without looking at any of his games with competent o-line play; 2. It was done before the Dallas game and Howell had a chance to clean up his footwork and operate in a multi-read offense.
  3. Why are we using two year old (at least) film of Forbes on Smith? I'd imagine our guy has grown quite a bit since his sophomore year, when he was covering a senior wideout on a stacked team.
  4. Every time I doubt a pick, it becomes a Dotson, Curl, or Robinson... so this was probably a home run.
  5. Knowing there isn't much of an impact financially by not taking the option, this makes a lot more sense to me. In fact, I support it. Granted, I truly believe Chase is going to destroy the league this year, so we're going to be in fiscal hell regardless of what we decide.
  6. Unpopular opinion, but I would trade up using a third for one of the top OTs, Jones or Johnson.
  7. “You don’t draft the guy because he did well on … his S2, but if it confirms what you saw on tape — if something in that test confirms what you saw on tape and confirms the reasons why you liked it — then that becomes a factor,” Commanders general manager Martin Mayhew said at the combine. “If it contradicts what you saw, maybe you go back and look again to see if you can see what the test is trying to tell you.” https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2023/03/21/nfl-s2-cognition-quarterbacks/ “Sam will have every opportunity to win that starting job,” Mayhew said of his young quarterback. “I was very impressed with the way that he played and practiced last year. Obviously very small sample, he only played in one game, but we got to see him the whole offseason. We gotta see him all through training camp, every week in practice. He has the skills that it takes to be a starter in this league, in my opinion.” https://commanderswire.usatoday.com/2023/03/02/commanders-gm-martin-mayhew-impressed-with-sam-howell/ 🤔
  8. I had a damn good feeling about Willard and, man, does it feel good to be right!
  9. Looks like Pat Shurmur is under consideration. Personally, I ****ing love the idea. While he's been a horrible head coach, he's been a very impressive offensive coordinator. The guy has had success with way less everywhere he's been - he made Case Keenum look like a star. Granted, he had a way tougher time with Melvin Gordon, Drew Lock, and no receivers in Denver, but who wouldn't?
  10. I was researching this the other day- who is running Coryell these days? Last I saw, it was Jason Garrett and no one else.
  11. Keep Howell and keep Heineke. The team clearly responds to Heini in a way they didn't for Wentz. His endorsement of Howell probably resulted in a lot more buy in from this team as a result.
  12. Lost in the Chase conversation is that we're getting Schweitzer back- should make our offense look a bit better in the coming weeks. Hopefully.
