  1. I can't tell if our players are that bad or our coaches are that inept. Somewhat ironically, I don't want to evaluate Ron the GM until Ron the Coach is gone.
  2. Are we really still debating Sam Howell and whether he's our franchise QB? Flash in the pan QBs don't kill it behind bad (maybe mediocre now) offensive lines alongside skill position players who jog alongside opposing corners and safeties, and with defenses that escort opposing RBs and WRs to the endzone for tea. The guy isn't operating a pared down offense and he's fully going through his reads when allowed 3 seconds or more. He has a cannon and is more mobile than any QB we've ever had (including RG3, who had no lateral moves). If he stays healthy, he's our guy.
  3. So it wasn't Chase or Montez. As per usual it's miscommunication and bad form in our secondary. And that falls on coaching, specifically Jack's consistently bad coaching.
  4. For the record, if we trade players for picks now, it's going to be this same staff selecting players with those picks, right? As I understand it, most GM candidates aren't available until the summer. Of course, this is all subject to to change if Harris opts to go young and upcoming.
  5. Seriously, why isn't Ron, who is somehow still employed, not getting on his hands and knees begging Matsko to come back?
  6. You guys are giving up already? After playing a real close game against one of the most New York teams in the NFC? After wins against the Cardinals and Falcons, both of whom are eligible for the playoffs and possibly the Superbowl? Hasn't Ron earned the benefit of the doubt? He figured out how to go exactly .500 in a 17 game season! More importantly, he has gotten to be a head coach in the NFL for 13 seasons with some having more wins than losses (3)! Guys, we're just two or three games away from the team figuring out that blitzes help defenses and you don't have have to keep using the same offensive linemen at the same positions if they're not playing well. *edit* It's pretty clear some folks aren't down with keeping Ron. To them, I ask the following questions: Who is going to delegate personnel decisions to someone named Marty? Who is going to allow someone else to design, implement, and call offensive and defensive plays? More importantly, who is going to step aside and allow players to give themselves a halftime speech? Is there anyone on this staff even remotely capable?
  7. I think Sam's sack totals are absurdly overstated since the guy has a tendency to get tackled behind the line of scrimmage when scrambling - and I realize this isn't a point in his favor. I also don't think this offensive line is nearly as effective as the stats suggest. Yes, Sam has a pocket, but it's cramped and doesn't allow for clean throwing lanes or effective scrambles. In any case, Sam has buy in from me - guys who are perpetually sacked aren't usually in the top ten in yards and touchdowns.
  8. Ourlads was calculating averages during throwing drills, which doesn't really reflect the strength of a QB's arm. After all, a lot of throws need touch. However, the combine did have a "hardest throw" drill with the QB just throwing the ball as hard as possible with no receiver on the other end- Howell topped everyone at 59mph.
  9. Fire Ron and JDR. Hire Chris Harris back from the Titans as our D coordinator. Promote EB to interim head coach.
  10. This team competed by running the ball and focusing on the short passing game. Sam carried us for that second half and is clearly someone worth developing. Even still, there were no clean pockets and he constantly had to adjust his mark in his drop backs. And yes, he held the ball too long on a couple of plays, but most of it seemed by design.
  11. Firing JDR should happen yesterday.
  12. **** you Forbes. **** this team.
  13. Good god, I'm already done with this season. Our offensive line is thoroughly offensive
  14. Forbes is kind of hot garbage right now
  15. John Matsko is still floating out there if we need some coaching help
  16. I'm struggling to see how the line isn't primarily at fault. Even if they're technically creating a "pocket," there aren't really throwing lanes to step up into- this then becomes an issue for Sam, who can't see over a 6'6" lineman a foot away from him. Moreover, a lot of folks are pointing out the amount of time Sam holds the ball without knowing whether guys are getting open, the progression of his reads, or the amount of time Sam buys himself while scrambling in the pocket waiting for something to happen. I have a feeling that stat is especially inflated by the latter. This isn't to say Sam isn't at fault for some of this, but to watch Mahomes or Allen, there's no way he's getting enough time in a clean pocket.
  17. Del Rio is garbage to start the season... every ****ing year
  18. I feel as though we aren't talking about the rain enough. I firmly believe it caused at least 50% of the dysfunction on offense. We had a game plan to toss the ball and we stuck to it, despite the actual ball being water logged and slick. I'd imagine that, at times, visibility across the field was probably limited, too. Yes, the Cardinals faced the same conditions, but their offense was even worse than ours.
  19. This O-Line has no clue when it comes to dealing with stunts. It seemed like our young interior guys were the most impacted, though Wylie gave up that quick pressure resulting in a sack, too. Most of this is on coaching and mental breakdowns, so I'm hopeful that the protection improves over the season. My optimism is mostly predicated on knowing that lines with multiple new starters take time to gel and I've seen them get better over the course of season.
  20. Could we have those backups play on the offensive line?
