  1. It’s looking like there will be no royal blue and white Jordan’s in Heineke’s closet.
  2. I heard some folks on the radio this week compare Ehlinger to Heineke. I didn’t give it much thought, not remembering much from his college days- but I’ll be damned, they were right. There are also Colts fans super pumped for this guy to play. A true sign of QB purgatory.
  3. And you can’t go wrong with that, in fact - add some browned chorizo to it and yum yum yum.
  4. Looks like a good recipe. Sometimes, simple is better. Agreed, I’m just not normally one to use the seasoning packets, canned soups and stuff like that. Smells great in here though. Here’s the written recipe: https://belleofthekitchen.com/mississippi-pot-roast/
  5. We’ll see how this goes. Never been one to go for the easy throw a few things in the crockpot meals, but the family has been sending me this Mississippi pot roast recipe for a while now. Chuck roast packet of ranch seasoning packet of au jus butter pepperoncinis, with some of the juice Apparently you just dump it all in here and it’s great. I did have to take the extra step of browning the roast first though. Hopefully the hype is real. Should be ready around halftime when the game is 6-3.
  6. I’m sure that’s part of the soup. Imagine selling and the new guy immediately gets all the things he can’t - a new stadium pretty much wherever he wants, the fanbase both coming back and growing and eventually winning football.
  7. Imagine owning the team you grew up loving, burning it all the way to the ground, changing its name, giving it a 💩 name and uniforms and the entire fanbase that’s left hates your guts and begs you to sell. But you continue to hold on out of spite so you can pass it down to your kid, in effect causing everyone to hate him as well. I promise you that if I was in his position, I would apologize for the damage I’ve done and sell.
  8. I think you get a QB whenever you can, as soon as possible. There is never a bad time to acquire QB talent as there is so little of it on the market. When you are going into your 3rd season as head coach and still have no answer at QB, and aren’t in love with a prospect in the draft, you have to do something. The fact of the matter is Ron would be getting killed for doing nothing, just as he’s getting killed for what he did not working out.
  9. He made some less than flattering remarks on the pre game show prior to the Bears game as well. Couple that with Wentz remark about his head in a blender and things get a bit more clear. It would seem the only moderately successful way to run this offense is nickel and dime, dink and dunk style.
  10. No offense, but this reads more like you wanted to waste more time watching Heinicke, than it does a legitimate plan. I’m not really connecting the dots on “building the lines” with the $38M. Obviously the money could have been better spent. But you build lines primarily through the draft. I recall you arguing to spend the money on “weapons”, and you weren’t alone. The argument from the rest of us was what good are weapons if the QB can’t fully utilize them? Running it back with Heinicke was simply not a serious option. I get that the team likes him, but I think part of the charm is the fact that he is a backup. The fact of the matter is the team had to make a move at QB and per usual, they made a bad one.
  11. After the Falcons game last season, it was also Heinicke mania. Beer sponsors, tons of media exposure and love, same from guys in the locker room. Most everybody was all in on him until they weren’t.
  12. I’d just like to state that my original concern with the MJW investigation is that it started with a conclusion already. The conclusion being that all is swell in Ashburn now, nothing more to see here, everyone go home. It seems some owners have the same concern. That it’s not being done for what’s right, but more in an effort to make it all go away.
  13. OK, got it. Thanks...so I got the title incorrect. Call him "head of football operations/head coach" then. When asked about Wentz and the trade compensation, my point stays the same...I think it's perfectly within reason for Rivera to answer wearing both hats, if you will. He doesn't need to do the idiotic football coach thing and pretend he's blindly just trying to grind out every yard in a lost season. That's dumb. I think it would reassure some fans to know that the guy at the top of the food chain has his sights set past the next 10 games. Here lies just one of the issues with a coach-centric model, where the ‘GM’ reports to the coach. I’m not arguing in favor of or even the legitimacy of the setup. But at the end of the day, Ron is the head coach and has to publicly handle things as a head coach - for which personally I wouldn’t entertain questions about contractual stuff for a guy on IR until it’s necessary. Somewhat related, but obviously not the same. Matt Ryan is being benched for the rest of the season no matter what due to what playing more and/or getting injured mean to what’s left of his contract. But nobody from the Colts org is coming out and saying that, it’s being filtered out by reporters.
  14. Of course there isn’t, but the odds are in your favor picking early in the draft vs. later. Just two weeks ago, this place was apocalyptic about the state of the roster, coaching staff, etc. Folks were packing Ron’s bags for him. The majority of this forum being in agreement that the roster just isn’t up to snuff to compete. Since that time they’ve accounted for two wins, one by sucking less than the Bears, the other over what is likely the worst team Aaron Rodgers has ever been tasked with leading. Bottom line is this is still the same team everyone was unhappy with not long ago. So spare me the “we just gotta win” narrative that only spawned after a few meh wins. I don’t think any of us were under the impression this team was as bad as 1-4 suggested, but they definitely aren’t good enough to compete- particularly in this division where they reside in their usual last place spot.
  15. Martin Mayhew is the GM. I know, I know- Ron hired him, so yeah. But formally, the GM is Mayhew. Of course you and I both know there’s little value at all in grinding out a 7 seed only to get defeated, and lose a 2nd round pick to boot. But no head coach is ever going to publicly hedge against winning via contract/trade related matters.
  16. I see zero reason to even delve into it until it’s necessary, ie: Carson being cleared to play. He answered the question like a coach, not a GM.
  17. I’m curious if they can call the loan they gave him to buy out the minority owners. Of course there is someone somewhere, who would lend this guy the money to pay it back, but it would send the message loud and clear.
  18. A generational talent selected by a hall of fame, offensive wizard. Sure, let’s just be like them. 🤣
  19. Clearly, nothing is guaranteed to work here. But going 7-10, missing the playoffs, and picking at 14 is much less appealing than 4-13 potentially picking in the top 5.
  20. Gutsy play for sure, but Wentz laid the wood on Roquan Smith - had he not gotten hurt, I think that bought him a few more weeks. In fairness to Taylor, I haven’t seen a Washington QB willing to lay his body out to complete a pass like that since Kirk.
