  1. I’d just like to state that my original concern with the MJW investigation is that it started with a conclusion already. The conclusion being that all is swell in Ashburn now, nothing more to see here, everyone go home. It seems some owners have the same concern. That it’s not being done for what’s right, but more in an effort to make it all go away.
  2. OK, got it. Thanks...so I got the title incorrect. Call him "head of football operations/head coach" then. When asked about Wentz and the trade compensation, my point stays the same...I think it's perfectly within reason for Rivera to answer wearing both hats, if you will. He doesn't need to do the idiotic football coach thing and pretend he's blindly just trying to grind out every yard in a lost season. That's dumb. I think it would reassure some fans to know that the guy at the top of the food chain has his sights set past the next 10 games. Here lies just one of the issues with a coach-centric model, where the ‘GM’ reports to the coach. I’m not arguing in favor of or even the legitimacy of the setup. But at the end of the day, Ron is the head coach and has to publicly handle things as a head coach - for which personally I wouldn’t entertain questions about contractual stuff for a guy on IR until it’s necessary. Somewhat related, but obviously not the same. Matt Ryan is being benched for the rest of the season no matter what due to what playing more and/or getting injured mean to what’s left of his contract. But nobody from the Colts org is coming out and saying that, it’s being filtered out by reporters.
  3. Of course there isn’t, but the odds are in your favor picking early in the draft vs. later. Just two weeks ago, this place was apocalyptic about the state of the roster, coaching staff, etc. Folks were packing Ron’s bags for him. The majority of this forum being in agreement that the roster just isn’t up to snuff to compete. Since that time they’ve accounted for two wins, one by sucking less than the Bears, the other over what is likely the worst team Aaron Rodgers has ever been tasked with leading. Bottom line is this is still the same team everyone was unhappy with not long ago. So spare me the “we just gotta win” narrative that only spawned after a few meh wins. I don’t think any of us were under the impression this team was as bad as 1-4 suggested, but they definitely aren’t good enough to compete- particularly in this division where they reside in their usual last place spot.
  4. Martin Mayhew is the GM. I know, I know- Ron hired him, so yeah. But formally, the GM is Mayhew. Of course you and I both know there’s little value at all in grinding out a 7 seed only to get defeated, and lose a 2nd round pick to boot. But no head coach is ever going to publicly hedge against winning via contract/trade related matters.
  5. I see zero reason to even delve into it until it’s necessary, ie: Carson being cleared to play. He answered the question like a coach, not a GM.
  6. I’m curious if they can call the loan they gave him to buy out the minority owners. Of course there is someone somewhere, who would lend this guy the money to pay it back, but it would send the message loud and clear.
  7. A generational talent selected by a hall of fame, offensive wizard. Sure, let’s just be like them. 🤣
  8. Clearly, nothing is guaranteed to work here. But going 7-10, missing the playoffs, and picking at 14 is much less appealing than 4-13 potentially picking in the top 5.
  9. Gutsy play for sure, but Wentz laid the wood on Roquan Smith - had he not gotten hurt, I think that bought him a few more weeks. In fairness to Taylor, I haven’t seen a Washington QB willing to lay his body out to complete a pass like that since Kirk.
  10. Wentz looked worse in this offense than he did last year in Indy. For a guy who already holds the ball too long to both lose his mobility and need to learn an entirely new system, with the middle of his OL destroyed, it was a match made in hell.
  11. Who? Just because I know what’s best for the team (losing) doesn’t mean I’m actively rooting for their opponent. I can’t root against guys like TMC, Allen, etc. But I know those guys would prosper with both an ownership change and a quarterback. They need that to ever win meaningful games in this town.
  12. I understand that obviously the players and coaches don’t want to lose. That said, I think the majority are well versed enough in losing that one more season of it won’t cause any further trauma. This team desperately needs a QB. Beyond that, I think the losing only helps make Dan less attractive to potential suitors for a stadium.
  13. I don’t see it that way at all. We were all here for the Giants and Falcons games last season, we saw him play during the 4 game winning streak. We are well aware that he can play and make things interesting. I just see playing Heineke for any extended period of time as an exercise in futility. We know who he is and while he’s not all bad, he’s not a franchise QB. We need a franchise QB and we don’t need feel good wins to sidetrack that possibility. Edit: I’d like to add that I’m aware the coaches and players don’t feel the same as me. Obviously, they haven’t given up and want to win. I just don’t think that’s healthy for a variety of reasons. Very costly fools gold.
  14. All of this. I haven’t said much today, because I don’t want to rain on the parade. But damn if we don’t have a golden opportunity to be awful and get a selection at the top of perhaps the most QB heavy draft in a long time. I just knew and know we are going to win too many games for that but nowhere near enough to play in the postseason.
  15. It’s wild how quickly the narrative changes. It feels like less than two weeks ago Ryan led a GW drive and he was being heralded as the hall of famer they knew he was when they traded for him.
  16. The team is sitting at 3-4 in what is currently the best division in football. Perhaps we should see a few more games before worrying about who starts several weeks from now. If somehow TH can do enough to have the team in contention a month from now, there’s no way he’s going back to the bench for Wentz.
  17. I will say they did credit him with that throw, to the extent we had to head to Twitter to see it. Probably the best throw I’ve seen TH make.
  18. I missed the game as I chose to play golf instead. Listened to the broadcast though and man, Bram makes a handoff up the gut for 2 yards sound like a 65 yard scamper for a touchdown. Fletcher was killing TH in the first half, about how the D didn’t respect his arm, sitting on routes, should have had several turnovers, etc. Basically all the stuff that has been talked about ad nauseam here. The broadcast doesn’t appear to match the events as I’ve been reading them back via several threads in here. Sounds like TH had a hell of a second half, but the broadcast team expressed much more enthusiasm for the running game. Sounded like Gibson came back to life yesterday and had some big runs.
  19. I wish I could say that I can’t believe we’re arguing the legitimacy of teammate-speak, but I’m not shocked at all really. Next we are going to find out that when Joe Gibbs described the 1990 Detroit Lions he truly meant they were as good as he described in his weekly presser.
  20. This is TH himself saying he wants to use his legs as a last resort. I was referring to the poster saying “they” were telling him not to run, both early and late last season.
