  1. This is why relying on an essentially a raw rookie QB in year 4 was a crazy ass idea even if it was the “best” one. I think Sunday is a dud no matter what. They’re overmatched. I think next Thursday will be big though. Really have to have a good offensive performance against a perceived weaker team.
  2. Crazy how every coach here has a fetish for sounding stupid behind a mic. Really annoying
  3. https://www.hogshaven.com/2023/9/27/23892440/sam-howells-sack-issues-are-nothing-new The issues aren’t new btw. UNC fans were having the exact same debates the past few years. Either that’s just Sam’s game or he’s just REALLY unlucky with who ends up blocking for him no matter where he plays. Most QBs have flaws. Thankfully they’re good at other stuff so it balances out. Sam does enough else where I think you can live with a propensity for sacks.
  4. ….Is the implication here that we’ve seen an offense get materially better over the course of season ? If so, which team and which offense are you referencing? They usually just suck around these parts. I’m not out on this team yet but your statement just doesn’t fit anything related to recent Washington football lol
  5. Which is why I’m worried what’ll happen next Thursday. The Iggles game in my mind is going to be abject disaster. Little can change that in my mind. That Bears game is immense bc if we have another stinker there, I genuinely question if the narrative from Ron will still be “we have to develop Sam” bc at that point, he’ll be really on the hot seat. And that’s been my fear the entire offseason. Sam Howell needed a situation like 2020 or even 2021 where there were minimal expectations and he could learn on the job bc results really didn’t matter. He’s 3-1 as a starter so far of course but knowing he has performances like Sunday in his locker is going to make folks uncomfortable.
  6. They have no chance. Honestly. Horrible matchup. Last year was a complete fluke. I’m sure most folks realize that. I doubt the score will look as bad as Buffalo but they’ll never feel like they have any real hope WSH 9 PHI 23
  7. McNabb Grossman Beck Post knee RG3 pre-good Kirk Absolute disasters at QB for like 85% of their tenure if not more.
  8. They don’t have a chance Sunday. Legitimately. Unless they turn back to caveman football I guess and run it 50 times and pray for lucky TOs like last season. That combination of Howell plus the line is literally throwing meat to wild lions. I know it’s a division game and all that but still.
  9. It said they have the lowest share of blame of all pressures given up. That’s more of an indictment on Sam and less a glowing review of them.
  10. I know. Every fan thinks their Oline is the worst in the league. Meanwhile, Bills players literally came out and said they know he holds on to the ball a ton and they were glad he did.
  11. Truly reminds me of these same types of debates from 2013 and 2014. I think Sam will be a decent QB some day but I also think the sacks will always be a part of his game. You take the big plays with the bad.
  12. This is the crux of everything for me. It’s such a bizarre way to construct a team to be honest. I’d argue that outside of the most important position, the team is ready to be a consistent playoff team. Problem is that the coach is trying to win games while simultaneously bring along an extremely raw rookie QB. From a philosophical team building POV, it makes no sense and is why I don’t have a ton of faith in the plan. I think Howell will be a really solid QB one day but it might be a few years. I remember Kirk had a few stinkers in the same vein in ‘13 and ‘14 before he really figured it out later on in 2015. I don’t think they’re similar at all style wise but I think their talent levels/career expectations are within the same tiers. (Also, this is a good thing for anyone that gets weird about Kirk). For this team, I think you’re eventually going to have a point where you might have to decide between what’s best for winning the next game and what’s best for Sam’s development. I know we all pretty much exclusively care about the latter but embattled NFL coaches under microscopes are just trying to survive the next day… Seems like the entire vision for the season is disjointed. I had a fleeting Hail Mary type hope that Sam was just one of those rare hidden gem types that is able to overcome the nonsense around him but no, he’s just a normal talented QB that needs time and nurturing. I’m just not sure he’s going to get it. That roller coaster ride ( A+ or F- performances week to week) is something that would have made sense for year 1 or 2 of a rebuild. Seems so out of place in this current situation.
  13. He built this team to be in the “In the Hunt” graphic come Nov/Dec. Not getting anything else unless he lucks into drafting a good QB and they have an outlier MVP season. We have years of data at this point.
  14. I just can’t believe after the great RG3 wars of the past decade that so many in our fanbase are still so quick to blame the Oline. Sam Howell took a ton of sacks in college. That’s literally his game. I honestly think every fanbase in the league with exception of maybe Dallas and Cleveland think they have a bottom 5 Oline. It’s such low hanging fruit to pick at. Our OLine can certainly be better but sacks are more influenced by QB than we want to admit. Some guys are just naturally inclined to take a bunch. We made the decision to start a rookie in a must win year so you have to take the good with the bad.
  15. Been on this site since I was 16 years old. 2009. Started watching games when I was 5 years old. Pain and suffering. Mostly because of him. And it’s over. I don’t have to think about him again. We’re a normal franchise. I love you guys. I love this team. Let’s get behind the team this season. Every Sunday.
  16. Big 2019 vibes. Everybody and their mom will know he’s getting fired.
  17. Let’s relax there. Josh Allen is a tank. Sam is slightly bigger than Heinicke
  18. I was not a fan of Howell coming out of the draft but man, loved what I saw today. My baseline with rookies is answering this question: “does he look like an NFL QB?” I think you can tell that answer immediately The answer was no immediately for me in regards to Haskins, Beck, and even Zach Wilson in NY Howell looked competent and flashed. That throw to Terry was one of best throws I’ve ever seen a Washington QB make in my life.
  19. Does a team even bring Wentz in next season? Not only does he suck but he’s a joke around the league and has rumors of being a bad teammate.
