  1. The problem as I see it was he didn't really show anything in the other games, or preseason for that matter. The consensus pick there was Gonzales, a lot of us raised our eyes at the Forbes pick but I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. Not sure why I would do that with their draft record, we all commented that so many of his picks were on plays where he was beaten, but that's what fans do. We want to believe our team is right, sadly they aren't right far too often. But this is what happens when a man like Snyder gave full control to a coach who never showed any great ability to evaluate players.
  2. It's hard for me not take this game as some sort of moral victory when I look at Howell's performance. He was sticking it into tight coverage where Hurts was dropping balls to wide open receivers. I can only imagine him in an offense that actually provides the protection for him to look further downfield.. Instead they are limited to mostly short throws. He is mobile but I wish he were faster, there is a big difference between his foot speed and say Daniel Jones. Chase had a few plays but I totally agree with the poster who said neither of our DEs are anything close to game wreckers. You don't give a massive deal to a DE unless he is an impact player than these 2 are not. Despite their efforts this secondary stinks. We saw Diggs wide open all day last week, we saw them again give up big plays yesterday. Forbes looks like a bad pick, few great corners start this poorly, and Martin may be yet another wasted 2nd round pick.
  3. Here are the top 2 picks under RR. I can't think of too many teams who have had this lack of production from their top picks year after year: 2020 1st: Chase 3rd:: Gibson 2021 1st: Davis 2nd: Cosmi 2022 1st: Dotson 2nd: Mathis 2023 1st: Forbes 2nd: Martin
  4. Call me surprised, I never saw them being in this game
  5. I would never let politics determine where I live. I laughed when it was Obama. Once the F Biden flags showed up on the back of my neighbor's truck the day after the election I kind of laughed. That's all I can do, laugh at them. If anyone has been on Int 70 east between Mt Airy and the Ellicott City exit you will see a farmer has a forklift with ultra conservative messages that he spends a lot of money changing out. I laugh at him too.,
  6. I am beyond pissed that so many teams passed on Jalen Carter because he was drag racing and allowed the best player in the draft to fall to the Eagles. I have no idea if this is on the QB or not, we saw what a difference in the sack totals were when Cousins replaced Griffin. But it's also perfectly clear that the protection is pitiful. And of course what is frustrating is we all knew this was probably the team's biggest need going into the offseason and they failed to adequately address it.
  7. I am in Mt Airy. When I go to vote I look around the room and feel as if I'm the only person in the room voting for the Dem candidate.
  8. I used to feel sorry for Roy Epps. He was unfairly targeted and lost his business over a lie. But now I realize he is part of the group that ruined his life. He is being devoured by his own people. You get in bed with snakes, you show up at the Capital because you are a moron who believed lies, and this can happen. Screw you Roy Epps, you made your own bed. I came here to post this but you beat me to it. I live in Carroll County so this got coverage up here. I enjoyed getting on the local Facebook page and responding to threads saying things like Prayers for Rodney Milstreed and fired away. Good times.
  9. Because there are still a lot of holes on this roster and a head coach who does not have a great career win/loss record. I can totally see a scenario where he plays well yet they still have a losing record. But he plays well enough to keep his job. In fact I kind of would be shocked if he wasn't our starting QB next season.
  10. I'm with most of the others in believing you are totally wrong. If the season ended today the new staff will have enough to believe they can roll with Sam, providing they don't end up with a top 2 pick which I know is not possible in my scenario. I mean if they finish say 7-10 they won't have the ability to draft a top QB prospect anyway. So again baring a complete meltdown by Sam what other viable options would the new FO have? A retread? A reach in the draft while again ignoring the OT situation? Man that was a fun game to watch, not a fan of either team but I was rooting for Florida State. Seeing the kicking situation at Clemson makes me smile, screw that program they have won enough.
  11. After watching the game again I have more takes. The TD pass to Terry was even better after more looks. What I had not noticed was how Howell looked left until the final instant, he didn't lock in on Terry to make that throw. This pulled the safety just enough to make him late to the play. Just an unbelievable throw, a throw I can't remember a Washington QB making in a very long time. I really wish he would take off and run more often. For 2 years in a row we have a mobile QB but unlike other teams we just don't exploit that enough. Sam's height was the reason for several of those batted balls at the LOS. We don't talk about his height, like ever. But it is and will continue to be an issue. I knew Wylie would suck at RT, most of us did. How can fans know more than our front office? Charles did have a very good game. I noticed on game day how he tripped Cosmi on that screen to the right, I always felt that big play should have been bigger. However on the Gibson screen he got out and made a key block and was solid most of the game.
  12. Was he the color guy? They guy who kept referring to the 2 minute mark as halftime? He did it twice. My takes although most of them have been posted already: It's so nice to see this team execute the screen pass, this play has killed us on defense for as long as I remember. They simply have to hold on to interceptions. I am not sure why Cam Curl has not been signed to an extension by now. Just a good solid player. The TD to TM, both pass and catch, may have been the best play from a Washington offense in years. I could not believe how beautiful that play was. I think we got a lot of breaks from the officials for a road team. Forbes without a doubt grabbed on the 2 pt conversion, I'm not convinced he was inbounds on his pick or that we crossed the line on the 2 pt conversion. Other calls that I don't remember went our way too. I still feared Russell Wilson late in that game, even though he's clearly no longer Russell Wilson. Well at least we are down to only 1 bad snap a game, the others were fine. Not sure what to make of Chase's return. He did get 1.5 sacks but it's not like he was pressuring Wilson a lot. Still 1.5 sacks sure is good to see. Payne was a beast most of the game, the rest took turns making big plays.
  13. Wylie should be playing guard, that is his best position. But once again like with William Jackson they try to put a square peg into a round hole.
  14. One thing I noticed was twice Samuel got the ball in space and could not make his man miss, something the Samuel on the west coast rarely does. Now he's not Deebo but he should be able to make more out of those plays IMO,
  15. They knew the OL was weak, yet the moves they made were to sign other team's cast offs. We all knew, even casual fans, that this OL was not nearly good enough. Yet this is the route they chose to take. I agree with the comments on the RBs. Gibson not only fumbles he clearly misses holes and just crashes into bodies. It was foolish to draft him as a between the tackles RB. Washington fans love Brian Robinson because he has the incredible ability to turn a 2 yard run into a 5 yarder. But guys that's it, look around the league and you will see most every team has a back (or 2) with much more explosiveness. Our RBs are clearly below average. Howell was OK for his first game as a full time starter. But he easily could have had 2 more picks. The OL will severely limit his ability to make plays. Davis flashed and made a few plays but overall the LBs were not a factor, again this was entirely predictable. I backed up the game sealing play by Forbes 3 times. This is why he was drafted in the first round, love that guy. Also agree on the previous post that Sweat has been good, nothing more, but that game was the game of an elite DE.
  16. Can someone help us uninformed fans on Cox's profile? Is he just a better backup than Mayo?
  17. It wasn't just the media. Most every GM would have jumped at the chance to take Chase Young in that draft. What a disaster this is for him in his contract year. Now on top of under performing he now is labeled as injury prone.
  18. RR's teams have a history of slow starts, I don't see that changing. I'm pretty sure they will clean out everyone before any decision on the DEs are made. I also agree with the comments on Sweat. He has been pretty good, nothing more, and fans are starting to notice this.
  19. Not sure where to put this but just wondering when Goodell will release the MJW Report. I'm not holding my breath.
  20. My dad lived in Vancouver. When I was visiting him he sent me back to put money in the meter. I saw cops run into a bank, I looked through the window and saw they had a guy spread eagle against the counter by the tellers. Then he bolts, running right towards me and smashing through the glass door right next to me before running up the street with cops, slipping on the broken glass, in pursuit.
  21. I have no idea how Bram could not have a concern over the LBs going into the season. Davis and Barton where there only 2 with any hope of being good and they were both unproven gambles.
  22. I didn't pay much attention to the preseason. So Barton struggled? That is not good news if it continues as he was a big gamble. I just can't see how you can have a good defense with crappy linebackers, even in today's game.
  23. It's good for stashing players you want to keep. It also limits the team's ability to find help at need positions, like this team, from late cuts from other teams.
