  1. I am hoping that TH pans out for us as a quality starter or backup. I hope even more that Zampese coaches him into a QB that we can get 2x1st's for if we decide to trade him. Value if he sticks and value if he leaves.
  2. I hope we are still trying to come up with a long term deal that alleviates this full 18m cap hit. After reading that we made generous offers the last 2 years and they were rejected, I don't have faith Scherff wants to remain in DC. Winning might change that, but we have a cutoff date in June/July so this year's W/L is irrelevant.
  3. I second this opinion TWW. Please do not tap out. You are definitely one of my favorite posters and I learn a lot from you. Need you now more than ever on here during the down time between team activities. Keep posting. Hail🙃
  4. Not that I hate domes, but I always felt we would change our identity if we played in a dome. Redskins were always a natural grass team playing in the elements. The biggest thing I feel most of us agree on about RFK was that the partial dome always reflected the crowd noise back down onto the field giving our 'twelfth man' a monumental edge in intimidation. It's the biggest reason I hate it when we play in Seattle. They still have their edge against us and we gave ours away. I hate it every time I pass RFK and see our old home.
  5. Normally I would agree with you Steve, but after reading SIP's post on the Keim podcast, it doesn't sound like this one is on RR. It just sounds like Scherff is fed the eff up and ready to pack it somewhere else. Putting the second tag on him at least ensures that we get something for him when he leaves.
  6. I think you are correct there. We didn't wait around at tackle. Once RR knew that they were set without Moses, they jumped through their butts to let him know to seek a trade. I think that shows great respect and deference from RR. We weren't about to dick Moses around all summer long and then dump him right before the season starts and his money is guaranteed. And yes, we have a logjam at safety at the moment. But I think it's a tougher call than OL. We had a lot of D rookies to evaluate last week and DB's are a whole different animal in a 4-2-5. Now you are talking about position flex more than the standard definition of a LB, FS, SS, etc. Except for CB's and D-line, every other player will play multiple positions from SLB to iCB to FS. I know that many here think that it's a foregone conclusion that Apke is gone. Maybe so. His instincts suck and he takes poor angles. But he's a decent athlete, good speed and rangy. Who knows what he's learned over the offseason. One thing that I loved hearing about Sammis Reves is that he is studying his ass off all day, every day. That's what we did in any school I've ever been to. Weather it's college, or an Army school, we used flash-cards and white-boards over and over till we aced it. Who knows what Apke or Bostic or Reaves have learned in the interim? But I know that we have a buttload of DB's on the roster and it's going to take a hell of a lot longer than a weekend to weed out the talent.
  7. With the addition of McCain at FS, I feel that we are a #1 D not only this year, but for the near future. JDR is a brilliant defensive coordinator and is cutting edge in the NFL for scheming D's for peak potential. My take on the Tampa wildcard game is that on offense, we saw with serviceable to mediocre QB play that we kept ourselves in contention to win till the end. Arguably, with a true #2 receiver and a healthy Gibson, we could have outscored Tampa. On defense, we were arguably a competent MLB, SLB and FS away from totally dominating Tampa. Now, we have drafted and added through FA all the pieces we were short of, to beat the world champions. And we have depth. With above average QB play from Fitz, and all his new toys, we are going to win many more games. Our D line will now have help from the LB's to stop the run and quit getting gashed over the middle on short yardage, which is where Tampa tore us apart. My prediction is, if we can stay healthy, we will have the #1 D in the NFL this year. Also, we will win the division again and make it through the paloffs(haha), all the way to the NFC Championship game. Feel free to tag this so we can either toast or laugh later
  8. I don't see why this is not obvious to so many here. Brevin Jordan was arguably the 3rd best TE in the draft after Pitts and Freiermuth, according to many draft gurus. Many on here had him in their top 5 TEs along with Long and Tremble. Now, considering our greatest needs going into the draft (LT, LB, TE, WR, FS, etc...), and where to take BPA to fit our needs, it would probably play out that in RD1 and 2 we would address LB and LT. Which we did. And, that would make the 3rd round picks the sweet spot for a TE. Hunter Long was taken the pick before our first 3rd round pick, and Tommy Tremble was still available after our second 3rd rounder. Brevin Jordan was still available when we picked Bates in the 4th. We could have had any of these TEs after Pitts and Freiermuth, but we picked Bates because of his skillset and intangibles. It was stated by one of our coaches that after the Dyami Brown pick, Brevin Jordan would be 'more of the same'. We wanted an in-line TE that could and would block, as well as run and catch. It took MANY years for Ertz to become a willing and decent blocker. We picked a kid who is willing to do it now and is pretty good at it. I would even add without seeing him do it, that Sammis Reyes will be a good blocker while he learns his route tree.
  9. Thanks for the post GSF. I remember the Springfield mall. I had a part time job there for 3 weeks at a men's clothing store back in 88 when I was stationed at Belvoir in a Recon platoon. Kept the job long enough to get my first suit and a leather jacket. Oh, the days of Orange Julius.
  10. This is a solid point about guaranteed money. If the WFT is not going to come off the dime to guarantee anything with a new contract, then his ass is in the wind if he gets hurt during training camp or preseason. Or am I reading this right?
  11. You may be right on that. I was just surprised that we had access to so many linemen last year. Seems that in the past, when we found ourselves hurting for OL during the season, we always seemed to hold to around 9 OL on the 53, plus 2 or 3 on PS. I love the paradigm shift.
  12. I saw that we got a new practice field as well. Sure glad to hear this. Until RR got here, it just seemed like this whole organization and fanbase had gone to seed. I hated that our team played 50% of it's games on that suck-ass field. Just one more reason I love this coach as much as Gibbs!
  13. I was thinking the same thing as you about 10 O linemen being a lot, but in Friday's presser RR answered that very same question saying (paraphrasing) 'Last year we had 10 OL on active roster and 6 on Ps and it worked out for us. Now this year, with the extra game, it would be wise to do the same so we aren't in peril due to attrition.'
  14. Been waiting on this for 3 days straight! Can't believe it happened while I was watching. Don't know the ramifications for Schweitzer or Ismael, but I don't they've seen enough of Charles to cut him this soon.
  15. That is an outstanding video. I've seen game highlight reels with curl on them, but never by himself. For a rookie late-round pick, he's incredible.
  16. Sure would like it if it shakes out like this. Not sayin that we have any sort of home field advantage at FED-EX, but I would rather play the tougher teams at home rather than in their houses. Would love to demolish RFK and rebuild it on the same lot. Same size and roof. Just more intimate and loud than FED-EX ever was.
  17. We would definitely be set at LB with this haul, lol. It would probably cover our secondary as well seeing as we would now have extra speed in dime packages. Like you, I am not hot on Mac with our 1st. I do however think we need to snag Mills, Mond or Newman with our 3rd to 5th rounders, so I have been mocking roughly that way. My best so far is: #36 Etienne RB #50 Leatherwood OT #51 Cox LB #74 Brown OT #97 Jordan TE #118 Smith-Marsette WR #124 Thomas CB #163 Newman QB I know RB in the 1st is not the best use of assets, but trading back allowed me to turn my 7th rounders into a 4th and a 5th. So taking Etienne at the top of the 2nd still netted a blue-chip player, while covering every need with a good/great guy instead of JAG. I still think that Kerrigan signs with us after the draft. Just my gut.
  18. Wow. This mirrors how a majority of folks here want our own draft to look like.
  19. I've never traded in a mock before this year. Never felt comfortable getting into detail on something I'm not good at, math. But I've tried your scenario 3 times where we give 19, 82 and next years first to Detroit, and they take it each time. Is this even realistic? I mean, I've seen some mocks on this thread with us getting Pitts and a top 5 QB, and I know it's just folks being high on crack or being able to manipulate a simulator, with no ties to reality. Is that what is happening here? or is it semi realistic in so far as a simulator can mirror reality in the draft?
