BBC: China pneumonia outbreak: COVID-19 Global Pandemic
Springfield replied to China's topic in The Tailgate
My wife works in an animal hospital. She’s required to mask up at all times. I work in an auto shop. We are required to mask up in customer facing positions. We were lax with the rules when numbers were low. Now that numbers are high, we are more strict. I think most transmission don’t occur at work, but at social events where people won’t likely wear masks. -

Spent about an hour last night calling employees of my business to tell them that they were exposed to not one, but two people, who tested positive for Covid at our Christmas Yankee Swap on Thursday night. Not the ideal way to spend Christmas Eve. And of course we were supposed to have 3 different families come over to our home this morning for Christmas brunch and 2 of the 3 cancelled. My wife was also exposed at a work meeting on Wednesday. This Christmas ****ing blows. -

I saw a meme that said “When Covid is over” has the same energy as “When I hit the lottery” -

I know that you can’t find a Covid test in my area no matter how hard you try. You can’t find at home tests, you can’t find drive thru tests. Nothing. People are probably scared and going to their last option. We wasted our last at home test on our 7 year old yesterday because his grandparents were coming to take care of him yesterday and he vomited two nights ago and had a 101 degree fever. My dad goes, yeah he probably has Covid. ****ing annoying. -

I dunno guys, this are looking pretty desperate in Fairfax County right now as far as I’m concerned. I’ve had 2 exposures in the last month that I’m aware of. I feel like people all around me are falling I’ll to non-Covid illnesses left and right. It’s like I’m dodging land mines. I guess the only solace thus far, is that hospitalizations and deaths haven’t spiked yet although those are typically lagging numbers. We will see how we look in a couple weeks time. -
How did you do this? I’m paying yearly for Disney plus and monthly for ESPN plus.

I will admit that ESPN+ streaming appears to be a higher resolution than standard cable HDTV. Still irked that this is a marquee game that’s not on TV at all.

I heard the mouthwash thing in like March of 2020. Specifically Oasis mouthwash for dry mouth. Killed off the Covid like it’s nothing. This guys spouting old news. We already knew the old mouthwash trick. -
Nope. It’s funny cause a couple of days earlier they did but when I showed up on Friday their menu was different. I just checked today, even different stuff with Sativa hybrids. I got enough stuff to probably last me a few months at the rate I consume though. Maybe the spring time will have different selections.

Stopped by Gifted Curators in DC yesterday. Was hoping to cop some sativa but they didn’t have any. I got Cherry Pie and Sour Pez, which I have no idea if are any good or not. We’ll see I guess. They did add in a free pre roll for tipping nice though.

General Mass Shooting Thread (originally Las Vegas Strip)

But they’ve already won. The parents of this little sack of **** plead not guilty to manslaughter and they’ll probably walk and gun nuts across the nation will all have a collective Jack off session when they do. Its what happens. I don’t know the details of the case but I can say with fair certainty that this could have been easily prevented. If you argued semantics about how an AR15 is a hunting rifle after Newtown or how bump stops don’t make a gun automatic after Las Vegas then you should be proud that your efforts let this little loony asshole kill some people. How many? I don’t ****ing know. This is what the current gun laws in our country gets you. Guess what, gun owners care WAY more about their right to carry their metallic penis enlargers than they do about the lives of some school kids. The end. -

Is it bad that I don’t even really care? Like, nothing’s going to happen to prevent anything like this so why should I waste my time thinking about it at all. -

I don’t have FSD, I doubt I’d really ever use it. I had a 3 month trial in the beginning of 2021 and barely even touched the FSD. When I did it was finicky, similar to how I hear people talk about the beta. I like autopilot well enough to not want to shell 10k for FSD. -

I don’t really trust Tesla’s. For minor things it’s fine, but for actual full self driving it’s not really there. Without LiDAR I don’t know how it can be what they want. Tesla just took away sonar in favor of stereoscopic cameras and software. I just don’t see Tesla doing it without more sophisticated equipment. -

Samsung makes a phone that is “technically” better than an Apple. If the execution sucks then the Mercedes electric will fail in the same way Ford’s has failed. -
Sheesh. I guess I need to quit the chai tea for some straight black coffee, no sissy k cup bs either. I should probably just walk around bare chested with nothing but an AR strapped to my back. Maybe I can do that in a poor neighborhood with a sign that says “I have $250,00 cash in my back pocket” just so a motha****er would try me. Bless their souls if I have to “defend myself”. Gotta be more alpha.

These are typical 2A fear tactics. Of ****ing course every day life isn’t all peachy. But to think that you’re just randomly going to get attacked is incredibly paranoid. I’ve been walking down the street for nearly 40 years now and have yet to be attacked. You won’t get attacked just walking down the street. You may very well get attacked if you try to stop rioters from rioting. Maybe when you’re 17 you don’t realize that injecting yourself into a riot may lead to being attacked because you LACK THE ****ING LIFE EXPERIENCE. Should he defend himself, yeah. Comparing this child, this baby, to some rando walking down the street is just silly.
