  1. I just scraped some resin from a 20 year old bowl and fired that **** up. YOLO
  2. We've got tornado warnings popping up all over Central Va. from the remnants of Florence. Can probably expect some of this stuff heading up towards NoVa, if you haven't seen it yet. Edited later: After I posted this, all hell broke loose around here. Last I heard, at least 7 tornadoes spotted and at least 3 of those touched down. Fox 5 up there has some pics and videos. Don't ignore them if you get the warnings! http://www.fox5dc.com/weather/tornado-warning-issued-in-city-of-fredericksburg-stafford-and-spotsylvania-counties
  3. Competition for new ideas for Monument Ave in RVA, looking for something beyond the remove/move, or the contextualize what's in place solutions. Kind of interesting. WTVR, Richmond: Design contest seeks innovative answers to Monument Avenue debate http://monumentavenuegdgd.com/national/
  4. Some pretty wild short clips from Honk King and China in this thread. Yeesh.
  5. Not sure how Manafort could participate in undercover activities at this point, but OK. Maybe she meant that she thinks that verbiage means he already has? Anyhow. I love Bob Mueller Fridays!
  6. I wasn't trying to make light of the situation, and maybe it did convey some urgency to people. So that's good, but the fish! I didn't notice them until tshile pointed em out, even though she said you can see fish swimming around. I actually thought it was kind of impressive.
  7. TWC sure is breaking out some fancy new graphics
  8. This thing turned south after I finished a mad scramble to cut grass, fight the lines in grocery stores, fill up the truck and get 20 gallons of spare gas, then moving everything I could out of my basement, putting everything really heavy up on blocks, and assembling a generator that I've had boxed up for a couple of years. You're welcome VA. Sorry bout that Carolinas.
  9. I'd settle for getting rid of those Cross Country Skiing events, and then they mix it with sharpshooting! I have never seen anything close to such dull sprints to the finish, except for maybe turtles racing.
  10. FWIW I just saw some Emergency Coordinator type from VB on the news up here, and she was saying just because you've been told to evacuate Zone A doesn't mean you have to pack up the car and head for Kentucky. She said that if you have somewhere in a non-evac zone you can go to, that should be fine. ETA: My in-laws are in the Kempsville area and are staying. shoo
  11. Here's another site with predicted windspeeds, gusts, rain, etc. Pretty much the same as Dan T. posted, but visually angrier looking. They both match up pretty well from what I've seen. If this holds up, it looks like Central VA is definitely getting soaked for the entire weekend once it starts, with gusts in the 30 MPH range. NOVA/DC gets off a little easier. Looks like gamestime Sunday up there, there will be maybe light precip and gusts up to around 15 MPH. https://www.ventusky.com/?p=36.31;-77.89;6&l=gust&t=20180916/18&w=fast
  12. Isabel rocked Richmond. I think we were without power for 11 days. I can't imagine what it was like on the coast. I visited a friend in Charleston a couple of weeks after Hugo and it was amazing/scary what it must have been like there. You could see water lines on the sides of buildings probably 15-20 feet or so above ground level in certain areas. All of the trees that were still standing had no limbs or leaves. They looked like big toothpicks sticking out of the ground. Looks like central Virginia might be a little less worrisome for now, but I saw Virginia Beach is being evacuated in certain areas/zones.
  13. I just went to the regular old ESPN home page to check the score, and the game is streaming there (not ESPN+)
  14. Not sure what's up with the tree drummer. Must be insistent on having a riser to play on.
  15. After several years of endless testing throughout a bonafide craft beer-a-palooza city, I've identified a smooth sipping, non-bitter, non-hoppy beer that I can actually drink and enjoy en masse. I love it. I expect it to be discontinued at some point soon.
  16. Not sure what you mean, but I am sure that there are lots of people paying more and more attention, to a lot of things that they might have otherwise been oblivious to, It's pretty impossible to miss some of the stuff that has been dragged out into the light. We can thank a lot of inept, corrupt idiots for that. Agreed, In the long run, maybe a Trump presidency was just what this country needed to wake up to some stark realities.
  17. In hindsight, I guess it is sort of classy to do a trolling hand gesture during supreme court nomination hearings on national TV right behind the nominee. I totally get it now. Yuk Yuk
  18. I just don't believe that there's any way that she doesn't know, especially after the first time people started pointing it out. Yeah, she's screwing with people, but why do that when you know that some very racist and screwed up people have sort of hijacked that gesture. It's moronic, at best.
  19. I thought Anchorman was funny, but Ferrell's best role after that was Stranger Than Fiction. Vaughn was bad in True Detective S2, but the season itself was terrible, so maybe that had something to do with my opinion.
  20. Looks like she's texting with someone and may be in cahoots with them, and it is classless.
  21. That law firm does employ 350 lawyers. Their website is perfectly creepy. https://www.kasowitz.com/ Besides representing Trump for years on various divorces, bankruptcies, sexual misconduct allegations, and during the Russia investigation, Kasowitz's firm also represents Oleg Deripeska, and Sberbank. He also claimed to be responsible for the dismissal of Preet Bharara, who just chimed in (same tweet/video as above).
