  1. Wow that Stars/Golden Knights game was wild, it could have easily been 5-4, instead Vegas survived 2-0 with an empty net goal at the end. Dallas couldn't finish. Oh well. 2-2 for the day, 5-5 on the week. Three picks for Saturday to close out the week: Orioles -120. Ride the hot team, they are better top to bottom than the Reds. Reds have tons of speed, they don't hit for average well (.218 on the year). Means' first start of the season, I think he will give us five solid innings. Our bullpen has been pitching much better. This is the lock of the day. Dodgers -170, yes gotta pay a little extra juice for Glasnow. I think he will win the NL Cy Young. Mariners +120, Gilbert is an ace, Astros lineup is not exactly imposing right now.
  2. Kawhi Leonard is the most overrated/fragile "superstar" ever, right? He has missed 50% of the regular season and the entire playoffs like the last three years. Steve Ballmer has to regret signing that guy.
  3. Thanks all. What I get from reading all your replies is that everyone has their own system of, "fair equal pay." I can also sense that the stronger the relationship, the less of an issue money becomes. There is love, understanding, and communication. Taking turns and handling different areas of expenses also seems like a theme. I think for some people, me included, we were never taught to have these conversations. It is an interesting and important dynamic of relationships. If one person feels they are being taken advantage of, or not being appreciated, or their partner is simply not contributing in whatever fashion, well that can lead to some issues. At the end of the day, it comes down to communication. I have never lived with a romantic partner, albeit briefly, so it interests me how each couple handles stuff.
  4. Ha I dunno, that question is always difficult for me. I don't really know how to answer that. If I had to answer it would be less serious than serious. I think that there are also cultural considerations. I am mostly just interested in how other people approach the financial aspect.
  5. New Nas & Premo song that dropped a couple of weeks ago. I like it, don't love it. For those familiar with DJ Premier, his production style doesn't switch up often. He has a signature sound, the way he chops and manipulates the sample is very particular. If I had one criticism of him, and believe me this is as slight as it gets, it is that many of his beats sound the same. But no one can mess with his drums, sampling, or layering. He is a top 3 producer ever and probably the best ever. RZA and Alchemist are the only two that can challenge him for that title imo. Nas murders it as always. Supposedly they have an album coming. That will be epic. Many are saying it is 20 years too late, but I don't care. Nas has proven the last few years that he has plenty left in the tank.
  6. Right. Every couple is unique and has their own methods and issues. She has offered, but very infrequently. She has surprised me and brought food over on a few occasions. She definitely is not greedy or selfish, I think she just sort of realizes that I will pay for stuff. If I asked her I am fairly certain she would be fine chipping in, depending on the price. I guess I just need to be more comfortable asking. With ex-girlfriends I would ask without hesitation.
  7. I literally just brushed my teeth, and it reminded me of this thread. Yes, I rinse after brushing my teeth, and it never occurred to me not to. I have also been using Listerine recently after getting tonsil stones for the first time in my life, and that does the trick. I imagine that is the same as not rinsing. Who leaves the water on while brushing their teeth though? Can't say I approve of that (I am a water conservationist and environmentalist).
  8. Expectations with this team is always low. The fact that we have new ownership and coaching is the only thing that gives me hope, but I realize it will take time. I think 7 wins is the ceiling. My guess is 5-12.
  9. I remember the Bucks traded like 5 second rounders for Jae Crowder last year. What a joke. Did that guy play at all this series? He fell off so badly, sitting that out that season with Phoenix did him no good.
  10. Been curious recently about other people's experiences when it comes to dating or being in a relationship and finances/expenses. Specifically, when it comes to paying for stuff i.e. going out to dinner, going on trips, etc. I have been dating a woman for about 6 months. We go out to dinner a lot, and I always pay. I never ask her to chip in. If I did, I am sure she would be willing to contribute. That's just sort of the person I am, I believe in being generous and kind, I have done the same thing with friends in the past, although not as frequently. I pay for basically everything, including a recent trip to Vegas. My main question is, when you meet a girl and you are dating, at what point do you have a conversation about paying for stuff together? Or do you take the lead and pay for stuff? There are a lot of factors (i.e. who makes the most money), how long you have been dating, etc. In past relationships we would just sort of take turns buying stuff, and I think that is what most couples do, but I was interested in people's experiences. I should add my current girlfriend is an immigrant from Guatemala with a 13-year-old daughter, and she doesn't have tons of money, which sort of makes me reluctant to ever ask her to pay for anything. But if we were to plan a trip to wherever, let's just say Australia, I might feel the need to ask her to chip in for plane tickets, hotels, etc, particularly if her daughter is coming along. In the end I guess it just comes down to comfortability factor and open communication, which is another issue with us, because her English is limited. For those that are married, or have kids, I'd be interested to hear how you split expenses. Is it right down the middle on everything? Separate bank accounts? That is not something I have ever had to deal with.
  11. It is 4:41 am....been up since 10 am. Taking prednisone to try to help my tinnitus, so far no help. But damn this stuff keeps me awake! Probably the last time I will ever take this medication, mostly because I read it has negative side effects to your immune system. Only been there once, but I went to Lou Malnati's. It was 9/10. We also went to a steakhouse called Smith & Wollensky that was superb. Pricey, but superb. Downtown right near the river. It's a chain, but I believe that is the original restaurant.
  12. 5/3 🗝️ Orioles -120 Mariners -105 Royals -120 Dallas Stars -115
  13. Josh Hart so underrated. He has had a solid career.
  14. Honestly that missed free throw was the momentum killer. OG needed to make that.
  15. Brunson is showing me how good he is. Great handles and smooth shot. I never watched him play that much. Holy god Anunoby!
  16. Sixers gonna win it in the 4th quarter.
  17. Orioles smashing home runs as usual. Even McKenna got one.
  18. Ha yeah, none of them have impressed much. Just sucks though, 4th and 5th rounders who end up being worthless? Chalk it up to the Rivera era I guess. Not that I expect all draft picks to stick, but still...
  19. Do teams typically keep 5 tight ends? I don't think so, four would be maximum. So either Bates, Turner, or Rogers is gone. I like the highlights, kid has mad potential.
  20. I agree, I have deep concerns about the OL. Biadasz was one of my favorites pickups, and Coleman looks good, but man...lots of holes. Lack of a solid LT is concerning. Just don't feel like we upgraded that much.
  21. I didn't like the pick that much when it was made because I didn't feel it was a need, due to Allen and Payne, but I appreciate reading this thread. Seems like he was too good to pass up.
  22. Tough season. I checked out on the Caps a while ago, all the childhood trauma from watching the Penguins continually destroy us in the playoffs hurt my psyche, then the continued amazing regular seasons followed by playoff failure in the 2000s. But they won a damn Stanley Cup, and that can never be taken away. It does seem they sort of wasted Ovechkin's career, should have won more, but hopefully they can make one last run. I enjoy watching hockey it is a cool sport.
