  1. Yes - but what remains to be seen is whether he is GM worthy, which entails not just draft record, but seeing the big picture of putting a roster together. Casserly learned to be a good scout, but his tenure as GM both here and in Houston was dreadful.
  2. His teams were good in TN because he had a first rate GM landing him players like Eddie George and McNair. Once he got to LA, he became Mr 7-9. This illustrates the fundamental flaw in all of Snyder's hires. The first action Jack Kent Cooke took was to hire the very best personnel guy he could find - Beathard, who put together the 72 Dolphins and was a scout on the SB Chiefs, and then he let Beathard pick the coach. Lord Farquaad never picked even a reputable GM, let alone searched for the most qualified. It was either an incompetent lackey who would subsequently bully a failing coach because he couldn't win with the **** sandwich of a roster he was given, or all personnel authority was handed over to an aging coach who would gamble away the farm to try and get one last hurrah. Rivera's guys have actually done better in the draft than the other coaches given free reign, though I think it's evident we should have taken Darrisaw and JOK instead of Jamin D and Cosmi as was debated at the time, and in retrospect all of us now wish we had taken either Herbert or Tua rather than Chase Young. Still, we are getting some good value on D in the mid and later rounds. The question now is are these guys better scouts than they are GMs, that is, while finding solid players they fail to grasp the big picture of putting together the crucial elements of a team that will succeed?
  3. A lot of us, including me, have made this comparison several times here, and it's an accurate one, imho.
  4. Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor!
  5. Why is Atlantis' existence seen on the same level of ridiculousness as the others. It seems fairly plausible to me that is is based on the destruction of the Minoan civilization by a volcanic eruption in the middle of the 2nd millennium B.C.E. Unless you are talking about some of the silly theories about it being in South America or surviving in a bubble under the sea....
  6. For the first time since the wall came down, the Commies hold all the Cards. 20-10
  7. The biggest what if facing the team now has to be what if we had drafted Justin Herbert instead of Chase Young. We would have made the playoffs every year in Ron's tenure. Imagine too if we drafted Brock Purdy in the 7th round last year... would be interesting to see how the competition between him and Howell would shake out.
  8. Interesting... whenever I can find them, I love eating sunchokes - a root from a variety of sunflower. Just wash them, nuke 'em for a couple minutes, cut open and throw some gouda on them and nuke another 30 seconds. Great alternative to potatoes for diabetics.
  9. Penne in Salmon Tomato cream sauce https://imgur.com/a/j37AXbd Olive oil Smoked salmon Freshly ground pink pepper San Marzano tomatoes Tomato paste Peas White wine Dash of cream Clove of garlic Topped with pecorino romano cheese
  10. Or what if he never made the trade for the Campbell pick and took Aaron Rodgers at 9 instead of Carlos Rodgers...or what if we had drafted Big Ben instead of Sean Taylor. Gibbs is one of the greatest coaches of all time, but he was poor at personnel. What brings me to the biggest what if of the Snyder era: What if Snyder hadn't refused to pay any extra incentives to Bobby Beathard beyond the measly $500k salary he offered. Beathard was in DC looking for houses when his agent and Snyder's guy spoke on the phone. Beathard's agent wanted to add incentive clauses for players making the probowl and playoff wins, but Snyder's agent said no incentives - 500k, take it or leave it. Snyder subsequently refused to return Beathard's calls and rehired Vinny Bugeyes. If Snyder hires Beathard, he would have been around for Gibbs II, and I definitely think he would have refused to draft Campbell. Plus he would have done better drafting on the offensive side of the ball, where every pick other than Cooley was a bust. The biggest what if of franchise history has to be what if Lombardi didn't get cancer. He and Sonny clicked and Lombardi would have turned the defense around quickly. Remember, we had an MVP RB, a HoF QB, a would be HoF TE if it weren't for homophobia, a HoF WR with excellent #2 Roy Jefferson.
  11. Howell has a stronger arm and is more mobile than Dalton, so I disagree that Dalton is his ceiling. He may still not end up as good as Dalton, but he does at least have the athleticism to surpass him. To me the most apt comparison is probably Marc Bulger, who I think also went in the 5th. Also, Dak, who technically was a 4th, but went last in the round on a supplemental pick, so would only be a few spots higher in the draft.
  12. We need to lock up Jake Fromm while we still can - he may be our best QB since Danny Wuerffle. I think we might be able to extend him for less than $20 mil guaranteed if we act fast.
  13. I like to rewatch Amazon series in Italian or French to work on my language comprehension, and I will put on the subtitles in the target language to reinforce what I am hearing. It's a great way to learn. I still need to work a bit more on my Spanish, but hopefully I will be doing the same with that in the not too distant future.
  14. Assuming he doesn't win the 24 election and pardon himself, the obstruction/documents case is as big of a slam dunk as imaginable. The NY case is b.s. and won't hold up. The other 2 cases should be slam dunks as well, but I could see his lawyers being able to find at least one brain dead juror to hold out. I voted 2.
  15. What the Ukrainians have done is force Putler to do another heavy round of conscriptions before the year is done...look for draftable age to increase to at least mid 30s because Ruzzia is running out of young dudes.
  16. I was actually expecting Lindsey Graham to be one of the indicted...I guess his phone calls weren't as obvious.
